Yeah wonderful OT, game has me so hype right now. Thanks again for the great thread, character charts, and trophy list.

It's a new age of Street Fighter, GAF. Embrace it. Breathe it in.

"Cuz when the road feels too long, I'll still be holding on~"

Any chance we can get a PSN/Steam groups set up for SFV GAF? Might be the best way to get matches between gaffers until 8 man lobbies are up.

Fantastic OT. Looking forward to picking up my copy tomorrow morning. Any other AusGAF people wanna play some matches tomorrow?

Still really debating getting this on PSN and preloading it...

I don't think I've ever really gotten a fighter at launch before. I sort of want to get good at SFV. Like since the DLC plan is really nice... Make it my go to fighter for a while.

OT is tits foreal.

Having a hard time resolving the "SFV Normal Priority System" video linked in the OT:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdNXIIVWTYU

and the "Disrepect Pressure with Counter-Hit Jab combos! " video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-xQqErTloA

Should you contest block strings with jabs even though the priority system favors mediums that beat them? Not sure.

The priority system determines which attack (if either) has advantage if they become active on the same frame.

The second video is talking about using jabs or lights where you know that the attacker does not have enough initiative to follow certain blocked buttons with other buttons. A good example is Bison's df.HP. This button is +1 in Bison's advantage if you block it. However, Bison does not have any normal button that starts up in less than 4 frames. If you are playing someone like Karin who has a 3 frame cr.LP, you know that if you cr.LP out of blockstun from his df.HP, there is no button he can hit that is going to actually beat your cr.LP. The best he can do is trade with his own cr.LP or cr.LK (which is 4 frames but he has the +1 frame advantage from you blocking the df.HP). The only factor you really need concern yourself with at that point is the spacing (to ensure your cr.LP or whatever actually can reach him after you block the df.HP). If he tries any other button (most commonly cr.MP at 6 frames) you will counterhit him (again assuming you're in range to do so).

A lot of folks in the beta were trying to apply pressure with medium and heavy buttons, and there are a lot of cases where the attacker is being too greedy in doing so and doesn't actually have enough frame advantage to do that safely. Once you actually check the frame data on those attacks (or test them in training mode) you can get a better sense of when people are just being greedy and when they are actually threatening with a frame trap.

In some cases attackers are flat out at disadvantage but players don't realize it and allow them to get away with continued pressure (Laura and Bison in particular getting away with additional buttons after a blocked Bolt Charge or Scissor Kick). Those kinds of things are probably more important to figure out first since threatening to interrupt tight pressure gaps with jab or light can get blown up by a player to gets caught out by this and decides to try and counterhit jab your counterhit jab. The larger picture is more about learning when you have initiative, when you don't, and what you can do with the particular amount of initiative you have in common situations.

I imagine it will be easier to do once we all have our CFN names and what not. I imagine some people will be going with different names then their PSN or Steam ID. Either way I'm definitely down!

Way easier just to message someone on the steam list and ask for the CFN name, than look up both on some spreadsheet.

Incredible OT!

Got the standard edition on Friday. Picking up the Collector's Edition on Tuesday and the CE Guide is on its way. I may import the Hot Edition just for the cover art at some point.

I'm going to keep track of how much I spend on this game over the years, because SFIV was really up there considering trips to tournaments etc. Made so many friends through SFIV. It was sort of life changing.

Eight more years! I'm ready.

Ah, I've noticed that in the OT that it's written that the Chun Li TE2 has a L3/R3 function as well as a touchpad; this isn't true. The Chun Li TE2 doesn't have those features, and the TE2+'s main selling point is that it has those.

Plenty of people still do.

Also, I thought the OP was trying to pick a name that wasn't inflammatory. I can see this one causing more fights than the one people didn't want used.

Fights amongst who? The hardcore fans are the first to admit the game is barebones for now, its why the pun is so good.

Anyone know how the story works with this game?
I don't follow street fighter that closely, but what everyone is saying is confusing me.
Apparently the story is after SF3 but before SF4. So then why is everyone older than they were in SF4?

ex. grey hair Bison, bearded Dalshim.
