Stellar Blade devs on why the protagonist is sexy: "That's what players want most of the time"

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
People like good looking things, news at 11.

I mean, shit, why are people trying to force to accept not good looking game characters and haven’t they noticed people made fun of them?

Like it’s like forcing a person to accept that an Uber cheap, rat infested NY apartment at the slums is the norm at an architectural design magazine.

What I really mean is her design is not my favorite . Not denying her beauty lol.
Her face does look like some artworks from my favorite artist. Since he is Korean artist there is good chance he worked in this game too.

Stellar Blade is sexist, but its developer doesn't see the problem

Hyung-Tae Kim continues and digs in, “ Honestly, when I play a game, I want to see someone who is much prettier than me. I don't want to see someone normal, I want to see an ideal. I think it's important for entertainment. And, after all, it is entertainment aimed at an adult audience. » If we follow this reasoning, his ideal therefore seems to resemble a pornographic actress with the face of an angel, an image with which it is difficult to identify and which conveys old sexist overtones. The problem isn't really the decision to go for an attractive character, but to turn him into a sort of doll that you can dress up at will in outfits that make no sense from one point of view.

In the 90's no gamer would complain about this, only groups outside the gaming community such as religious groups or TV/newspaper journalists.

Now these types have infiltrated the gaming community. Almost every single game journalist and a lot of players themselves are now the religious nut who complained about videogames in the 90's. This is what happens when your hobby becomes mainstream.

How is that any different than any fighting games that has tons of costumes?

I guess SF6 is sexist as well?

Reality is sexist. Which is why social conventions like "Women and children first" or "Ladies First" exist, as well as it being taboo for a man to strike a woman, even if she initiates physical violence against him. The very concept of chivalry is sexist. As far as ShiftUp and it's supporters are concerned, myself being one of them. THERE IS NO PROBLEM.

Do these people even know what sexism, and misogyny for that matter, even means anymore? The terms incrementally lose more meaning whenever these people fling them around so recklessly.

Where is the discrimination and hate against women in this game?

The people who ridicule anyone pointing out the obvious trend of female characters being purposefully made ugly, are the same people who suddenly break down when some mainstream title dares to feature attractive character designs.

These people are exhausting, everything they don't agree with is a deep societal systemic issue you have to rage on the internet about. It's just a game everyone will get over in a month, it's not that deep, just don't buy it lol

I've listened to latest DF weekly podcast.
Maybe I am going too much into it but they compliment a lot of things about stellar blade.
The title screen, hair tech, graphics, enemies... They are positive about everything.
But not a single nod or mention about character design, outfit, sexiness, anything... and it almost feels like they are doing whatever they can to manage their way around the booty lol

I live in Japan, but we are in many areas similar to South Korea and one of the good things here is that people can still openly be straight and say that without being called a pervert.

If yo go here in Japan to the big companies, most of the time the women at the reception are really good looking. I worked for a company where a guy from Sony openly said, the only reason they are doing business with us is because their contact window at our company was super cute.

I mean come on, of course most men wants to see sexy women. People can push so much for equality like they want, but these facts will never change. Why is it much easier for a good looking woman to become a famous actress or singer? The less sexy a woman looks the harder it is to become successful in these professions. Sure we have some famous singers who don’t look that good, but these are really extremely talented people.

The weird jiggles are not good looking, and usually never look that great, but other than that, I like nice looking things. She looks nice. The guys're handsome as well. If I want to make a game featuring a nice looking character, I will do it. And I'd say I'm borderline "religious nut" in some ways, but ResetEra/their ilk are ruining this hobby and the world with their stupidity and awful ideals. The global majority like good looking men, women, cars.... imagine next GT just being shitty bangers because Era-nuts whine about luxury sports cars being unobtainable ideals. I want to drive a sick-ass car, the same way I wanna play as a martial arts wizard babe/bad-ass.

More devs need to tell Era and journalists to STFU. Don't play the game, there are many other, arguably better channels to market your game than through some activist journalists.

That said, work place should be safe for all, if the accusations of this dev are legit?

I'll even go so far, I'm okay if more Asian devs just pass on releasing games in the west because of our current stupid way of things. I'll import myself.

My fantasy is that my girlfriend was actually a young high school girl.
I get it. Shes hot. And I like the honesty.

But to me its fucking stupid.

I cant take your game seriously when some 5'2 hot as fuck girl in heels and a mini skirt is beating up giant alien monsters. Takes me right out of it. And makes the game seem dumb.

Its why I cant get into the whole anime action style games. Way too much of that corny shit.

I don't think a 6'2 man would fare much better against monster aliens.

They don't wanna make bag of tallia envy because the female protagonist can get more dicks than him.

I'm really like some these designs.

It give original Ghost in the Shell movie vibe...

It actually give Appleseed vibes. A manga from the same author.
In fact he looks like one of the Bioroid Elders from that franchise.

Note that there are several attempts at making anime from Appleseed, and each new attempt got worse and worse. So just read the manga and avoid the anime.

When this game releases, I'm going to buy a copy just to show my support to the devs even though I don't own a PS5 (been trying to get one for a while though).
