Stella has been removed from FFXV; Itamuro writing game; Demo 2 June 9; FFXV not @ E3

I burst out laughing haha, those synchronized cartwheels please.

People who say this will be a mess are missing the fact that what they are doing is exactly what you do to avoid a mess. As Tabata said, they wanted a coherent story without compromises, some part of the original story didn't work with what the game has become (an actual game and not just cool trailers) so they changed them.

I'm not going to convince anyone to change their minds, people will be mad for whatever reasons. I just hope Tabata will be able to succeed like Yoshida did with FFXIV (despite everybody laughing at the possibility of saving a failed MMORPG). I think his attitude is what this game needed, take unpopular decisions but get the job done.

Tabata is a man with a plan, I respect the man for having the balls to do what needs to be done, I guess versus was meant to be told throughout multiple games but if they truly want a standalone game they had to alter things. So like you said he made the unpopular decisions and I hope he succeeds.

It was said before that FFXV might not be at E3. Nice to have confirmation. It makes the original conference time they selected (the one Nintendo has been using for years) even more crazy. What the hell was SE thinking!?

Honestly, if you thought the story of a game originally helmed by Nomura (see Kingdom Hearts) passed to Tabata (who directed and came up with Type0, the mess of a story that was) was going to be good, you are probably too optimistic.

Yeah, because Kingdom Hearts does not have a mess of a story that is far up its own ass...

And a different story too, Luna is just not Stella with different hair, she is a completely new character.

I said once that FFXV was slowly evolving into something else from VersusXIII, even if they are not big changes, they still can impact the tone of the game, and gameplay of course.

They literally ripped a character with as much story importance as Noctis right out of the game. I wouldn't say they are not "big changes".

Everything changed from VsXIII. The character designs from Nomura only have a face designed by him now (the clothes are from Roenn), the story changed (and the scriptwriter changed along with it), the director changed, the gameplay changed (drastically), the team changed. Heck, the engine they're making the game on is not even finished.

What is left of Versus now? Shimomura?

Exactly. A game is worth nothing if it won't be finished.

You have no clue how any of that would have panned out nor how much of that is still retained in the final version.

There still very well might be a Romeo/Juliet plot angle or whatever.

My highlighting the issue is not to say they cant retain things, or even about Stella/Luna herself. My thing is, changing these elements after saying things were staying basically the same in 2013(the changed the name and the character lets not forget, this is fact we are hearing about now), its a big shake to the people who were trying to be optimistic about the stability of this project, changing major things like that when its supposed to be smooth sailing after the supposed reboot

It's messed up. FF used to be my absolute favorite series from SNES through PS2.

FFXII put a crack in the armor. I loved the gambits and offline mmo world exploration and combat. The story was bland and suffered though. After hearing that the main character was changed from Basch to Vaan, the story was supposed to be darker, and the guy heading the project left or was replaced mid development, I understand how the game's story and direction could fall short.

Then came FFXIII and ripped a huge ass hole in that FF armor.

The original release of FFXIV snuck me and held me in place for what was coming next.

Now the deathblow. Finally comes FFXV and its development trials and changes, seemingly here to finish off my enthusiasm for the series.

I hold out small hope for this game, because of the amazing turn around of FFXIV ARR that I hear about. But right now, FFXV reeks of a game that would have been canceled if it were any other name. And so much time, money, and effort has been put in it, so they may as well release it to help recoup a bit of the costs.

I don't want to naysay, but I'm keeping my expectations for this game in check. If SE is concerned that canceling this game to start fresh will do major damage to the FF name, then I hope they realize what releasing a stinker will do to it.

uggh, just show me FF16 at this point

Exactly.

Only at Square Enix can multiple playable characters be too ambitious. This game is a goddamn mess. It's not coming until 2017, mark my words. No trailer at E3 even though you are having your first full press conference? Rofl

Is it worth playing the demo now then again when it's updated or should I just wait?

Have had a demo code since it has come out but never had the time to play it until now.

Imagine if FFXVI was at E3 2015

I mean

-All male party
-Messy writer change
-No strong female characters, are the summons all male too? Poor Shiva :(

This game is shaping up to be a mess

Queen Lightning doesn't look so bad now, does she GAF? Praying for FFXIII-4 @ this point

Im guessing Luna will be a better character than Lightning.
unless something goes really wrong

The rest... well at least its something new.

It's been apparent that this whole thing has been a fuck up. We don't know how much Nomura actually did on the game nor did we have a full idea of the narrative. Yes there have been changes to elements we were aware about, but without more context on both the past as well as the present state of the story, I find it meaningless to really get up in arms about plot changes.

The bigger problem is the change in scriptwriter.

I don't really get this. Why change the character? I'm not invested in either character and never was, but it's so strange. "We changed this female character into a very similar character and with almost the same name". Why not, you know, leave it as it was?

Well, if enough people agree with that, I hope you have a 3DS. SE said the future of Final Fantasy on console depends on XV's sales.

I would be entirely okay with Final Fantasy moving to portables, honestly. At the very least, it would help manage the scope problems they seem to have with huge budget FF games. Can't say I would dig it on phones though. Maybe if I picked up one of those controllers for phones.

Because they didn't change her into a similar character? It's right in the OP, they re-wrote her whole arc and story. Different character, different name.

So FFXV is basically about an all male cast travelling around in their car fighting monsters and any female characters are seemingly only a minor, disposable element of the story?

Must be a lot of Supernatural fans at Square-Enix :P
LOL this accuracy

Despite some faults Nojima probably was Square's best script writer after Matsuno.

Though I'm fine with the script being done by someone new and relatively unproven if it means FF is finally moving away from Toriyama & Watanabe

The Roen clothes are from Versus XIII.

Where did they say this?

Also, FFXVI as a 16 bit throwback on cell phones? I'm fucking in.

If you didn't watch the video, it's internally decided that her role in the story doesn't make any sense with the new changes to the script, that is why.

Lemme introduce you to Kemco...
