Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

My opinion on timed/console exclusives hasn't changed. I only really think they are acceptable if the game wasn't going to be made unless the party benefiting from exclusivity put up the cash to make it happen.

Essentially this. Which is why I'm keeping my powder dry until we hear more. ;)

nah to this whole post

People who are street fighter/FG fans are hyped for the game. We can all easily tell its obviously a new game. Its like, no question about it.

Looks like Ultra on PC? lol no way man.

Looks more like a cross between the intro to SF4 and the art style of Third Strike which makes me very happy. Please for the love of god bring Oro and Alex back.

Street Fighter V? Sony got the best street fighter confirmed

Not a fan of SF and I don't have an XB1, but that's some evil shit right there hah.

Read a bit more - It's timed? If so that's cool, it's whatever then.

Or are people just genuinely happy that Street Fighter V is being made after Ono and other Capcom staff said that there was no budget for it?

That might be your reason, but read through some comments They're just not happy Street Fighter V is announced. There a people in this thread that are happy because it's console exclusive on PS4...

Even though I currently have both announced platforms this sucks for Xbox only owners.

I do look forward to those who defended Tomb Raider defending this too as even though this time it doesn't favour them they clearly back the approach in principle.

Just realized and confirmed SF exclusivity is nothing new.

Street Fighter was exclusive to the Turbografx CD.
Street Fighter II was exclusive to the Super Nintendo.
Street Fighter II CE was exclusive to the Turbografx.
Street Fighter II Special CE was exclusive to the Sega Genesis.
Street Fighter II Turbo was exclusive to the Super Nintendo.

Super Street Fighter II was the first cross platform, and came out for both the Super Nintendo and Genesis.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo was exclusive to the 3DO.
Street Fighter Alpha was the second to be cross platform, and came out for both the Playstation and Saturn.
Street Fighter Alpha 2 was the third to be cross platform, and came out for both the Playstation and Saturn.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 was the fourth to be cross platform, and came out for both the Playstation and Saturn (Japan) and Dreamcast (US and Japan).
Street Fighter III (all versions) was exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast.
Super Street Fighter II X was exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast.
Street Fighter IV (all versions) was the fifth to be cross platform, and came out for both the 360 and PS3.

Interesting.
Those two were essentially exclusive in name only, as each cartridge had BOTH games on it. It's just that Champion Edition was emphasized on Genesis, while Turbo Hyper Fighting was emphasized on SNES (I think they might have some exclusive modes though). I'm surprised this isn't more widely recognized.

So guys, kinda hard to read it between the piles of exclusivity posts but, is there an arcade version of the game? Straight to consoles? That would be neat.

Saw the trailer and screens. It just looks like a super clean version of SFIV.

Would you consider 4K with 8xMSAA to be super clean? I ask because that's what I was playing at on my old PC. (Will probably step things up now that I can run that at 200fps without any overclocking.)
Super clean SF looks obviously inferior to this.

Oh, and my Xbox 360 TE S works with it.

Being a PS4 exclusive is pretty weird and I know it's going to upset Xbox owners. I do like the art style better than Street Fighter IV's which I thought was a little ugly.

The idea of GAF being "unfairly" biased towards PS4 and having some underlying pro-Sony agenda that is somehow actively harming the XB1's ability to compete is hilarious to me. This an internet forum full of random video game nerds, not the fucking Supreme Court.

Oh I think there's a little bias. Not saying it's unfair, but it exists. Hell, it could simply be because more people own a PS4. I don't know the reasons. I don't see a problem with more people preferring Sony but things get rrreeeally weird when certain practices are permissible on one platform and not the other. People damn near lost their minds over the Tomb Raider announcement. I'm not saying there isn't reason to feel good (and maybe even gloat a little) over SFV's exclusivity, but then don't hate when it happens elsewhere.

I wonder if Sony/Capcom will handle this announcement better than Microsoft/SquareEnix.
I suspect sony funded it. Time ago they said to haven't enough money to put SF V on consoles.

Do you know something we don't? Or do you think Ono was lying?

Well you are free to believe whatever you want, but to me that sounds like Nintendo saying they have no budget for a new Zelda or Konami saying they have no budget for a new Metal Gear. If Capcom really has no budget for a new Street Fighter they are either going bankrupt or there's something wrong with their priorities.

I think this sucks for the fgc overall, but fuck if I'm not hype that sf5 is coming.

Love the art style. Looks exactly like ikeno's art to me.

How is it on point...Street fighter is in another league popularity and sales wise as KI.
It's on point for mocking the vacuous statements MS made regarding their strategy of securing timed exclusives when they unexpectedly found themselves under a modicum of pressure from media.

The relative popularity of the franchises doesn't come into it it's mocking the statements.

Tomb raider thread was the polar opposite to this.

Meh. Might just be timing, many other factors. Prob like you said more ppl just own a ps4.

No sign of an arcade version, but since this is a Playstation promo it could very well exist and was just not mentioned.

Didn't Ono say that Capcom couldn't afford to make SF5? So in this case that's good that Sony helped funding, I don't see how this is similar to Tomb Raider situation.

It exists on pc. You're free to read between the hats. It's nearly the same as tomb raider. Previous game multi platform, new game only playable of 1 of 2 comparable consoles

Why people persist to compare TR to this case? Isn't it comparable. Just stop it.

he is probably never played them on console and just went onto wikipedia and assumbed them because of name.

Saturn and PS1 being on the same generation as 3DO had Super Street Fighter II Turbo in their superior Street Fighter Collection than the crappy one on 3DO

On SF2 on SNES was exclusive within its generation.

Only SF3 Double Impact (NG + 2I) was the only SF version game to ever come out on one console only.

Other 2D SF games eventually were available in a collection, compilation in shape way or form either within same generation or in later generations

That is quite the exclusive. Welp my thoughts go out to anyone who threw down on xbone sticks.

I was thinking about a stick for current gen consoles, trying to decide if i want an X1 or a PS4 one, and i finally threw money on a V4 for PS4 two days ago.
Boy, am i feeling vindicated.
