Steven Universe: Attack the Light |OT| Mobile's Hidden Gem

I bought this game immediately. It's fun and cute and the gauntlet stages are actually super hard.

Steven Universe really is wonderful. When the first few episodes came out I watched them, said "these are cute but not as good as the pilot," and then dropped it till a few weeks ago. I ended up binge watching the entire series in a day and wow. Such amazing storytelling and character development. I wish shows like this existed back when I was the target demographic.

Ive 100% cleared every other stage and im still missing a red gemstone to access the world 5 secret levels. Is there just one hidden in 5-4 that im missing?

Whew. Dat ending. Great game.

The last boss wasn't too bad
until it became clear there was kind of a reason for that
; I was fully leveled up by stage 5-2 because I'd scoured every other world for a certain shiny crimson rock that's really hard to come by--and I still need like two more, apparently. So now all I need to beat it 100% is do the last two gauntlet stages and find those gemstones.

Then I'll do it all again. Maybe that'll be a no-badge run.

This is a great, simple game. If this was expanded and letting you move around the town and go to different places in the world this would make a great RPG on the 3DS. It be the Paper Mario game the 3DS deserves.

A Steven Universe RPG? Without microtransaction junk?? For Android???

That's amazing, too bad my Samsung phone's an old piece of junk and there's no way a-...
Wait, Google Play Store says it's actually compatible with my phone for once?!

BUYING THIS RIGHT NOW

Little tip on this:
there are three red gemstones in statue shops, and the contents of statue shops don't count towards 100%ing a stage. (Same goes for a few badges). The three stages with shops that have red gems are 2-4, 4-3, and 5-3

Whew. Dat ending. Great game.

Thanks man!!

So how do crits work in this game? Is it a multiplier, or bonus damage on top of what you normally do? I'm try to decide whether to pump Luck into Garnet or Pearl.

Really wanted to, but I don't think I'll be able to 100% the game now. I'm on the second stage of the desert and I went to open the left door with an orange key, and the key just disappeared without opening the door, and I don't see any way to restart a level to re-grab the orange key, and I don't wanna have to restart the whole game. :/

Turns out i missed an entire store in 4-3.
Got everything squared away now, really excellent game! Kind of wish there was a ng+ so i could play around more with the lategame badges.

Hey Tusk, so sorry to hear this. We've seen a few people run into this and are working over the weekend to get it resolved. The good news is we are working on a solution that will retroactively fix the save state for people who ran into it. Hoping it'll be available for everyone in the next few days.

Apologies once again -- somehow this issue never popped up once in all our thorough testing, Seems to be extremely rare :(

It's okay, these things happen. Glad it'll be getting fixed. Atleast the bug didn't happen while I was opening a door that's actually important to progress. :b

The games really awesome, by the way. Hope to see more like it in the future.

Huh, I've got 100% on every world except the desert. I know I need one last red gemstone, but I also haven't completed 2-2.
I got all but one orange gemstone to open the door just before the portal... where could the last one be?

Garnet's clone's gems...

That one was really tricky
Have you already checked the hidden room beyond the exit portal?
Gaaaahhhhh.
I swear I've tried going that way before... but 99% of the time I would backtrack. >_> Sure enough, it had 1 of the 2 last badges and that elusive red gemstone in the treasure chests.
Thanks!

edit: I did it

Oof! Suffered my first wipe in world 2 against
plant-thingy and the holo-gems
. Failing the defensive timing prompts means eating a ton of damage! You'd think I'd be better at the timing of those attacks, but apparently not when I'm on the receiving end.

This might be a known glitch by the devs and being worked on as we speak but I figured I should post it here anyway to inform people so they don't run into any problems:

Ok this is kinda stupid but I thought I would share this with people but I thought more people would see it if I went through you: in attack the light, if you go to replay the Orange boss level, do NOT have the gems fuse until it prompts you to. I did, and then once I got to the part where you had to fuse, it just kept telling me "the gems can only fuse once per battle!" and I ended up having to quit the level because it wouldn't let me do anything else.

Got through the challenge gauntlet in world 2. It does a good job of giving me a challenge and requiring me to utilize the battle system to its fullest. I had to fall back on using star fruit to power through a few enemies, but I feel that I could avoided using so many if I play better. It's a part that makes me really glad this game is $3 up front and not F2P, as I could easily see a lesser developer using the star fruit as the F2P hook and ramping up the enemies to require them to win. If wiping ever resulted in a prompt to buy more star fruit for real money, this game would of been uninstalled. Instead, star fruit are a legit resource to use in battle.

Also, does anyone know if buffs and debuffs stack? Or am I wasting star points by making Garnet use her armor breaker twice in a row?

I would play this if I was interested in this cartoon. But it's really shitty. Not funny, don't have a good story. Its just pretty (as in have a pretty good choice of colors and character design).

It's pretty ok, but a bit repetitive. And I have a few issues

- those beetles that nab your party with seemingly no way to counter
- pearl's holo thing that is supposed to freeze enemies is bollocks - even getting a 3 I've had enemies attack me immediately afterwards
- it crashes all the damn time. Took me about three goes to get through world 2's gauntlet level. IPad Air 2, and I'd restarted just in case

- pearl's holo thing that is supposed to freeze enemies is bollocks - even getting a 3 I've had enemies attack me immediately afterwards
Holo-Pearl ends early if you attack the enemy it freezes. If there's only one enemy left it's pretty ridiculous. You can keep it frozen infinitely while Steven heals everyone to full and gives them shields while also building up to 9 stars.

Ok that's understandable but a bit limiting. So if you get one of those green beetles preparing to snatch someone, is there anything you can do? I was hoping to freeze and then kill it, but they're too big to kill in one turn.

You really need to watch all of Season 1.
There is a story but the focus is mostly on Steven's daily escapades and throughout hints are dropped about characters nad past events.

Nah. I won't watched some episodes in a marathon thinking it was good. I cringed all the way. I won't try to continue watching it, neither bothering people with my rants. I simply accept that it's not a good show for me.

You mean knock them out of battle rather than snatch, right? A shield blocks that.

Its one of the best cartoons on television right now in my opinion. How far did you get? I'm assuming not past the first half of the season. A lot of fans watch 10 or so episodes and stop because they don't like it, until being later convinced to watch the rest and then end up loving it. The first 15 or so episodes are pretty rough and it takes until midway through the first season to really hit its stride. The quality of the show jumps tremendously after 'Mirror Gem' and 'Ocean Gem' and continues to get better and better. Seriously. By the end the character interactions become complex and engaging, the story rapidly expands, and Steven becomes way less annoying. (and his voice actor's voice gets deeper too). I highly recommend watching all of season 1. If you somehow still don't enjoy it, I'll be very surprised.

Awesome, I'm glad there's an OT for this! It's a fantastic game, easily worth the three bucks. It has all the heart of the show combined with a distinctly-solid battle system. While having a more traversable world would have been nice, I think what they have now works best for the mobile platform.

I was hooked the moment Steven healed Pearl by assuring her that she was strong in the real way.

Enjoying the game so far. Have 100% complete so far. I'm somewhere in world 5. Maybe ready to do 5-3 I think. The enemies seem a little stronger here (by a larger margin than I would have thought). So far I have only been knocked out once when I first encountered too many super armor enemies in the challenge stage of world 1. Really fun game so far but I hate that some enemies are pretty much super lethal if you don't get the blocks perfectly. The attacking reminds me of Legend of Dragoon though :)

Only person I have left to finish leveling up is Amethyst and I think she might be 2 levels away from max.

For some reason, I can't view my achievements/trophies/whatever-Google-calls-them. Its not on the list of games that I have when I look at the "Play Games" app.

I haven't cleared world 5 yet but have you made sure to get the gems that were in stores? I think there are at least two red gemstones that you have to purchase for 100 currency.

Get everyone in a bubble shield the turn after they wind up the attack.

Just finished the game with 100% stage completion and badge collection.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, and I very much hope there's more content or a sequel in the future, even if I have to toss in a bit more money. It's well worth it.
I wish there was a way to view the list of achievements, though.

Fair enough, but I don't find any of the humor cringy; at the end of the day it remains a kid's show, and Steven is just a hyperactive energetic kid. ...and why wouldn't he be? He lives with a super hero team, and owns a Gamecube.

So what's up with Steven's voice? Everyone else sounds exactly like they do on the show, except for Steven who is almost definitely a different VA.

The game credits say its the same VA as the show. Maybe his voice changed from when he recorded for this or he altered his voice for it

Some weeks ago I dreamed of a game based on this show, so when I saw the OT I just RAN towards the AppStore and buy it.

So far, it's been an enjoyable ride. I really like how all the items are references to episodes and the Gems are portrayed quite appropiately. Even the distinct art style still suits the SU world.

It may have a lower budget, but still far better than any Adventure Time game.

Yeah I think my game maybe glitched or something I have 100% on every thing but world 3. And I've been through every stage twice and I can't find that last red gem to unlock the last stage in the desert world.

Edit: never mind just found a hidden room on 2-2

The character designs are actually the same ones that the show uses for showing the characters from a distance.

Hm, I'm missing a red gemstone to get to the extra stage on world 5 :/

Is there any list of them or at least where shops are? I don't want to scour each stage to find a shop where I hopefully will find another gem in the shop or find where what screen I missed a hidden item

Has anyone gotten Steven to level 21? I'm trying to grind it out, but even beating the second to last boss continuously is taking forever. Hope its worth it, lol.

I'm pretty sure that little amount of progress on his bar is a mistake. I think his limit is actually level 20
