Does the first game get better after the demo? I ended the demo with the impression the game is all about flash and her butt, but core gameplay felt pretty mid. Not bad, just nothing good about it.

I still have it on my wishlist and it's 20% off on steam right now, but... I dunno.

Yes, most of the combat abilities are still locked on the demo as thats the beginning of the game. So you only have access to basic attacks and all the flashy and cool stuff is unlocked as you progress. The game is also a mix of linear stages with open world maps, the main story happens all in the linear stages while the open world areas serve to do side quests, exploration, enviromental puzzles, collectibles and optional boss fights. There are also a couple surprize stages that completelly change the gameplay mechanics.

If you play the extra boss fight from the demo where the character already has more of the habilities unlocked, you get a better idea how the game will play. If the demo did not convinced you, either skip it or wait for a good promo.

I believe Korean and Chinese devs really value thier brands and IPs, won't be releasing a half-assed game just for cash grab.

Plus, non-exclusivity doesn't necessary mean no Sony support. For instance many Sony's China Hero project games are on Xbox.

It does if SIE is not funding it and there is no XDev JP production support. But that's what XDev does, production support, they have nothing to do with any technical aspects (or any creative aspects for the most part), so yogaflame has no idea of what he's talking about.

XDEV dont have creative influence but they do assist with the technical aspects of the game. Especially the console optimization part. Thers a reason that Nikke that used more than 100 devs still released filled with bugs and took them a good 2 or 3 months to iron them out. While Stellar Blade was bug free since day 1. I even did my 1st run with the game unpatched to remove the censorship and didnt found a single bug in 60h of unpatched gameplay on the PS5.

Unless they drastically change it, it won't be an open world game. Semi-linear with some big zones should be pretty good on UE5.

If nothing else, it should reduce the frequency of low resolution textures you can run across the first games world.

This time my man's criticism is warranted. The low res texture in the game was really striking. The game was only like 40 GB in size on PS5, shoulda included higher res pack.

Yeah, the level structure not being full open-world should help...and those texture remind me of what I saw with FF7 Rebirth on PS5 all the time in the open areas, using UE4 too.

It's the same issue Rebirth had, both these games also still on the aging UE4.

SB2 will probably make a successful shift to UE5 but with VIIR-3, I expect them to stick to UE4 just because it's a massive RPG and they need to have a lot of content for it.

According to Shift Up, Sony approached them in 2021 after legendary Shuhei Yoshida showed interest in the game's prototype. The collaboration with Sony has been significant, with the company providing lots of support to the studio. This support includes full localization, marketing, testing, and sharing tools from internal PlayStation studios with the developers.

Thanks to Sony's help, Stellar Blade was localized in 22 languages. The demo version features voice acting in 9 languages and subtitles in 22. Initially planned as a small game, the partnership with Sony led to a substantial expansion of the project.

Why would they consider PC a competitor when pc is not a console. If anything they will try and double down and see how they can make money through their own launcher. Some of you just don't get it. Sonys budgets for first party games are way higher than Nintendo. I don't see them stopping when they have said pc ports print money for them. The Shareholders have spoken. The teams that share internal tools (presumably, internal development studios at SIE) and the ones that do testing (quality assurance, that also work on every single SIE title) are not the same. QA is not technical support by any means, and neither is, IMO, sharing development tools.
Either way, none of these things are even done by XDev in the first place, which is what I was referring to intiially.

First of all I never said a launcher for Stellar Blade 2 I meant a launcher in general. Sony wants to have a stronger presence in Japan which why wouldn't they its their home country. I don't think it's because they want to compete with Nintendo because it's expensive as shit to get a PS5 in Japan if they can lower the price and get more sales what's the problem. I don't think Sony will ever look at PC as a competitor because their games are on there and they will always put games there. They want to have more Eastern presence and other than Japan PC dominates in the East.

Goddess of Victory was released in November 2022.
