Steamdeck Exclusives: Games you played till credits on Steamdeck

Ok, but is it much harder in comparison to a classic gamepad?
To be fair, I almost ALWAYS use an Xbox pad.

I have used it's native controls, It works well enough. I myself, if forced, could beat Dark Souls with it. The native controls are good. I just more prefer an xbox pad paired to it.

I cant lie that was a good deal still! I cant top that. :messenger_grinning_sweat:👊
For the price, it's an absolute STEAL.

Would I pay the $500 or however much an OLED is? No. Especially with the MAYBE hope of a steam deck 2 in a year or two.

I'd love an Ally X or whatever. But them things like $900? Or something? Phew

To be a steamdeck exclusive the game must be able to run to 40fps or higher and be able to present all the graphical features of the game.

Yeah I know how Steam Input works, and I don't know why you think I don't. :goog_relieved:
I assumed that because you explicitly mentioned it for one title but not for the others. I figured that this particular game natively supports gyro aiming, and assumed that someone who doesn't know how to set up gyro aim in all games would be surprised by a game that uses the feature out of the box.

How is Fear and Max Payne? I seem to recall trying and it was futile. Those games need updated. Maybe I am misremembering
What do you mean by that? Do you mean in terms of the games' content? That's a matter of taste - I liked both.
They run perfectly on the Deck; you just need to take a bit of time to set up the controls the way you like, and then you can play them beautifully.

F.E.A.R. in particular is a gem on the Deck, like I mentioned here some time ago.

I started replaying F.E.A.R. yesterday on my Deck and just had to record a video :

I'm stunned.
In the game, water has no important role at all, and yet F.E.A.R. manages to present water in a more interactive and interesting way than most of today's games.

And let's face it, the game is from 2005, so it's almost 17 years old.

By the way, it runs on just under 8watts on the Deck, absolutely amazing when I consider that my 600watt PC was really struggling back then.

Haven't rolled credits on both, but I'm currently playing through the Middle Earth series. They were in my backlog for so long.
Run flawlessly on the deck and looks and plays great

How are you guys enjoying your Steam Decks in 2025? Do you think it's worth getting or should people wait another year or so for the next hardware iteration?
I bought the OLED model at the beginning of the year and I absolutly love it. It fast became my most played device. I bought around a dozen games for it (all deeply discounted in steam sales) and have 50+ games on my wishlist. Which keeps growing!

It's just so versatile. I use it to play:
  • Recent AAA-games that work well on it, or are very suited for handheld which compensates the lack in graphical quality. Games like Yakuza: Ishin!, Robocop, Armoured Core VI, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Diablo IV, Sand Land, Kunitsu-Gami. I have my eye on Civ7 once the game gets improved.
  • Older PC games that are impossible or difficult to play anywhere else if you didn't keep your older consoles. So far, I have (re)played Half Life 2, Halo MasterChief Collection, XCom: Enemy Within, The Bureau Declassified, The Cave, Prey and Max Payne 3.
  • Indie games like Dave the Diver, Vampire Survivor, Into the Breach and Dome Keeper run great on it.
  • Older games that are modded by the community with better graphics and higher framerates. OutRun2 and Final Fantasy IX are dreams come true. Black Mesa is a great fanmade remaster of Half Life.
  • Emulation! This thing really emulates almost everything up until Nintendo Switch. But I mostly play older NeoGeo (Metal Slug) and SNES games (Chrono Trigger) which really look beautifull on the OLED screen.
  • I experimented a little bit with early access, but that is often a bit rough because optimizing the game for SteamDeck is often not high on the priority list. But it is a nice feeling to support the developers and experience a game like No Rest for the Wicked early.
My goal now is the slowly build up a nice library. I also own a PS5 and Switch, and pre-ordered a Switch 2. But those are mostly used by my kids and for Nintendo exclusives. As a 50 year old gamer, this feels like an adult device that offers the perfect combination of comfort, nostalgia and slower modern games. And since I am patient and don't have the fomo of playing the newest games, I just consider newer games that don't run well (like Rebirth) as the Steam sales of tomorrow.

My only regret is not getting it sooner. SteamDeck 2 will be a day one purchase for sure!

oh shit!
How are these really?
I loved BM1 (the original one). I know the sequels are not made by czech team.

BM 2 is top-tier if you liked the 1st one really. Doesn't have any flaw for me. The music theme is fitting, it has a lot of different locations, alternate between eerie places and nice coastal panoramas. I also loved the story and characters.
BM3 goes downward. It's shorter, some plots are not very convincing, it goes around in circle and has a lot of recycled places from 2 because it clearly had a lesser budget. Ending is a bit brutal also. However, on the very positive side, part of the game is really "cthulhu" oriented and as such, even more eerie.
I'd rate BM 2 a solid 9/10 ; BM3 6 but still worth it for the last part.

I got an LCD deck in early 2023 and then upgraded to the OLED when it released, so it has been a couple of years playing consistently on the deck. Here are the games I have rolled credits on (in order of when I finished them):

Fallout 3 and DLC expansions
Spelunky
Borderlands 3
Tomb Raider: Legend
RAGE and The Scorchers DLC
LEGO Lord of the Rings
Assassin's Creed III Remastered
Half-Life
DOOM (1993)
PuzzleQuest: Challenge of the Warlords
Psychonauts (okay...I did give up on the Meat Circus)
Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster
Quake
Half-Life: Opposing Force
Deus Ex - GOTY Edition
Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Of these, Fallout 3, RAGE, Half-Life, Psychonauts (those colors on the OLED!), Dark Forces, Quake, and Deus Ex were just great experiences. Since I prefer controller over M+KB, I think this was the best way I could have played some of those titles.

There are a number of other games that I played back and forth between the Deck and my gaming PC, but the PC was probably on average the better experience. Some of these are: The Last of Us Part 1, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition (just due to pains with the EA launcher), Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, Dragon Age Inquisition and DLCs.

Not really exclusive, Sonic Unleashed Recomp. That game runs so well on the deck. It loads from cold boot INSTANTLY. Faster then steam store purchased games. Must be the DRM?

yup. when all the AAA publisher bullshit bloat, like DRM or online checks, is gone, you can feel just how fast a game can boot.

it really almost jumpscared me when I first installed it on my desktop PC, and then again when I installed it on the Deck 😂

None. I've owned a Steam Deck three times and not once have I exclusively played a game on Deck.

Not even Aperture Desk Job as I played it on my tv with a regular controller once to see how it worked without stuff like the back buttons and the touch pads.

None but I don't play much PC games. I loved the 3rd person coop Dark Alliance but nobody is playing online. I also think it's one of the best place to play The Elder Scrolls Online and FF14. I've almost finished Phantom Fury but I got bored, also it runs better on ROG Ally.

To be fair, I mostly play on console or Switch. PC is my multiplayer place.
