So somebody that I don't know forwarded me a racist email, thinking I was a friend of theirs. I replied back saying "I don't know why you're sending me this, it's massively racist and ignorant", and they replied saying "sorry if this offended you, I didnt feel it was racist or ignorant as it was not spoken out against white people and basically speaks the truth."

This sort of thing happens to me all the time, although usually I'm getting shouted at for having asthma by people I've supposedly dropped in on who are "too empathetic", or getting invited to bachelor parties in America (I'm from the UK).

It's pretty crazy. Not sure whether to post a thread about it, or if it'd just stir up trouble.

So now that The Stomping Land has left the store I take it that means it has officially stopped being worked on? That really sucks. I played it for like 15 hours or so the first 2/3 days it was out with them promising weekly updates and then nothing. I think I even bought two copies as gifts

Anyone played Invisible Inc?
http://store.steampowered.com/app/243970/

Looks super interesting, but I'm not entirely sure how much of a game it is at the moment.

Giant Bomb has an Unfinished video on Invisible Inc which will show you want the gameplay is like. (Word of warning: they mistakenly get stuck in a closet for 10 minutes, which was an error on their part and not a bug in the game.)

From that video, I'd say it looks interesting if you're into turn-based strategy games. At the very least, it is a fully-functional game. Klei has been on a roll lately, too, and I see no reason why Incognita Invisible, Inc will break that streak.

Luxury problems. I kinda want to buy AND AMD code, but the only game I do NOT own already is Habitat and Super Mutant Blobs and I don't think their worth 10$.

And the core game itself is bad? Technically faulty?

I was running round for a couple of minutes, tried making fire, ran into the forest and got killed by a dinosaur which dropped from the air on me.

I'm not too fond of Win8.1 either, but rather than being one big thing (UI), it's mostly a combination of smaller stuff that got on my nerves and made me go back to Win7. I think I gave it a fair shot by using it for a month or two, but it just wasn't for me. Maybe I could have modded the annoyances out, but why bother when I can just use Win7? Supposedly there are performance differences, but I haven't seen anything recent benchmarks or anything regarding those.

I'm looking forward to Win9 though, planning to check out the preview as soon as it's out.

I had no idea Stomping Land was abandoned... How long has it been that way? My friend was just trying to convince me to get it and I turned him down because I was tired of early access survival games.
It's been a while now, but not being able to purchase it is new since yesterday.

Seems like the devs are porting the game to Unreal or something which might explain the lack of updates. This was from early august:

"The game is being moved to Unreal Engine 4 to take advantage of technical and creative opportunities, and while the game was so early in development, I didn't want to keep working for years with a game engine (UDK) that had officially lost support by Epic."

So they might have taken the purchase option down themself to protect themself from negative PR from people buying it.

Doesn't this run entirely on servers?
If he really is pulling the plug on it, I don't think the servers will live long.

Even if it does, I don't think it's worth bothering with. Apparently you can see everything the game has to offer in less than 30 minutes and the community has abandoned the game (around 30 concurrent players atm).

Hope the dev comes out from wherever he's hiding and provides some explanations, he should also offer refunds to all the early adopters. Iirc the game was sitting in the top sellers list for a long time when it launched and I can't imagine how many people have been ripped off

That doesn't explain why the developer lost his Steam Partners access.

I guess someone will at least agree with number 7.

I have no clue if I already said this once, but I don't understand why Steam Cloud support has to be enabled by the developers. Since other backup software do the same thing (i.e., without steamworks), Valve should let the community define where the save files are (or by moderators) whenever it isn't pre-defined by the devs. Obviously there should be some way of preventing cloud uploads of "seedless" procedurally generated games like Terraria.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I decided that I'm going to start doing some research on the games I've finished this year. I'm thinking about entering the 52 game challenge. So far I've found over 25 games just on Steam alone that I've finished this year so I think I'm probably already close if not over.

Exactly. Guess Valve didn't believe his bullshit excuses. It reeks of scam

If a refund will happen, I feel bad for the people who traded for it and won't be getting their money or keys back. It was a popular game when it launched and I imagine that a lot of people got it through trading

I was thinking about entering it too (in 2015 I guess), but I was wondering how to keep track of times.
Keeping notes is NON viable, as I'm 100% I'm gonna forget before passing the first hour of the challenge. :D

I'm building a spreadsheet now and going back through my list of Steam games and remembering which ones I've played (and which I've idled). For the games with achievements, I'm looking at the achievement pages and looking for the "You beat the game" achievement and putting the date in the spreadsheet. For the other games I've beat on Steam that don't have achievements, I'm looking in the client under "date last played" and going by that.

I won't be able to track number of hours played completing the game for this year, but next year I'll add that column to my spreadsheet.

I think it's a pretty neat idea, this spreadsheet is turning into a bit of a "gaming journal" for me, and it's fun to look back over the games I've beat this year and remember them fondly.

If your luck is as good as mine, then sell it.
I don´t have any luck with CS:GO cases. :)

This is the third case I drop. I sold the other two without thinking twice, but now this motherfucking game somehow managed to convince me I'm gonna get totally rich opening it. :D

That's the best part about it. I'm going to be able to beat the 52 challenge this year for sure.

So sold on Ethan Carter after watching the video posted. Looks beautiful, and loved the mechanics. Will see if i'll buy it till the end of the week.

Yup, the meaning is the same for me, but I'm really scared of the moment in mid June I'll realize I forgot to keep track for like 2 weeks, setting off the OCD bomb hidden in my brain.

So, question.

If I released an MP component of my game as F2P, then made the campaign DLC you could buy in the future, approximating shareware within Steam's systems...

how well do you think that would work out?

Word of caution: Tom Bissell is writing it.
