I don't know whether to be upset by Dark Souls 2 remastered or not.

It means I probably won't bother getting the season pass during the winter sale though.

No idea. Honestly didn't notice any issues with shadow quality myself. Was too busy enjoying the game to take any notice. It's still graphically impressive though in my opinion, but surely grainy shadows shouldn't be a reason to not go and play the game? :(

I've played the game, Broche path only.
Shadows were really off putting though.

I wished Peggle 2 releases on PC. Game is on sale on Xbone at 5$, but there is no sign of any PC-version. :(

I don't understand why after the timed Xbox exclusivity that game isn't on every available platform including mobile by now. And I certainly won't double dip, played enough on PS4.

After a 12+ hour shift, what did I come home to?
Steam gifts locked.
Possible DS2 new version for PC.

Welp, I was just about to buy keys to buy DS2 in a cheaper price. Not sure if I should be happy or not.

I know why, EA can't be bothered to port it. Times when Peggle was on every platform known to man are over (._.)

Hahaha well I'm not just picking on them. This year has had Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Metro Redux, The Last of Us Remastered, Sleeping Dogs Remastered, GTA V, Halo Master Chef Cookoff and even Pokemon chucked out a couple like they sometimes do and I might even be missing a couple. Even that stupid awards show with Keighley has a category for Best Remaster. Should we really be giving credence for what is essentially money for old rope? I feel partly to blame as I indulged in a couple and both Metro and Sleeping Dogs' newer version in some parts were not better that the initial offerings. While they had some new additions they lacked some effects or robustness of the previous version on PC.
I don't really see a problem with half of Metro Redux since the original Metro had glaring performance issues no matter how beefy your PC was for a while, so a spreuced up version with alterations that its sequel brought forth is the right way to do it. Including Last Light in the package was pointless though, and a downgrade from what I've seen. GTA V also has noteable new content and largely justified by the PS3 / Xbox 360 versions being inadequate when it comes to overall picture quality and framerate. Still a questionable business call, but at least they put the time to good use for the PC version (extra delays notwithstanding). The new Pokémon doesn't fall in the same camp either since it's a straight-up remake with numerous large-scale changes from a game released what, over a decade ago?

Remasters of the shitty Tomb Raider and Sleepy Dawgs' being a negligible 'upgrade' are the worst offenders for me. The Last of Us also leaves me indifferent; convenient that the majority (not all) of the content is included I suppose as is it receiving a proper framerate, but it doesn't really sit well with me regardless. The one for Dark Souls II falls in the same camp for me with the confirmation that all of the minor content additions will be patched in for the older versions and everything else they announced for it is easily ignorable with how small of a step up it is.

As I said one year ago, I played DS2 beta on PS3 and yes, a downgrade happened. But I played the full game on Steam. I'm really curious to see if the PS4 version will feature the "old" textures.
It won't, the trailer still showed some of the ugly parts (of which there are many) being virtually untouched. Mirror Knight remaining exactly the same says it all. I wouldn't hold out much hope for this "visual upgrade" beyond superficial tweaks.

Not really happy about the Definitive Edition bs with Dark Souls 2's PC Version. They obviously spent time and money upgrading the renderer and adding further content therefore I can't blame them for wanting to get paid and not release the complete upgrade for free but it still leaves a sour taste.

Very sour indeed...

I am not purchasing the new DX11 variant for the PC at all, Namco can beg some other person to purchase it (instead of me).

There doesn't seem to be a significant visual upgrade compared to the existing PC version. Could this be a sleeping dogs type situation where the upgrade is only really justified for last gen console owners?
Saves not carrying over to the new version is very lame.
I dunno, since I still haven't bought any dlc it will depend on the price, a discount for owners of the old version would be nice.

I'm more interested in the balance tweaks myself.

blue smelter and ancient dragon are some of the most ridiculous boss fights this side of deathstroke.

Fine. I won't beat a dead horse.

Just like I won't continue to bad mouth the gaf darling alpha protocol anymore either.

First Geometry Wars 3 reviews and impressions (it's already available on consoles in the US) are very positive, more positive than I expected after some lukewarm comments about preview versions. But no preorder discount and the looming sale....

No no. I want to know what he means.

There was a debate yesterday about whether Deathstroke was a cheap QTE boss in Batman: Arkham Origins. I felt like the boss fight relied on rote memorisation of when to attack/block and was essentially a QTE without the button prompts with little freedom, there was opposition to this. I imagine I was probably either a) not very good or b) completely missed what I was supposed to be doing, because I spent an hour or so on that boss getting increasingly frustrated.

bros to the end. It's lame when people are so blinded by their love of a franchise that they can't recognize when it falls from grace.

I want to buy this game. It's been too long since I've rocked pacifism.

I get the feeling though that the people who love the franchise are going to be much better at combat, free-flow combos etc so that particular boss fight will be less of a challenge and therefore they don't notice that it's structured to their particular style of play. I'm not great at that sort of thing (I'm not terrible at the game, I just haven't sunk a lot of time getting deep into the combat) so I had a much harder time with it and it was much more apparently how inflexible that boss fight was. Compared to something like the Mr Freeze boss fight from the first game where you had to use different methods to attack each time but had a lot more freedom to choose how to attack next (without timing requirements) it's incredibly poor design.

I'm right there with you. I might try to find someone with access to it in the Russian store. I've gotten an offer for $10, which isn't bad.

Dark Souls 2 'remastered' after the first one came out less than a year ago...

...ok

Can you imagine 2025's remaster of 2025's seminal hit Dumapic Souls? In only 3 months, developer FromSoftware was able to slightly tweak AO settings, resulting in a completely different experience. $90 for +1 privilege!!!

Glad I was a bit burnt out on DS around the time of II's release. Now I get to enjoy a newer version fresh. Are current owners gonna go for the DX11 version or waiting to see how it will perform(like Sleeping Dogs)?

A much more populated version of Lordran should be a treat in the coming weeks. Looking forward to jumping back into DS.

Edit: I see DoA 5 Last Round PC is inching ever closer to being official. Why must they tease us like this, and so often?

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything
Paying for a slight graphical upgrade of a game released last year? Finally I can experience the magic of next gen consoles on my PC as well.

Great news about DSII. I've only just gotten around to playing DS this year so this gives me more breathing room till I play the next one.

Also, I finished South Park. Overall, it's a decent paper Mario clone that feels tied to a kinda ok episode of South Park. It took me ten hours, which really makes you wonder why the fine folks over at obsidian took so long to ship the game outside of major development issues they encountered. It'd be fun to read a post mortem on the game's development.

I'll be waiting to see how it performs, what price point it's at, if saves can carry over (officially or unofficially) etc. There's a lot of information I'm lacking to make an informed decision yet. So I'll wait.

As for DOA5 Last Round coming to PC, I'm really glad to see it. More and more fighting game franchises are coming to PC, and that can only be good for the community on PC.

I never got into DOA that much but I think Soul Calibur and/or Tekken is only a matter of time considering that Namco has basically embraced the f2p style for those games.

So are we expecting the Sega Humble Bundle today?

That's a biggie right if Namco want people to double dip on the PC side.
The fighting game resurgence on PC is a great thing to see happening. The other big 3(SC, Tekken, and VF) would be welcome.

Play it!

It easily ties with Skyrim and New Vegas as my favourite RPG of all time.
I don't have a computer that can play it. Really choppy on lowest settings. Skyrim runs better than this game.

It also has a really small font and interface which I can't see, so I'm not sure if I can play it. It might work on the larger monitor I bought recently and I've heard there's patches for larger text. Not sure about the interface though.
