Street Fighter V F.A.N.G Gameplay

I posted this in the FGC thread but someone needs to gif Mike Ross with the hoodie rubbing his hands.

I find rushdown and frame trap characters most annoying to fight, and want some variety in opponent types, so he's welcome.

He's growing on me fast.

Didn't even realise this character was revealed 5 days ago lol.

I actually think he's up there with Necalli as most interesting newcomer. Laura the most uninspired so far.

LMAO.........."The CAN killed me?!!". Always fun to watch those 2 play and F.A.N.G looks interesting to play, not my type of character but I'd like to give him a try.

He looks like a mobile version of Guile x Gouken with less footsie options. Seems to have incredible low health too. I dunno, but his gameplan looks very "lame".

Nah, his vitality is average (according to his stats). It's that his damage is so low in comparison to Birdie.

Who said SFV has no gimmick characters the other day?

Gimmick characters =/= Zoner characters. Unless you think Dhalsim counts as a gimmick too.

Entertaining as always with these two, but Birdie's been a little scary since the start. He doesn't seem to have to work as hard as anyone else for the damage.

FANG looks like a prick, ofc. Very fun looking, and looking less annoying to fight than fellow prick-at-arms Blanka.

Tbh i don't like the graphic effect of poisoned state, i find it too visually invasive (and also kinda overlap with Bison's purle flames)

The arching projectile is a bit too spammy right now but I'm digging this character.

Yes. Be afraid.

He's a big, slow target. Just about everything he has is also unsafe/punishable. Quick/high mobility characters are tough matchups. Chuns are my kryptonite in the beta. But play smart/patient, make a couple good reads and yeah... you're taking rounds.

I think just turning the health bar purple is enough, but showing the effect on the character does seem to add a sense of urgency that would be missing otherwise.

So is a there a way to get out of the Poison status effect? Can you stack poison status damage? Like, if they're already poisoned, can you poison them again to double the poison rate?

You hit Fang to stop Poison effect.

The rate doesn't change I think, just the duration?

Combofiend said he was a charge character on twitter... Ah well, looks like I gotta learn to play charge. It's limiting... but I think I'll manage, and unlike with Balrog and Vega in SF4, there looks like there's a good balance related reason to make him charge based.

Balrog being charge is based on a balance reason too. Charge isn't limiting. You just need to learn how to always stay charging.

I'm working on a 1080p/60fps version of the video for YouTube (most of the existing ones are either low-res, highlights, or both). I'll post the link here when it's done.

I don't think there is a duration to the poison. It lasts until you hit Fang. Also Combo says he's a charge character so you know I'm in there.

Casual players who stink against online opponents won't like him much then. Many can't figure out how to bypass zoning efforts and will be forced to take him on. You can just spam your projectiles against them and make life difficult although not impossible.

That was a fun watch! FANG looks great! Will probably be the first character I play with on release.

Peter was going in way too much but I guess that's just Peter.

Ya... that last part's kind of a pain tbh. Also, getting crossed up sucks, and misjudging a charge and jumping up like a moron happens to even the best players. Charging is always worse than motion.

Balrog thing is debatable. I feel like there's nothing about his specials that warrant the charge motion. Frame data honestly not that good.

There's no fadc's to get through fb's anymore either. :P

Give it time. I suggest getting used to charge by playing Bison or Guile. There's a learning curve. I used to be like you. Now I'm pro-charge.

F.A.N.G makes me wanna main all of Shadaloo, so I may as well start with Bison then. Honestly, this may be a good thing because he's the first character that's compelling enough to make me wanna learn charge. At least now I won't have any issues playing the others (hopefully).

Fireball traps/zoning and charge commands? That's awesome; they saved the best for last in terms of the initial roster rollout, imo.

Nah, Charge is better. I very rarely have the problems you're speaking of, and if I do, I know it's my fault. Controlling space is part of the charge character's MO, and if you're consantly getting crossed, then you should look at why. Betting it has nothing to do with the moves and everything to do with the player.

If Balrog was a motion he could punish every attack on whiff from 3/4 screen away. That would be stupid as hell.
