I hope its not a one year fluke run. I hope Curry's superb play goes on forever.

It needs to otherwise the narrative going forward will be for him what it was for the warriors when they won the championship last year and then the league will go back to propping up LBJ as their poster boy

I feel like jack the nipper may have written this email to deadspin:

They haven't played Miami since last month? I'm so confused jack.

must have made a mistake, I usually search for the highlights on youtube randomly and must have gotten mixed up.

Not sure what happened honestly, i thought I was looking at a march 10th or so date

I don't really have espn or any other sports shows, channels (atleast in english) here

Suns game did surprise me, I was like wtf how can it be this close. I don't mind rooting for the underdog and I dont have a current favorite team but would have been nice to see the suns pull it off. Few weeks ago I thought they had no chance and I sort of laughed at them. Good for GW not losing that one as it isn't a team you should lose to. Not really sure what happened in that game honestly.

I give no fucks about basketball and have never watched a full game

But sweet lord this guy is a beast. The look of total defeat on the opposing team when he lands those shots from the halfway mark is amazing

Yo Steph is cocky on the court though. He gets away with it because he doesn't sneer and frown or cuss at people, he just laughs at you and dances in your face so it looks more like innocent fun.

Doesnt seem like he trash talks though, like he just goes out n does it n has fun.

Posts like this are both amazing and not-so-amazing.

Amazing because the power of Curry is transcending the sport and getting people to put their eyes on basketball.

Not-So-Amazing because the NBA is seriously awesome. Best playoffs of any sport, best personalities, and very intense moments. The season can be a slog-fest because it's 82 games, and bad-team vs bad-team matchups can definitely be boring, but high level play is amazing.

And then you've got superstars of the league doing insanely crazy things; Curry is like nothing we've seen before, but high levels of "holy shit this is sweet" does happen all the time, MVP year Durant, Finals D-Wade (...the first Finals), Prime 'jump out of the gym' LeBron, Prime Kobe (how many 50+ point games in a row again?...).

Although I don't personally think any are as spectacular as what we're seeing from Curry over the course of the season. Like I said in the OP, I only got to see Jordan on NBA Classic when I was younger.

The mark of playing back to backs. Usually your guys don't hit shots, or laze it up on defense. One or the other, often both, tends to happen. Add that they have zero motivation to get up and play teams like the Suns, while the Suns have nothing to lose. In the end all it takes is a strong run to put those teams out, like you saw in that game.

I dont know for sure. It could be either way I guess. I don't think they want a lose game with a chance to lose and effect the record.. but I'm not on the team so can't really say what they were doing or thinking.

i don't really have a favorite team anymore so I don't have a lot to care about who wins right now. I am curious to see if teams beat gsw so I do check out most of their games when I remember to check in.

I don't really have much enjoyment watching spurs, cavs, or any other team honestly and I don't know why actually... use to enjoy watching the games in the 90's quite a bit and late 80's. I don't know if age has something to do with it, jordan effect or what honestly.

I don't feel like I enjoy seeing curry play, maybe it's his bit of attitude cockyness or expressions (some seem to like them) which is totally fine.

Didnt check the schedule today but I am pretty sure a spurs game is coming soon

Steph has won MVP last year, this ain't a fluke run.

And they arent going back to LeBron.
LeBron is done as the top dog in this league.
His stats are still great but his shooting is bad this year and his efficiency is going down. His game won't translate well in to his mid 30s and he has lots of milage in his body.

it would seem to be more cocky, I think its just personality. Saw somewhere that he tried to give that to kobe in his rookie year as well.

Yeah, I think there was an interview where mentioned that. He asked Kobe "Nervous about these free throws?" to which Kobe obviously scoffed and brushed him aside. Anyhow I don't think that really qualifies as trash talk or cockiness.

what is it? friend talk? ha.. I dunno... just the way his face looks is a bit cocky. But I don't see why a few are acting like he isn't cocky. people are cocky all the time, jordan, shaq, barkley, bird...

I think Kobe is one of the more cocky actually and not as friendly as most to be honest. If you aren't good or his fried he seems to really think he is better, saw so many videos of kobe he def. seems to be one of the least friendly. he has smiled more this year than any other but I can get why him and shaq didn't get alone.

Yeah, that cockiness thing is terrible. In the past, we loved humble athletes, like Michael "shoot free throws with my eyes closed" Jordan or Larry "who's coming in second" Bird or Muhammad "I am the greatest" Ali. Maybe it's like Bill Russell said:
To me, the most important part of winning is joy. You can win without joy, but winning that’s joyless is like eating in a four-star restaurant when you’re not hungry. Joy is a current of energy in your body, like chlorophyll or sunlight, that fills you up and makes you naturally want to do your best.

Don't know why we'd want to see that though. QUIT CELEBRATING AND DO YOUR JOB BUDDY.

Examples? He just looks like he's having fun to me.
He has a habit of shimmying in front of the opposing teams bench. I dont mind it but neither do I mind fans taking issue with it. His persona on the court isnt "humble" at all and the media should quit pushing that narrative: he's a killer.
Like I said, what he does have going for him is he doesnt have a straight up nasty streak like Kobe, Wade, Chris Paul, or Westbrook, so hell never be a truly polarizing player.

That's so weird because he changed his game up and made himself so much more efficient in Miami. He started banging in the lowpost and had 2 years where he shot over 60%.

Yeah I'd say he's just as much a killer as any of the greats. You can tell that he loves hitting daggers in an opposing team's home court and just sucking the air (and soul) out of everyone in the building.

He's just less mean and more fun about it than the other goats.

Watching Curry play a good game feels more entertaining than looking at a game of NBA Jam/ NBA Street or even anime basketball.

I know people here will argue if he is g.o.a.t. material or not for the next few years/rings but at least his team is really fun to watch along their way to greatness.

You guys should be careful what you wish for. Watch formula 1 if you want to see a sport devoid of real personality. Cockiness is fine when you can back it up.

Yes he's cocky..but his celebrations are fun and harmless. For example, last time they played the Hawks, there was a bit of fan ire when Curry hit a 3 and shimmied right in front of the Hawks bench. But what people didn't realize was that the shimmy was directed at Bazemore (clarified in an interview), who's close to Steph from back when he was playing on the W's and also a guy known for his celebrations.

Against PHX, it was a little bit of A and a little bit of B. Brandin Knight hit 7 3 pointers in the 3rd quarter after having an abysmal first half shooting the ball. A lot of those 3 pointers were pull up against solid defense too (the good O beats good D type of shots). I don't think the Warriors did anything terribly egregious (turnovers were low, offensive execution was fine- they just weren't making shots) and they did dial up the defense in the 4th quarter.

I don't think it's a fluke but this year is his "breakout" year. I use quotations because clearly he's been good for years but this has to objectively be the best year of his career and he's put the entire league (and by extension, the world) on notice. Him and the warriors are consistently breaking all time NBA records damn near every night. Unfortuntely, most people don't appreciate greatness unless it's repeated. That's why im personally not getting caught up in them beating the bulls season record cuz at the end of the day it's all about the chip and the best way to silence the doubters would be to win back to back championships

He won MVP last year but a lot of people felt like harden got shafted.

Steph could break both his ankles and be sidelined for the rest of the season and he'd win MVP by a landslide this year. Runner up is probably Kawhi? And even then he's only been getting real high praise the last couple of weeks. Curry's been fuego all season long.

LBJ is definitely fading but depending on the kind of playoff/finals run they have and if they win a chip (especially if it's against GSW) they'll definitely prop him up for a while longer.

He said something like get the hell out of my face rookie because it was his first season or something along those lines lol..

If warriors make the final and play the Cavs, no way they don't demolish (not beat, demolish) the Cavs if both teams are fit. Everyone was talking shit about them and Curry was 0/11 for FMVP votes last year, so if they play Cavs I fully expect him to average 40+ points over 42 minutes per game. Quote me on this for those that don't believe it, quote me in a few months.

There's a championship winner every year, there's only one team with 72 wins in a season.

If the Warriors break the record, they'll need to also win the chip in order to immortalize the season. But 73+ wins is a team achievement that only the 15-16 Warriors can claim.

I could definitely see Curry v3.0 (v1 being the good player he was while battling injuries, v2 being his "wow" mvp season last year, this year is entirely different) averaging like 35ppg if the finals are against the cavs. Can't believe people had the nerve to hype up delly cause curry had a few bad games.

But that's the thing, no one will really give a record breaking season any real significance after the fact if

A) they don't win a championship considering the bulls won the chip on their historic season run and/or

B) if LBJ and the cavs win the chip, especially if it's against them. The equal parts camaraderie and hate over the cavs/LBJ bringing "the land" a title in a finals rematch would be absolutely deafening even to a new historic season run.

So all things considered, i'd take the dubs winning another championship even if they don't break the season record.

would love to see a cavs/warriors rematch in the finals. Last year was a fun series and that was with LeBron dragging the Cavs with him. Better Warriors team against a full strength Cavs would be awesome to watch.

Curry's been playing the whole year like his team was the one that lost the Finals. He definitely took the players voting Harden the MVP personally and he damn sure didnt appreciate loudmouths like Doc Rivers saying the Warriors lucked out with injuries to other teams.

Harden's been exposed this year, IMO, that guy is locker room cancer.

In today's NBA that matchup would devolve into 3-pt shootout between Curry, Klay, Irving, and Smith. No thanks. Give me some good old fashioned in-the-paint basketball.

Where do you get this idea? That wouldn't happen at all. The Cavs primarily like to slow the ball down against the warriors.

And Kyrie/JR aren't even in the same stratosphere when it comes to 3 pt shooting throughout an entire game. Nobody (except maybe JR) would be okay with that gameplan.

Today's NBA, so different from the good old days of seasons like 2014-2015.

(I mean... did you watch last year's Finals?)

I don't think Curry is cocky in the sense that he feels entitled. He seems cocky because he is having fun in a playful way ( in a league that is oh so serious ). I love it personally.

There is no worry if the Warriors play the Cavs again. If there's no injuries, they're going to destroy them. Curry ain't gonna be too happy getting 0/11 FMVP votes vs them last year, I'm sure it's still in his mind.

Harden has always been cancer, but he's playing exceptionally well this year as well. It's just that it's not translating in team wins, and the team's overall defense has been garbage this year.

There's been more videos of hardens garbage defense this year. After being called out so much last year he hasn't learned a thing
