Another week, another update on steam:

This week we're proud to announce the winners of the Half-Life 2: Deathmatch mapping contest. We were blown away by the quality of the levels that were entered; we think the community will be as well when the winning maps are released on Steam.

One reason to have a contest like this is to highlight the quality of work that the community is capable of producing. Over the next few weeks it will be just as exciting to see the community playing full games that MOD developers are currently working on.

Nothing really exciting, except for the last part. Can't wait untill MOD developers start releasing there stuff. Its going to be awesome.

I had a feeling the winner was going to be a map that had beta versions floating around on servers. I haven't seen the other two yet so that should provide some new kicks.

I wish they'd release an SDK update or something that made it easy for people to put the SLAM into their maps. It's an awesome weapon but none of the popular maps made before it came out have been updated to include it.
