I don't know how to break this to y'all but there's apparently an official Dungeons & Dragons clicker.

Did I wake up in an alternate reality today?

It's kind of a damning snapshot of the D&D license. They're releasing a clicker... "game"... a week before Divinity: Original Sin 2 is coming out. They've had over a decade to get a Neverwinter Nights 3 made, but Larian's basically beaten them to the punch now.

I really like NWN1&2 so this is heartbreaking.

after finishing la noire i'm back to installing a couple dozen games while trying to figure out what i should play

sometimes i feel like i should always keep like two or three easy-to-get-into games on stand by so i can get thru the post game finished blues

hmm

i think you people are massively overstating how much of an improvement the picture on the right is....

If you're playing Blackwell, be sure to play all five in order:
  1. Blackwell Legacy
  2. Blackwell Unbound
  3. Blackwell Convergence
  4. Blackwell Deception
  5. Blackwell Epiphany

They're all kinda-sorta standalone stories, but they tie together into a much bigger, more interesting thing as the games progress.

Enjoy!

If your code doesn't work, send me a PM and I'll set you up with another code. I received two codes from the Kickstarter campaign and forgot which one I already redeemed myself.

You should be able to jump right in. The Divinity games usually have some references to previous games but not much else. The first one is definitely worth playing though and that's an understatement.

Thanks man. I mean it.

Didn't finish Okami on PS2. Still haven't played HD, which I bought a long time ago. Maybe I should try to play it soon so I'm not tempted to buy it again. I was planning on playing Ni No Kuni after I finished Xenoblade X so I might not wind up double dipping on that.

You never played EW? It's such a big upgrade over the basegame.

Post release i could never again imagine myself playing without expansion.

It also got the single best mission if xcom1. Prepare to die.

Did xcom1 had the "stop wasting my time" mod? If so install that
ye never played enemy within

If you're playing Blackwell, be sure to play all five in order:
  1. Blackwell Legacy
  2. Blackwell Unbound
  3. Blackwell Convergence
  4. Blackwell Deception
  5. Blackwell Epiphany

ye i've played all the rest

I recently finished Broken Sword 1 and wrote about it here

I strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relaxing game to play, and even then it is a game with great visuals, music and voice acting. Play the original game, which is offered to Steam users now, and use SCUMMVM since it is compatible with it.
The original games are DLC, so simply check the DLC pages for BS1 and 2 and get the original games for free.

what do you mean use scummvm?

A game "presented by Humble Bundle" is going to be released in Early Access on October 5th (which is a day before the first Friday of October). Maybe an Humble Monthly Debut?

Why does he wear the mask!?
How far away are we from 4k, HDR Gsync screens?

I dread to think how much they'll cost too

I hope so! Looks interesting. Though I thought they stopped with those originals.

It is Debut, not Original!

Debut: the game is released on Steam on the same day as it is released in the Monthly. You get a key.

Original: the game is released in the Humble Monthly as a prototype, then a word is appended to the name of the game, and the game is released on Steam six months later. You likely don't get a key, at best a discount.

They are probably asking too much for the D&D license for what it's worth today. Multiple CRPGs have already come out with their own universes and did just fine. I can see how developer would prefer just coming up with their own thing than paying WoC coast. The gameplay systems are worth nothing.

I'm really curious to see what lesson the big companies take away from PUBG success but I fully expect an attempt at copying it during the next E3.

I personally didn't enjoy the game at all but I admit it makes an excellent spectator experience.

Ah yes you are right! Mixed them up, so yeah debut is the one one wants.:D It is the one I also thought they stopped with, hasn't been one in awhile.

Large scale battle royale arenas, with a shared social space before each match where you can equip your builds and watch others open all their random loot boxes.

For you.
A Ghost Recon Woodlands Battle Royale game or expansion would be a extremely smart thing to make. Though it don't think Ubisoft can pull 100 people playing at the same time in a shared map on their engine.

Everything you ever wanted! 4K*, gameplay affecting microtransactions, 30FPS and the best rocks you've ever seen in a Battle Royale game.

*but not really

Install rivatuner beta, there's a thread at guru3d forums.

Edit: wait, rivatuner? I read that as Afterburner.
Do you actually mean afterburner/rtss combo?

Works fine. Just get the latest one from guru3d. if you are using the one that came with MSI afterburner. Yes that one did not work for me.

There's beta versions of rtss that are compatible with the creators update, I'm using 7.0.0 beta 25 with msi afterburner 4.4.0 beta 11 atm.

The problem from what I understand is Hasbro (who owns Wizards of the Coast and in turn, Dungeon's and Dragons) wants only a Disney type image with their properties.Developers can't even use everything in the books and modules because it falls outside of Hasbro's Family Friendly marketing.
Go to the official web site and tell me what you see: http://dnd.wizards.com/

So a lot of companies who could afford to licenses DnD don't because it isn't worth fighting Hasbro to create a decent product. It's also why no one wanted to touch the Gamma World game after Bedlam Games folded.

They did add that survival mode to The Division, didn't get to play it that much but it seemed quite alright.

Could you maybe rein in your whole Trails PC doom and gloom thing a bit? Please? It's a happy milestone story and somehow you managed to slip in "lackluster" and "awful" when talking about it.

but it is true, I can't fathom how such a good series can't sell on PC, it's awful and horrible, and why?!

you know that Falcom was PC dev for years and moved to consoles, doom and gloom talk is very much relevant here.

Why? PC numbers are probably somewhere around 20-30k including GoG and humble.
For simplicity's sake let's just assume the series sold 1mio without PC.
That means 250k per game per platform over a span of 4 years for the first game and 3 years for the 2nd one and they could be gotten for 10-20€ during sales, whereas the PC version has been out for a month and is 40€ and only 1 out of 2 games is available.
If anything those numbers show that the PC version is going to stack up quite nicely in comparison to the console versions over time.

Jeez.

4 year argument works for PC, not for consoles, we all know how frontloaded sales are there, meaning most of what games sell, they sell in first weeks, not even months!
And according to steamspy Cold Steel didn't break even 20K on steam... in a month. Of course it will sell more over time, that's how PC works, but saying those numbers are good as compared to consoles, c'mon now

oh yeah, and console version price was $40, so what that price argument even means?

So the Tyranny expansion is out...
Is it just me or does it feel lackluster? (compared to things like ToB or White March)

I feel like everything interesting is already part of the patch anyway.

As Sara (I believe) said, the sell on Gog way better than you'd expect. Also all your gloom and dooming won't change the fact that they are profitable for all interested parties, as evident by this year's number of new PC Falcom releases

that's not what the talk is about, it's about why it sell so poorly on PC compared to consoles.
And I'm real glad that gog works well for them.

I don't own it, but I still don't get what it even adds? The store description is really scattershot, reading more like the patch/expansion announcement than an attempt to describe the DLC on its own.

Unfortunately, even if it sounded really good (and the Tyranny OT isn't giving me a lot of hope), XCOM 2: War of the Chosen has consumed me, and Divinity 2 will consume it. There's no time for anything less than the best this month.

Oh, this explains so much. What a bummer.

It's really weird being in a world where Warhammer is more prolific than D&D (in gaming, at least).

It's important to note that the 1 million figure is for the worldwide sales of the Cold Steel series, so, it's including the sales of both Cold Steel 1 and 2 and it's including Japanese sales numbers.

The PC version numbers aren't great though, but I guess we'll see how it does over time.

It's easy to comprehend though:
Cold Steel released 2 years ago for 40 dollars on PS3/Vita.
It released 1 month ago for 40 dollars on Steam.
Hence why the price is important.
So basically, we're comparing sales of two game sold on PS3/Vita, from 4 years ago.

Hence why the comparison makes no sense. Because we're comparing the sale of Cold Steel 1 and 2 on PS3/Vita since 4 years ago as a whole... versus one month of Cold Steel on Steam.

According to this at least 400k of those are from Japan, those numbers are from 2014 and without digital. Disregarding those unknowns this leaves 600k for Cold Steel I & II PS3+Vita in the west, which would at average be around 150k for each platform sold over a timespan of 3-4 years.
Considering that, how is 20-30k sales of a 4 year old niche as fuck game sold at 40€, that can be bought for less than half the price on others platforms, during launch a complete disaster?
Talk to me in a year or 2 again.

This doom and gloom shit is getting really fucking tiring.

XSeed's doing well, stop worrying people. Now of course, releases like Xanadu Next and Little King Story did bad (even though all hope isn't lost), but the rest did well enough to stop being so dramatic.

No guys, we need to thinks about the whole asian market for once, for japanese games it is more important than the entire western market now.
Last year XSEED said Kiseki games sold 350K on west across all the platforms and we should remember that back then Sora FC was around 200K on Steamspy.
What about the PSP versions of Sora? what about GOG e Humble Bundle? Probably Sen I on PS3 and Vita sold less than 100K on west.

When I logged in today, I suddenly had three new cards in my inventory for Machinarium, a game that I haven't touched in ages. Individual cards, not a pack, which seems a bit odd.

Is this a common thing? Apparently the game just got cards added today.

Yes, if you've played a game long enough and it gets cards added you get the cards for it. Was added when they changed it to not let new games have cards without sufficient sales.

If you've previously played a game for the required time to drop all the cards, 2-4 hours I imagine, and the game subsequently adds cards you get them all at once now. Happens every now and then, the Baldur's Gate games added them a while back.

That's hilarious. Let's add it to the list. No good reason to bother with the license then.

I think I would like a game based on D&D, but I just dont think it's needed these days or that the name would bring in a bigger audience.

What happened to Steam new UI? I thought it would be released soon weeks ago? Valve time?

Technically, Summer doesn't end in the US for another couple weeks, so the beta could still happen before it becomes another example of Valve Time (but probably not).

I can`t help it, I really want these games to succeed but the numbers just keep saying otherwise and just keep making me more and more bitter

Famitsu puts CS1 at 237.203 and CS2 at 218693, there is also the Chinese and Korean releases of both games (they bothered with a simultaneous release for CS2 so i can`t imagine them being irrelevant) In the last 10 months, 80-90k were sold on consoles, in 2 years SC only sold 50k on PC, do you really think CS1 and 2 will sell those kind of numbers on PC with time?

It is getting tiring when it's baseless like this.

Senran Kagura did good, Fate did ok but the rest? I wouldn't say they are doing good
And in Trails case you need to consider that the series always sees a steep drop between entries, what should we expect of CS2 if CS1 can barely break 20k?
What about CS3, why should they bother porting it? (I'm also not sure how receptive people are to $60 Falcom games, lots of people complaining about Ys VIII and preorders don't look so hot, but I'm waiting for more definitive numbers on that and Tokyo Xanadu before complaining about that)

Coliseum is hard. It is the only 1% that I am missing to complete Hollow Knight and the Hunter's journal. Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

If I were to finish Coliseum, I would instantly earn 4 achievements (coliseum, 100%, hunter's journal, hunter's mark). But it is so hard!
