Street Fighter V Beta 2 Thread: Welcome, future 21007s! Now on PC!

Psycho Blast range nerfed. NO ONE EVEN USED THAT MOVE.

They nerfed what made him fun. Thus he got nerfed to shit.

Why even have a point blank range charge move that is punishable yet can't be hit confirmed out of anything but a jump-in?

Bison now has two completely pointless specials. It was bad enough for him to have one.

He still has problems getting locked out of jumps due to two du charge moves.

Several of his already very limited combo options have been removed.

His damage was nerfed.

His arguably best poke got nerfed in range.

Psycho Blast range nerfed.

Knee Press x CA still whiffs sometimes.

He can't even link s.HP to c.MP anymore - why remove something so basic?

That is a pretty extreme set of changes.

Plus, since this is still the beta period, why wouldn't I be vocal about how displeased I am with these changes?

Whoa. I haven't gotten on today, but that is a whole lot of nerf thrown at Bison. Can he still do ex stomp after ex inferno in trigger?

Apparently, they are gonna nerf everyone into the ground before launch so they can keep to their mantra to only buff characters for balance.

Good.

I hope they tore Birdie to shreds.

Because you're entirely looking at this from the lens of what you lost from a previous version instead of looking at this character from the perspective of how they fit in the context of the current game. For example, pretend all the things you lost, you could never do. Now look at the character and how you'd approach the matches using the current tools instead of focusing on the old ones. They don't exist, they never have.

You're basically just saying he's bad because he's not like he was in the last beta and you're only approaching it with that old beta in mind. When dealing with such early builds of the game, you have to be willing to redevelop your approach and game plan for a character from scratch.
If he started out like this, I would have wondered why he had two useless specials, at least. I would think Psycho Inferno and Psycho Blast sucked, just like I do now.

So physco axe has CRAZY range, and can be linked into c.mp, but the game seems to REALLY hate it when I try. I swear that it actually slows down every time.

The easiest one I can think of is:

jMK, crMP, stMP, qcfK-P, qcbLK into either Super or EX qcb K (I can only land EX qcb K in the corner though)
Don't you mean EX QCB+P? Yeah, it seems like it only works in the corner. The rest of Karin's BnBs, are a variation of that. Keep in mind that you can also use cr.MK xx QCB+K (light or heavy for all hits, medium is an overhead mixup) as a punish if you aren't feeling confident and want sure damage. You can cancel those into super too.

My feedback so far:

Make normals less shitty.

Fix Necalli's hair.
And Mika's hair too, don't ruin excellent character animation by leaving the hair for the physics engine to animate, shit looks awful

Nothing wrong with normals though. :3

The two buffs I have found so far:
EX Psycho Blast travels MUCH slower.
Teleport dash is default.

Another nerf:
His VSkill no longer counters multihit moves.

It used to be better. :(

Yeah, VEX Inferno chains to VEX Stomp still, but VEX Blast NEVER does. Not even on a missed tech. Weird nerf.

Stubby normals coupled with half the characters in this game having abysmal walk speeds (what the fuck did they do to Bison lmao) means neutral feels like total dogshit with some characters. Moving Nash and Bison around feels like you're travelling through molasses.

The mic does a surprising amount of damage, so I've gotten several kills with it when the opponent just had a bit of life left and they became desperate as they saw the V-Skill activating.

Yup, just beat a Ken with it. Both times, my opponents tried to bum rush and close distance, only to get smacked by a mic. So good.

Inferno can be combo'd in to up close off cr mp and works as a frame trap and knocks down without using meter. I wouldn't call that useless.

Another Bison buff: stun is up from last beta. His max damage combo does like 85% stun. Pretty nuts.

I like Bison's slow walk speed. He has the best meterless footsie tool in the game, so he has to sacrifice something.

I should jump on and mess with Cammy, is she out yet?
Not yet.

Yeah i'm not even touching Dictator in that build lol
10-0 with him so far. Psycho Inferno nerf hasn't affected me because, just like in Beta 1, NO ONE BLOCKS.

Bison is a completely new character from his SF4 self, just like Makoto from previous SFs, he's balanced around that slow walk speed. If you can't deal with slow ass walk speed, play characters with good walk speed, lots of those in this beta!

Bison and Nash wouldn't be overpowered with better walk speeds, but they would probably actually be fun to play.

Vega users, what are the easiest confirms into super? And how about really simple uses for vtrigger as well?

(Without claw) MP > HK > Super
Rolling attack (any strength) > Super
V- trigger > Super

V-trigger can be used to take people out of the air from full screen. You can combo into it with his (clawed) HP. As a side note, remember that using when crouched changes the arc.

I once had Necalli's braid wrap around his eyes during his super freeze, reminding me of Geordie LaForge. It was awesome!

I'm dropping Necalli for now, too frustrating. Stubby normals, and even so, his lk stomp can still whiff during combos. His seismos are so dangerous to use, and his furthest poke is so slow. I'll try him again when the real game comes out though. I'm going to miss his super though.

I'm trying out Rashid now, pretty fun!

EDIT: HardRojo is right, EX qcb+K is better, deals more damage.

You can also use V Skill after qcf+K-P if you want to build V meter.

Saw them live like 5 years ago. Shit was so good. I'm more of yuka honda guy though. I liked her album with Yoshimi

Playing matches as Bison now. Crossup mk, cr. mp to inferno is a nice BnB for a knockdown. I don't get how this move is useless to you?

Psycho Blast already provides a knockdown in that situation, and it is safe on block. Useless.

Plus, who goes for a basic frame trap that is unsafe on block when you have safe alternatives? Just use Knee Press.

You can combo lk scissors off ex psycho blast which combos from cr mp as well. So for one meter you can get some pretty big damage
It has EX value - they both do. But moves shouldn't just be useful when you EX them.

Oh my god it feels soo good destroying all these Kens and Karins as Bison
R. Mika rocks me, though. Karin is about even. Nash is so much more manageable now that his antiairs suck.

down charge is easier to combo in to and more reliable than back charge.

Are we talking about only useful when EX moves now? Chun's SBK has never been a useful tool outside of EX. This isn't uncommon in SF. You can find some minor uses for some non-ex moves, but their strength can be in EX. I don't see a problem with that.

edit: and to answer your question about who goes for that frame trap? Someone who has the read that the other person likes pushing buttons between strings. That's like... the purpose of every frame trap. Nowhere does a frame trap necessitate that it's safe.

Someone might be able to play a charge character on the Hori FC4. That person is not me. Never had issues in SF4, but I never played charge characters in SF4. Bison/Necalli are unplayable for me right now.
