Show me where he says that they couldn't afford to make SF5?
Show me. Please.
Don't think he ever outright says Capcom can't afford it, but he certain implies that Capcom doesn't want to fund it, at least not entirely.
Show me where he says that they couldn't afford to make SF5?

The only valid comparison is Tomb Raider. The rest of your post is nonsense.
How is the rest nonsense exactly? The rest of those games are 3rd party exclusives. So what is different about them?
PS4 doesn't have half the install base/marketshare of the Xbone
Can you confirm this? What were all the sales for? Are you just joking?
But the series is thriving at this moment, SF4 Ultra is still chugging along swimmingly.
Capcom is slipping. What series would get more priority than that when it comes to sequels? Possibly RE, but that doesn't outsell SF, does it?
Probably because that's what capcom says. Haha, those fools, believing the developer, you obviously know the real truth right?
So take this with a grain of salt but I just heard from a friend that its basically the situation with Dead Rising. Ono was asked a while ago if he was working on SF5 and he said that Street Fighter though his biggest passion at Capcom isn't getting the greenlight and that it was a miracle he got to make 4.
Sony swooped in. Funded. Now we have SF5
Same with Dead Rising relatively successful IP for Capcom but not where they want to leverage their resources.
Microsoft swoops in. Funds. Dead Rising 3.

It's far easier to just accept that game exclusivity deals are a part of the industry you have to live with... But then you wouldn't be able to get mad when the games aren't on your console.Good grief, the contorting people do around here to try and make themselves feel better about these kind of deals is absurd.
That is far from the truth , the series has been selling less every update.
Resident Evil 5 seems to be their best selling game with what seems to be at least 6.7 million units sold:

Didn't he litterly say that in a tweet when somebody was asking if he was working in SF5. I am sure somebody will post it.
I wouldn't put them on equal footing. One is a relatively successful IP that hasn't really sold more than 1-2m each iteration and the other is fucking Street Fighter.
This smells of paying to keep it off X1 rather than funding development.
This is fantastic, this is a ff13 tier meltdown here. They've gone and done it... they've gone and woke the sleeping dragon now.
Sony should have left well enough alone and now they're going to get it. It's not enough that they're bleeding benjamins from practically every crevice of their existence. Now they go and throw immense moneyhats at a niche game like Street Fighter just to piss off the market. Why pay to keep a game out of the hands of as many gamers as possible? Why not put that money into first-party studios and games instead?
I know, I know... this is the way the business goes as they say. Well, they forced Microsoft's hands with their early sales lead and Microsoft only responded with an NPD whooping (source: musings thread) by way of incredible deals and value. Microsoft will undoubtedly follow this announcement up with some real megatons of their own.
Gears remake collection. A true Banjo sequel. Halo 5 beta in the hands of gamers. The next Bayonetta, Dead Space and Crysis as exclusives. Those are the kinds of blockbuster response announcements I expect, and then some. You hit Microsoft with a jab, you best be ready for a flurry of uppercuts coming at you in response.
Didn't Ono say that Capcom couldn't afford to make SF5? So in this case that's good that Sony helped funding, I don't see how this is similar to Tomb Raider situation.

Yep. Capcom has shifted their focus away from consoles in a major way. People saying that SF5 selling 6 Million+ meaning something for whether a SF5 would exist without an exclusive partner in today's market haven't seen Capcom's shift towards the handheld/mobile/F2P model.
I'm surprised you of all people are taking what a company says at face value. Especially when I seem to recall you being very sceptical of the whole "MS partly funded Titanfall" story.Although maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

Is it? How did that do in sales? Honestly asking since I didn't get it due to it coming out so late during the gen.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 has sold a cumulative total of over 500,000 units across all platforms, Capcom revealed in a Fiscal Year 2014 Quarter 2 (FY2014 Q2) presentation to its investors this week.
This 500,000 figure accounts for the retail editions of the game as well as "full-game download" editions, which appears to imply that the digital upgrade editions of USF4 that came out in June for PS3 and X360 were not included in the tally.
The only reason I question the validity to that is how could Sony possibly afford to do that. It just doesn't seem realistic. Sony's method has always been through development. They tried desperately to do it with FFXV and it didn't work out. I don't give them the benefit of the doubt because I think they are any better than MS I just don't believe they could foot the bill.
Yes, please explain to all of us how Halo is a 3rd party exclusive.
They've gone and done it... they've gone and woke the sleeping dragon now.

Super Street Fighter IV sold 1.9 million total.
Ultra Street Fighter IV is at like 500K
http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/business/million.html
I'm sure the original Street Fighter 4 sold more than both the Super and Ultra versions. Capcom had 2m shipped only a week after release.
I'd be surprised if we didn't see Pokken Tournament making its way to the PC as well,
So they made Ultra instead of SF V just because?Show me where he says that they couldn't afford to make SF5?
Show me. Please.
Better than re invigorating the entire FG scene, and becoming the most popular FG in the world?I really hope they got their shit together after SFIV. I really want to return to Street Fighter. =/
They've gone and done it... they've gone and woke the sleeping dragon now.

He is saying that it's not the same situation like with TR because PS4 doesn't have only 1/2 of the install base of the Xbox One.
So take this with a grain of salt but I just heard from a friend that its basically the situation with Dead Rising. So if Sony is funding this, how is this different from Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo?
The only reason I question the validity to that is how could Sony possibly afford to do that. It just doesn't seem realistic. Sony's method has always been through development. They tried desperately to do it with FFXV and it didn't work out. I don't give them the benefit of the doubt because I think they are any better than MS I just don't believe they could foot the bill.
Capcom is just so damn weird. That's the biggest thing I take from all this. Capcom's just weird.
I get it. Contorted phrasing, but that makes more sense.I'm pretty sure he meant that in the context of when Tomb Raider exclusivity was announced, the Xbox One install base was half of the PS4's.
