Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

Sf4 was a multi game released on almost everything. All of those points are incorrect

I have one point and you're gonna tell me a story driven 3rd person action game's sequel isn't more important than a fighting game's sequel? Can SFV even be considered a sequel? Does anyone really follow those stories?

MEGA-fucking-TON son!

Of course that is assuming this is a true console exclusive for at least a year. During that time span, the community will already be set on PS4 and releasing it on the bone will only catch stragglers and casuals.

Hopefully this shows that Japanese companies will get behind the Sony console again and provide us with a wealth of content. That they will focus on what they do best instead of forcing what they believe the "West" wants in a game. Too many stupid games last generation from Capcom and other Japanese publishers. They should feel more at ease with the development costs since, dare I say it, the King is back!!!

This may be the saltiest thread since DQ9. Everyone should already know you wait 4 or 5 re-releases before buying Street Fighter anyway. I got burned buying SF4 at launch. It won't happen again.

I never understood this type of thinking. Got burned by buying SF4? As if the other updates at a much lower price didnt offer nothing new.

I really like how Ryu looks in this game, his face looks beat to shit. Like in SF2/SF3 and even Fighting Street. SF4 had a babyface Ryu that was kinda lame.

But his SF5 gloves are less than stellar.

Not digging the outrageous amount of teddy bear fluff on the outer ridge of his knuckles. The shoto's looked best when it was just a thin padding covering the entire back of the hand, protecting the tendons/ligaments.

Like this.

If they give him the baby blue headband + ultra clean dōgi from 3rd Strike I will gladly forget about the gloves though.

Is this Ryu pre or post "nothingness"? SFxT/TvC/UMvC3 all include the Joudan Sokutou Geri, a move learned sometime after "nothingness"(a.k.a. when Gouken shows Ryu nothingness as a way to fight off/beat the satsu ino hado technique). Which make all those games post/near the SF3 timelime. This is the biggest question going forward pre-release.

And of course, whether or not they have the gusto to include parries into the game.

There's a couple reasons why this is not as bad as MS and Tomb Raider:

1. PS4 doesn't have half the install base/marketshare of the Xbone, so the majority of console owners aren't getting blown out with this deal like was the case with TR. It also makes a lot more fucking sense because of the current console marketshare. TR deal doesn't make any sense whatsoever! :/

2. Street Fighter has never had the vast majority of the fighting game hardcore on Xbox, it's always been on Playstation and associated with PS. So again, the hardcore fans of the series aren't getting bummed out like was the case with TR, which was also a traditional PS franchise. I don't think you can say the same with SF and Xbox, in all honesty.

But I know that doesn't make this deal any harder to swallow if you are a Bone owner.

there is so much wrong in this post. did you made point 2 up?

Yeah right, like you personally know me. But keep acting like you do.

You know why I've been bashing MS since E3 2010? Because of the shit that they do (& still do, as a matter of fact). And the reason why you & the rest have been "calling me out several times" is because you can't handle the truth everytime someone like myself speaks out facts about your beloved company (& I've been one of those who were against Sony back in 2005-2008 with the way that they've handled both PSP & PS3).

Jack, is that you?

Seriously though, let's not start this again...

Hard to test an F2P game in an arcade.

Can't wait for that announcement to get people worked up. Capcom and Ono did their F2P test run with Deep Down, now it's time to apply that to SF.

Slap a new coat of paint on SF4, charge $5 for stages, taunts, ultras, costumes, characters, and BP boosts and they are good to go.

I can't help but view your replies as salty.

Im sad because im no more into fighting game, but god this look amazing. Id love to have my old reflex back like when i was young.

MIGHT grab Ultra Street Fighter IV to try to get back into it. Do you guys recommend me to get ultra or the Street Fighter 4 vanilla or Super Street Fighter IV? Is the dual combo only in ultra street fighter?

I like the changes to Ryu's face. He looks less like a frog-eyed gorilla and more like a human being.

Oh wow. This poster has a very strange idea of what PS4 exclusivity means.

I really don't see why you'd make a game like this exclusive other than moneyhats/co-marketing agreements.
Parity clauses, poor sales, weak hardware, difficult to code for…

There are plenty of good reasons to avoid doing business with MS; take your pick. There's no reason to assume money changed hands here. Years of dealing with MS have made some of y'all way too cynical. I know Sony have published plenty of games over the years, but have they ever paid outright for exclusivity? Like, just handed cash to another publisher to keep their game off of other platforms?

Personally, I'm looking forward to what EA have to announce. That little exchange between Moore and Greenberg was kinda weird; Greenberg gave the impression of someone who'd been left out in the cold, while Moore seemed to be mocking Greenberg's desperation in finding people willing to support his platform. Of course, maybe Moore just heard about SF5 before we did. :p

For point 2, the SFIV series is most popular on the 360 compared to the PS3 and PC versions. Even in Japan where the 360 was a flop their players preferred the 360 version. The hardcore just go to where the best version is.

I'm fairly sure Japanese sales had PS3 leading 360 by over 2:1.

Interesting console/platform decision. I wonder how this will pay off for both parties involved (or, perhaps more cynically, how much one party has already been paid off).

The art design is a bit disappointing. It looks nice - but I was hoping for more of a drastic change from the style that they were using in 4 (and more or less co-opted into SFxT), rather than the rather minute change we're seeing here.

Putting it into context with Guilty Gear Xrd also makes it harder to appreciate the graphics, now that I think about it.

he's a hardcore fanboy, so don't be too surprised.

ouch, lol. people will justify this but still get mad over TR, but whatever.

Timed exclusives were a thing back when Sony paid for timed exclusivity for GTA in the PS2 era. This is nothing new.

I didn't mean that Microsoft "started" this, I was just saying they're helping to set a precedent for large franchises becoming timed exclusive(Tomb Raider) or fully exclusive* (Street Fighter V) this gen. Of course it happened in the past, but nearly every major third party franchise is multiplatform now rather than exclusive due to the rising development costs.

*console exclusive of course

Did you start gaming this year? The precedent was set decades ago.

I was alluding to the precedent for this gen. Did you really think I was saying there has NEVER been a timed or third party exclusive before? : p

The state of the gaming industry is far different from how it was back then. Even the biggest third party exclusives have become multiplat. (i.e. Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid)

Timed exclusivity for GTA in the PS2 era. I'm sure there are other cases.

"Console exclusive", "not coming to Xbox One". That pretty much says it all.

But XBO owners'll still get an update in a year or so, for sure.

How do we know it's "for sure"? If Sony helped fund the development, I don't see Super and Ultra versions popping up on the Bone.

Guess Microsoft has to open the wallet and fund Darkstalkers.

Did u guys not get the El Torro LOTR war gif? This shit ain't a game. Battle lines have been drawn. U are either on one side or the other. If u happen to be on both, then more power to u, but let's stop with all this righteous indignation about console exclusives. U really expected Sony to just lay down and have 3rd party exclusives poached from right under their noses? C'mon. Eye for an eye is what I say.

MS owners can either hope for "timed exclusivity" or just have to wait out for the "Ultimate" edition which would surely hit consoles eventually. It's not the end of the world if u think about it. This is why indie games are really important in the long run. U want to entice ur owners while they wait for the big budget titles to come down the pipeline.

I'd like to offer some counterpoints:

1 - The TR deal does make sense for MS and SE. MS gets a good character action game as a timed exclusive for fall 2015. SE gets extra money and a free marketing push from MS. Sony will be pushing their own character action game at that time (UC4).

2 - There are SF fans on all consoles stretching back to the arcade and SNES/Genesis days. There are plenty of XB1 gamers that will miss not having SFV.

It was a good coup for Sony. It does sting that I won't be able to play, as I only own the XB1.

360's ease of development definitely made it the choice for all character action and fighting games. Can't say they have that advantage this gen.

The point was that SF isn't associated with any one platform.

I think this is good, I think it's better if the entire community is located in one spot. I think saying "This isn't as bad because SF is pretty strongly linked with Playstation" is pretty dumb.

If there is no arcade version, im going to lean more towards this not being made without Sony.

It would be travesty regardless. A console only Street fighter? Perish the thought.

The possibility (or thought I should probably say for lack of a better way to put it) of Street Fighter 5 being F2P has now increased for me due to you mentioning that. No arcade release is very strange for this series.

I just spoke with a friend who works over at Capcom US and it's for sure a console exclusive on PS4. Not coming to Xbox One.

If a mod wants to PM me I can confirm with them whatever info they want.

If this is true...maybe we will get cross-platform online play after all?

Street fighter is probably the most iconic Capcom franchise and without any doubt the most well-know fighter game.

Going console exclusive is probably one of the biggest megaton of the latest years.

Agree. Don't know how anyone can say SF is linked with PS with a straight face.

Tell me about all the other cross platform games there are, apart from FFXIV. I'm waiting. Not even GFWL could get cross platform to work well, and they own the operating systems for both of the platforms.

Plus you gotta pay for online on PS4 (as far as I know) and it's free on windows.
