Streaming Futuremark looks Bleak as Cyberpunk fails to revitalize Stadia.

Stadia is not indicative of the success of streaming. Its failure has been the pricing model. If I could get the Stadia library for a tenner a month, I'd consider it a good option.

What's superior about it?

No need to buy dedicated hardware. No need to download anything, no need to install anything, ideally also no need to buy anything (Microsoft is slowly getting there). Instant access to your games from any device you own.

It's the same reasons why Netflix and Spotify are so popular. Game streaming is just a bit trickier to do obviously.

Even streaming film and tv isn't "there" to the point where enthusiasts still get physical, just imagine how much time it'll take to get there for the gaming landscape where we argue about 2-5 FPS drops between platforms. Stadia is also such a flop it's hard to see where your optimism comes from, I can see streaming being "big" for some people who normally aren't into gaming but like many other things it won't be the future, just like VR has so far proven over and over to not be the future despite everyone claiming it will be.

Thing with stadia i'm not paying full price to stream games, it should be a subscription service only.
This is exactly how I feel. Honestly I've tried some Stadia stuff and it's not bad but I'm not comfortable paying $80 for a game on Stadia with Googles given history with products.

Hard no on OP's theory. I've seen a steady flow of tech/gaming articles praising Stadia for offering the best (or at least the most stable) way to play Cyberpunk over the past few weeks.

Video streaming is a 60 billion dollar industry already and is projected to be a 100 billion dollar industry by 2025. If that's not "there", what is?

I'm talking about normal people here, not enthusiasts. Normal people don't argue about FPS drops.

The comparison to VR doesn't make much sense tbh. It's an entirely different thing.

Streaming doesn't work for gaming, every time there is a holiday or a big launch or a storm or some epidemic, the service will crash or gp down.

Lag and distance from the servers makes the experience far worse, the further you live from them. Resulting in second and third class citizens in gaming that cannot improve their experience without hardware.

It also gives complete ownership of games to the companies.... even the completely narrative based games that have no reason to not have an ownership option.

When these service inevitably disappear, the games are not accessible at all and you will realize you never made an investment in the games... you just paid for access.

Paying for 'access' makes you a complete sucker.

About this, I don't believe the push for streaming to casuals and mobile players makes much sense. My brother plays Clash Of Clans a lot but he doesn't feel like playing games on PC or Console. I feel if someone has gaming as a hobby, he'd get an entry level gadget at the very least to play games. I have my doubts about streaming even though I feel it will grow quite a bit in the coming years.
