Stella has been removed from FFXV; Itamuro writing game; Demo 2 June 9; FFXV not @ E3

These are just Nomura things. But awesome things nonetheless.

They better make a good trailer for Gamescom, man. I think getting a Nomura-edited trailer is impossible at this point, though. :/
You will get your Nomura trailer fix with Kingdom Hearts 3. He ain't going to make one for FF XV now.

Since you guys were talking FF14 I have an excuse to post this article I enjoyed reading.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/05/meet-the-man-who-redeemed-final-fantasy

An optimistic quote from Naoki Yoshida:
“Of course, with XV coming out as a standalone title, that’s very important. But it’s not only XV - we need to be able to do more and bring back that impact that Final Fantasy gave us when we ourselves played it for the first time. That shock – the good kind of shock – and try to bring that back. Maybe we won’t do that before Final Fantasy XVI. Maybe it’ll be even further in the future. But I still feel we need to continue to strive to improve... There’s a long road ahead."

His quote makes it sound like FF XVI is already in pre-production :D

I might have not played FF XIV (to completion) but I love this guy. He bought a lot of respect back to the series Hopefully Tabata does the same and makes FF XV the one of the best FF game :)

yea. but I do think these quotes from 2013 is probably gone too..

Why do you think they are gone? I bet they are still there. No reason to think they have been removed.
Those types of poetry lines were in the XIII trailers too. I think they're just a late-2000s Square Enix trailer trademark. It's not necessarily for the game.

Thanks for posting that. First Tabata and now Yoshida are saying FFXV is a standalone title. Does that mean "World of the Versus Epic" (which we assumed to mean sequels/spinoffs) is dead?

Pretty much.

But the whole crystal storyline is probably still in this, right?

World of Versus Epic was long dead after E3. I remember Kagari stating as much back when it was revealed at TGS.

I don't think we are going to get sequels but if FF XV is popular enough, we will get spin-offs based on the characters.

If Yoshida wasn't busy with xiv and ito with xvi (I'm half in dreamland)then I'd love to see him direct a sp mainline title.

I wonder if they'd ever go for a lower budget title that also releases on the NX in a few years.

Yea World of the Versus Epic is dead for sure now.

I remember SE trademarked that thing lol.

Yoshida is a really cool ,respectable and likeable person ,but so is Tabata!

I think Tabata delivered much more than talk since he came to lead FFXV.

Regular updates and an actual playable demo happened. Not to mention there is a tremendous amount of effort being poured into the game.

I think its fully within a director's rights to change or adjust a game as he sees fit.The result will be more cohesive and authentic this way.

This is just my speculation but....... we know that Noctis still has some kind of "power from the stars" that lets him control summons (mentioned in Japanese magazines late last year). Whether or not this is the same as his "eyes that see expiring souls" power aka "gift from Etro" that he shared with Stella (RIP), who knows. I don't.

i don't want to live on this planet anymore.gif

The real question is, how many babies this year will be named Stella Nox Fleuret

In Episode Duscae alone Noctis' eyes still flash red, and his hair still flashes rainbow colors if you look carefully.

sadly still doesn't shoot frisbees from hair though

Yep, was going to mention that. As seen in the very first 2006 (or 2007?) trailer.
But Tabata is destroying Nomura's vision u guyze

Nomura did mention back in 2013 that his eye turning red was related to his warping ability. But in Duscae it seems it's related to the summon (and power of the star)

I wonder if this is one of the element that was changed.

FFXV confirmed for Blind state causing no summons instead of Silence state.

Balding state confirmed for no magic

Nomura made it sound like the eyes were only for magic. Which is kinda weird. We haven't really seen those eyes being used for any story purposes yet.

Honestly, the whole red eyes thing is something that'll be either a huge hit or a miss. My fanfic goes that Noctis can use this power to sense the death of others but can't do anything to stop it.

Haven't been keeping tracks on FF games since how super sucky FF13 was, but can someone explain how did a thread about changing a character in a still in-development game managed to get so many pages?

I still think boyband roadtrip FF15 looks awkward and i bet the writing and core story would still be a silly, convoluted mess like FF13, with all the crazy names and terms.

If we did that every time someone asked the thread would be twice as long.

Funny how it works out D:

Yeah, I see XV as a potentially very good game. One they can build off of.

Final Fantasy doesn't just need "redeeming". It needs to evolve while maintaining the spirit of the series.

"All those" isn't that much really when we stopped seeing the Shakespeare quotes in 2009.

When the game was shown off in 2011, there were no Shakespeare quotes. There weren't any either when it showed up in 2013. So, even under Nomura it wasn't significant enough to be in the newer trailers.

Why do you think they are gone? I bet they are still there. No reason to think they have been removed.

We haven't seen them since 2013, I think that's a pretty good reason to think that they are gone.

The narrative poetry style was a theme for Versus XIII up until 2013 but that's just looking at the trailers.

Imo we never had information on whether or not the lyrical style was to be implemented into the final game.
Nomura said he wanted to make Versus XIII a musical at one point so you could argue that almost happened. Heh.

LOL. Maybe this was the reason he left. Square Enix didn't agree with the musical idea. /gossip

But yeah, Nomura trailers were awesomesauce.

I am pretty salty about some of the original concepts being tossed out, but at the same time, I'd rather Tabata not try to hamfist his own direction into concepts he didn't decide on in the first place. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and let him do his own thing without getting upset about it.

I think everyone involved is striving to find a good balance. That's what they have been communicating so far. So what you said sounds very reasonable to me.

There's a serious amount of work being put into the game.I think we can all look forward to something substantial out of FFXV.

E3 2013 was unreal. Especially the beginning part of it with the grass and the strings music.

I think many people were almost brought to tears when they saw that reveal :v

Doesnt really sound like we're getting nomura's original vision anymore.

I'm fine with that. He probably would've made every character each other's rival, mandated there be a half-baked, unsupported, local-only multiplayer mode, make 13 playable characters who serve 13 different factions governed by 13 gods powered by 13 capital C Crystals, who must ultimately learn to forge new memories together before feelings and time are eradicated or something by the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo.

I've always believed Nomura is best suited for the hyper imaginative types of story's like KH. Hell, he probably would have made a better XIII than what we got.

Personally, I don't think he'd have delivered on Versus the way some imagine. Obviously we'll never know but XV seems to be in good hands with Tabata.

ayy lmao. This makes it sound like Nomura stories are a bad thing.

Yeah, i'd actually love the plot to be more grounded, political themed (which is kinda what it points to), like FFXII.
Tabata has a record with Type-0, where the war between elements was good, but it got slaughtered by the remaining shit. Hope he can improve on that.

Nomura is best suited for directing trailers that hype the shit out of gullible fanboys with sprinkles of pretentious latin key phrases to never ever releasing it, leaving the project to someone else who became a scapegoat for trying to salvage the vaporware and actually make a game with proper closure and readied to be shipped within a realistic time frame.

Don't kill me. ;_;

I honestly wonder, whether or not the current changes mentioned in the recent ATR were after the debut of the E3 2013 trailer (i.e. when SE rebranded Versus as FFXV). On another note, what would Luna's casual wear be outside of the white dress shown in the trailer - personally, it would be awesome to see Luna in "Stella's" attire in 2006/07.

It's 100% after the E3 2013 trailer.

Damn. You're right. Since there's a scene of Noctis in his suit, and we were all told by Tabata that the party scene has been cut from the game.

Also, if you read the dialogues from the E3 2013 trailer carefully, it's all from the invasion of Lucis (although most of the actual clip takes place from Accordo.

Sigh. And I was hoping, that some parts of the trailer were still in game but we wouldn't know until we've played the final product.

I was under the impression that Square simply renamed Versus XIII to XV. I had no idea that it was a significantly different game.

This is blowing my mind right now.
It's a futile thing to think about, since we don't know what Versus XIII was morphing into before the change to FFXV. It's been in the oven for so long, it's just as likely that many of the changes we hear of today were already decided under Nomura's direction. When the game was stuck into pre-production limbo, you've got a lot of time to retool the fundamentals in drastic ways.

Oh for sure. It doesn't take very long to develop a mobile game.
Stone cold.

Stella was definitely redesigned under Nomura's direction.

Luna's current design is definitely the same one that Stella would've used, had Nomura been director.

This design was dumped long ago, even by Nomura.

Oh I know Stella was redesigned by Nomura. He said that himself in the interview. I was talking about the actual changes of contents from E3 trailer (car scene, insomnia stuff)

I'm super bummed FFXV will be skipping the second E3 in a row after the 2013 reveal.

They better be bringing the KH3 guns then. Unlike FFXV which has been shown a couple times since the initial reveal, we haven't seen shit about KH3 since 2013.

I don't think we'll see KHIII yet. The D23 expo will probably be the first time we see this. I expect all of E3 from SE to be Western focused games, and HD remaster announcements.

They are gonna be at Gamescom in August so you won't have to wait for long. Depending on where I am I might attend :3

I fear (or rather soberly expect) that you are correct.

Just what a shame that there wouldn't be a big Japan studio Square game at their first E3 press conference :(

Guys, but what if they announce Chrono 3 for next gen- STOP IT inner child, just stop it :(

Might settle for XII HD, tho.

I was channel surfing today, only to see How Stella Got Her Grove Back on one of the movie channels, followed by 'Stella' on one of the UK ones. Ouch. I just needed A Streetcar Named Desire for the perfect heartbreaking trinity. Too soon.

At any rate, I'm curious to see Luna in action. C'mon, Gamescom!

If that e3 2013 trailer was also nomura... I'm legit way sadder for the future of 15. I know it's silly of me but cool trailers get me so excited

It is pretty damn amusing that a game that will take ten years to develop from announcement will likely be rushed and stripped down.

DNF did take 15 years though, so it won't go down as the biggest debacle ever.
