STEAM | November 2014 - Ride of the Valkyries

I find all the game boring :D
But I hope it will be better after I'll reach the open world. I NEED to play this because I never played FFXIII-2 and XIII-3, and it seems they are good games, or at least better then this one :D

Lightning Returns is hot garbage. Only in the darkest timeline would that ever be better than XIII. XIII-2 is though, but the story is complete trash.

Chapter 7. I've almost reached the point in which I dropped the game for the first time on PS3, I'm feeling the pain again, it hurts a lot!
Really, I hope the game will turn better, I want fight optional bosses, explore non-corridor locations, find ultimate weapons, and so.

Also, Snow is indestructible. He felt maybe 100 times, no matter what, he never got hurt.

Well, umh, nice :l
Isn't Lightning Returns better? I read it contains a system similar to Majora's Mask :(

Well, yes. In the sense that Dead Rising contains a system similar to Majora's Mask. It's just a timer, the combat is good but everything else about it is terrible.

OK. I felt like the dungeon designs get better around chapter 9, still linear though.

I think most of that sort of stuff will be available around chapter 11. I've heard that's where the game really opens up.

-----
If I can preorder Lightning Returns from GMG for close to what I paid for XIII-2($13.50) then I'm in.

Don't expect too much from chapter 11 but yeah, at least you can stretch your legs and do some exploring. You can accept hunting quests that will unlock more areas and also the ability to ride chocobos. You'll also fight some unique enemies.
After you're done playing here it's back to the corridor until the end of the game. You can come back to do more quests if you want. I actually did them all because I do like the battle system in the game.
XIII-2 is definitely a better game.
Haven't played LR yet but I'm sure it's better as well. You just can't design a rpg where all the player does is walk in a straight line and fight monsters, come the fuck on. Even character progression is as linear as the game itself. It really is the only rpg I can think of where every player's experience will be 100% identical, not an inch of the experience is tailored by the player which is just insane for a rpg (except if you decide to mess around in the chapter I described above).

Developer Double Fine confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz today that it's unfortunately had to let a dozen members of its team go due to the cancellation of a project.

"One of our unannounced projects was unexpectedly cancelled by its publisher, forcing us to reduce our staff by 12 people. Our remaining projects--Broken Age, Massive Chalice, and Grim Fandango Remastered, were unaffected," said studio head Tim Schafer.

Hmmm, not sure why I couldn't get that DA:I VPN stuff to work. :|
Oh well, I tried long enough, fuck it.

Also, I see punishedsnake is going on my ignore list and getting removed from my steam friends list. :3

So stupid question for anyone who got that VPN to work -- part of the instructions say to "turn Hola off at checkout" -- at which point is this? When I try it, i get redirected to the main store.ubi.com page for the US and checkout didn't process...

I think it means the final stage of the checkout process. There's the possibility that the payment authorisation originating from another country will set off a red flag at your bank/payment provider.

Can this you get you banned/blocked or is it safe?

I've used a VPN to buy a game from the German UPlay store before (Fallout NV, which was on sale for equivalent of $3.25 USD). My order cleared and I got the key, then it was revoked a week later (I don't think the payment ever reversed itself). The key was never revoked.

Wow. I some how missed all the CS:GO drama and VAC banning stuff that is on going. That's crazy. Although the reactions have been both shock and hilarious at the same time, I wonder how this affects CS growth in future.

Don't judge me ;_;

Story:
Overall good (Miku path is the exception)
Central theme reminds me of Ever17

Graphics
There's a strong fluctuation in the graphics. I think there were different artists involved and their level of skill varied. Some of the CGs look wonderful while some other look pretty bad. Still a pretty big game when you consider that there are 140 CG & 115 BG.

Audio
The music is very good. That's pretty surprising given that usually free games cut cost/effort on the audio.
While the songs are good (there are 66 of them !) I think the ambience noise is also very good (though I think most of it is from freesounds.com).

Anyone who plays VN should play this one.
Quality-wise, it's better than most of the 10$ ones on Steam.

I heavily suggest this guide if you can't find the special paths (main reason why my game time is ludicrous):

The Nekopara Game is actually very good, if you like moe. It offers every option a good Visual Novel should offer, plus some things that surprised me a bit. You can specify the voice of every single character, so you can just mute the ones you don't like while still hear the sweet voice of the others. You can comment your save stats, a feature I would love to see with most games of any genre.

Animations of the characters are very nice, they never stop moving and have very little cute animations.

Interesting. Calling Ever 17 catched my interest.

They're around. I encountered a few throughout my travels and have only spent ~7 hours with the game. The ability to ride them is locked behind a skill, though.

so are we getting a new thread when we reach 200 pages?

It'd make more sense to ride this one out until the Autumn Sale kicks off, since it's only a few days away and will end in December. This thread -> Autumn Sale thread in Gaming -> December thread in Community.

This game is relevant to my interests, definitely will buy for a reasonable price.

Also, not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but the new Groupees bundle has Betrayer in the $1 tier. I've only played a little so far, but it seems to hit the whole mysterious/creepy atmosphere very well.

Apparently, there was some undetectable hack via steam workshop that some pro players have been using to hack in game and possibly even in tournaments. Valve have some how clocked on to it and just a week before the dreamhack winter tournament have banned the first guy for it, which got everyone in shock. That persons team "titan" have then announce the suspension till they investigate but have no confirmed that the entire team is now disqualified due to that one guy.

Meanwhile, when this was happening, the guy previously in titan and now with epsilon was streaming when he found out http://www.twitch.tv/scream/b/590859539?t=127m30s

Unbeknownst to that guy though, another guy SF from his own team, was using the same cheat and has now been vac banned as well, resulting in the entire team also being disqualified.

I've heard valve have even flown other teams together to do a quick qualifier to get new teams in place.

From what I understand this could have pretty massive repercussions for cs, the teams, sponsors etc. A similar thing happened back in the starcraft days and did not go well at all

oh, here is a better summary http://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffen...me_visitors_from_rall_heres_what_you_need_to/

Was the first skill I unlocked. Still silly that I gotta unlock it as a skill :V
