Stellaris |OT| Imperium Universalis

Has anybody actually finished one of those precursors event chains? I keep missing one or two relics.

Yes, once. I found a new system where the old homeworld of this race was literally broken in pieces from apparently a devastating war against iirc one of the fallen empires still present.

Only once. Got a nice tech that revealed a resource and allowed me to give my ships super health regen. It's a shame they're so hard to actually finish because of closed border shit and having a much lesser chance of finding anomalies on planets that have already been scanned. There should be an option to go to war to get precursor relics from another civ option, too. Additionally there should be an option to trade for them.

PSA: If you vassalize a nation through war, you also become the overlord of all their vassals. I just got 5 vassals in one war that way.

Yeah, I hope that with the 'everybody always has open border' update these kinds of missions become easier.

I have that asteroid scanning mission, that I've never finished in my current SP game, I'm at 4/5 resource rich asteroids scanned. I own the system with the fifth one, but I got it by integrating a vassal that had a mining station there, so I can't scan it and can't finish the mission. That sort of thing annoys the crap out of me.

Vassals ever break away? If not, kind of silly how they can snowball. Wielding about 250k in naval power right now, not including my own fleet.

I really need to figure out how to mod in random events. The anomalies are nice but quite limited at mid-game. Need more and I got a billion ideas for it.

There's a developer dairy that covers exactly that:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...-diary-31-modding-scripting-anomalies.923348/

I'm probably not going to try modding myself, as there are other things I'd rather do, but I am hoping that somebody will be collating the best modded events so that we can just download one big pack and have a much more expansive set of events.

I read something on reddit that the midgame issues are because they basically cut a huge section of colony events, which is the point in the game where a civ starts to actively colonize their territory before late game wars and expansion.

So... while they are doing other stuff, can't see why a bunch of people can't come together and work on a giant collaborated mod that creates a bunch of mid-game events.

and when I say a bunch of modders I mean someone like me who has a few weeks to kill before they start their coop

So I did like 900% of killing the scourge, but I fucked up and isolated the last infested world inside an empire (the same one that was the source of the invasion).

Now I'm getting Scourge harassment with 30K fleets because they don't want to deal with killing off the infested world and doing a proper sweep job around their systems.

They are a threat to the galaxy with their incompetence.

AI is evolving and learned corvettes are broken.

I'm thinking it might be insane that's doing it. Absolutely every single one of the fleets I'm fighting in a 5v5 war are using corvette screens with a couple destroyers and maybe one or two battleships/cruisers. And this is late game, too. The unbidden are eatting a 4 empire federation to my north and synths are starting to gather. Suffice to say, my balanced fleet has been getting its ass handed to it.

I learned after a few go arounds that an empire with heavy early research potential is just insane later on. I was able to build a 4k strength fleet with Battleships while my neighbors were just running Destroyers lol. Was able to steamroll everyone in my general region and purge their lands to be replaced by my robot slave workers. Even have armies with morale Destroying psychic powers. Feeling unstoppable at this point and I think I'm about 30 years in

I'm having a few issues.

Every demand I add to the negotiation always adds -1000 to the deal. Ask for non-aggression pact from ardent pacifists? -1000. Even offering all my tech & star charts to a primitive, friendly race only gets me +50. Subsequently everyone's borders are closed.

My big break was finally meeting the threshold to join one of the big federations but the game doesn't explain the benefits or controls. An assholish race decided to try and enslave one of the fed's vassals so we all went to war. I was hunting down their fleet when suddenly war over, they lost 3 worlds but are essentially still as big a problem as when we went to war and I didn't get a say in the terms of surrender at all. Likewise I don't seem to get a say in who joins our federation. Other races get approved but I can't invite anyone. I understand reduced influence in exchange for open space but the rules aren't explained and the decisions are instantaneous. Really takes you out of the game.

-1000 generally doesn't actually mean -1000, it means "no way in hell will we ever agree to give this to you at any price." You're asking for something they just can't/won't give you, for some reason. Like, non-aggression pacts require adjacent borders, IIRC.

Started an Ironman game as a human based species (CHOAM after Frank Herberts Dune series). Set to start in the Sol system. The game starts, and there's another Sol system next to me. Initially, I figured it was a bug but thought 'whatever, let's send a research ship'. Research ship find a duplicate Sol system, but the earth is only just entering the space age (they had a dinky ISS in orbit). Needless to say, I immediate set up an observation station and then proceeded to futz with them and their bovine friends for the extra research gain. As time went on it became clear that they were going to figure out interstellar space travel and who was abducting them, so I opted to send undercover operatives to take over the planet (though at one point all-out thermonuclear war was on the cards due to a misstep) however managed to pull it out of the fire, and the humans were 'overjoyed' when CHOAM took over. hehe.

Well, there goes my play through. I get a warning about an incoming storm, so I wait to see where it’s coming from. Turns out it’s going to happen right around my capital, so I start to send both of my 25k fleets up there, who are both all the way at the other side of my empire. It takes them forever to get there, so the Prethoryn start to conquer my planets. I defeat a bunch of 10k and 20k fleets when I get there, so I thought it would be easy. Then out of nowhere this 80k fleets comes and just destroys me. Also had five vassals and they didn’t do shit! I could rebuild and try to take it all back, but I’m just going to start another game.

So, after getting wrecked by corvette fleets and then having the unbidden sweep in last night, I decided to give one of the balance mods a try. I tried this one:

So, it fixed a lot. It made missiles harder to absolutely lock-out with the cooldown increases to point defense, it made evasion less ridiculous. It made corvettes goddamned killable. I'm still on early game with the playthrough I'm using it with, but I feel like the results are positive so far. It makes the early game space monsters a little harder, though.

I should probably get one of the mods that fix strike craft while I'm at it.

Speaking of endgame events, does anyone know the MTTH for whatever spawns the Queen? The swarm have been hanging around for around 3 decades and other than throwing themselves at my fleet there's been no followup since the second wave event.

Is there any chance to see how high the current warscore is?

Think I fucked up my game. Took to long to vassalize an enemy or take his territory early on - he had only 4 planets. Chose low warscore and just beat all stations of 2 enemies instead just getting planets and vassalizing them.
So I waited 10 years, took another planet. And again. And again ...

While I'm still the biggest power - he got allies and a federation in the mean time. With the 4th war declaration he had already 7 allies and some of them were in a fed. Still managed to beat all their fleets, but now the just keep on coming with small 4k fleets and they just outproduce me and take small planets, which I have to get back and so on ...
Even If I could win the current war or get a peace treaty - this 7 nations alliance just hates me.

Still my first game and only 86 years in - so I'm gonna reload I think.

The Queens are the one that spawn the fleets over time, so you need to do a complete sweep of probably infested space to completely get rid of them

Thought there was supposed to be an event where you could capture one? I've killed some in fleets, was I supposed to leave them alive? They seem to keep respawning.

Missing nothing special. Gave me a decent amount of extra minerals. I think about 1000. Great at the beginning when I got it. Don't know if it scales though.

I began to do a lot of colonisation because I had a lot of space to grow but I find the AI sometimes really stupid managing planets. I did a sector to produce energy and after a while they were still a +0 energy. They were energy plants on a planet without pops on it, they were on farms while the planet already was on +5 food !

Did you have the sector settings set to not respect tile resources and to allow redevelopment? If not, then using those settings might yield better results.

Yeah I tried to change it but the problem is the AI relocate the pop every 10s. So for a short time the food situation will be 1 and the pop will be on other ressources but few seconds later the food situation is +16 (regarding energy it's +11 to +2...) It's pretty weird and very annoying for the energy balance to keep changing like that.

Um... You should get that looked at.

Although this reminds me that they need a better solution than scrolling for the Outliner. It's so jarring to do so.

Outliner needs a rework, stuff doesn't need to be as big as it is and I need to have space stations on there.

My Federation dragged me into a pointless border war so I go off to help. I lock down 3 planets and suddenly they declare victory, and it automatically moves my fleet to nearest friendly space, completely cutting me off from my territory. I had to declare war again just so I could get my fucking ships back.

Allies can be really annoying. My last two games have been vassal runs because of how annoying fighting their conflicts for them had gotten. I was the core of the alliance so when they went to war with other places, those places just invaded me and tried to destroy my fleets instead of actually fighting along the border. They were all wormhole nations so my fleet could not really match their movements easily even with jump drive and they would just do hit and run attacks while I was chasing their main fleets. Had to have small ship fleet chasing constructors and closing wormholes the whole time too. It got better as I got used to it, but they managed to trash a lot of my infrastructure before I got to go get my allies the territory they wanted and then my allies'd do it again with some other major power; get their fleet destroyed in a battle or so and then leave it all up to me again. This soured me on putting up with their crazy diplomacy.

As to peace, my god it is both buggy and comes at inconvenient times. I hate losing armies for good on a newly vassalized planet with them still being on my outliner and budget or having fleets go missing for a time when you'd like to apply them elsewhere, etc.

I do like that you can add offensive war goals to a defensive war at the outset. I'm playing an ironman atm and that was useful in taking advantage of my neighbors' aggressiveness, especially when I had just had my fleet trashed by the fallen empire trying to humiliate me. Just hunker down at your fortresses, rebuild your fleet and let them run amok on the periphery having inconsequential victories you can undo when your fleet is strong enough to repel them and then take some planets while they're fleet-less. That was a large part of my early game; made me really appreciate fortresses with modest fleet support.

Ethics were rebalanced to make Xenophile/Xenophobe stronger picks, among other changes.

I wish the were a little more specific as to how this was happening. I can't imagine tweaking a single figure is going to make xenophobe competitive, it is gonna need a bit of a rework.

Very nice improvements! I'm especially looking forward to fixes regarding events.

So, scourge invaded galaxy. After a long and bloody war, I have eradicated every single scourge planet from the galaxy. However, the situation log quest still exists and I haven't been able to get rid of it. Specifically, it has the queen subtask still open with queen "track on map" -marker at center of the galaxy.

Is it bugged or am I missing somehing?

War score costs now scale to the size of your target, so you can take more planets from large empires but can't vassalize them in a single war.
It is no longer necessary to control planets to demand them in war, but controlling planets that are set as wargoals are now worth more warscore.

These are pretty good changes.

Wow, they're going to fix the evasion corvette problem and the strike craft problem the moment I got mods to fix them. Huh. Hope removing the balance mods won't break anything.
