So I stayed up till 0100 last night to play this at European launch, got a one-time error 1100a trying to connect, got in but just ended up playing a couple of story intros cos I was tired as hell (and had to get up 5 hours later).

Not been able to play since and probably won't be able to tonight, but by the sounds of things it would appear I'm not missing much in terms of server stability. Hope it gets better for those wanting to play today, though.

Otherwise the game feels good. My problem is however that I'm terrible. And like any scrub-who-finally-wants-to-take-it-seriously-this-time, the game is still struggling with explaining the systems to a level you actually need to feel good while playing the game.

But eh, I'm happy to just spend time reacquainting myself with using a stick and just getting the basics down again (consistent hadoukens and DPs and whatnot), then drill some BnBs for Chun, who I'm hoping to make some headway with.

The game isn't finished by any means. I knew what I was getting into and I'm totally fine with that, but people who are not following the news must be really pissed right now.

You can download MSI Afterburner and check fps for on-screen display monitoring.

Or enable the fps counter on the Steam options. Have to be running desktop and not big picture for it.

Some (if not all) special moves have a special EX version. Just press two buttons instead of one and it uses up 1 bar of your super meter.

You probably saw the EX Dragon Punch.
To do it yourself, do the normal DP motion but press two punch buttons instead of one. You'll spend a bit of CA meter but the DP will be a stronger version.

Usually many special moves in the game have a more powerful version of themselves called an EX version. It costs 1 bar of meter, but they're better in every way. It's whatever the special move is but with 2 punches or kicks at the same time.

So it's a trade off of whether you want to use 1 stock for an EX version or save it for a super.

I would say T.Hawk is very unpopular. From the characters that show up in story mode beyond the ones announced, there is no T.Hawk in sight.

I think some people are just so excited about new Street Fighter that they are acting like it's not a big deal that this is a shell of a package with skeevy stuff going on.

This is an early access game being sold full-price and it's not being marketed as one unless you're the kind of hard core fan who reads FGC websites and threads. The survival mode stuff is an embarassing attempt at giving players busywork. If it's not fun, but you have to do it anyway to earn what you want, then it's a job. A character may be free with FM, but time is money. How many hours will it take some people to earn 100k each time a character releases vs just spending $6, less than an hour's work at minimum wage, to unlock the character?

They also never said an internet connection was required for earning FM. I guess I get why, but it has a certain implication. Assuming servers get fixed, and I'm sure they will be, that still doesn't help people who don't usually have internet access. Sucks for them that when an oppprtunity to get online comes around they won't have the FM to buy a character.

I think in this game the bonus round is that we get to beat up the servers instead of a car, and that we get to do that in any mode by simply playing the game...

The server troubles are expected, but what isn't is server disconnects knocking the player back to the main menu regardless of what they're doing (single or multi). It makes even single player (since you can't play online with crashes every few minutes) a pain in the ass. You don't want to be that guy on the 50th survivor mode match who gets disconnected at the last second. Worst of all Fight Money can't be obtained while disconnected from the server (even if you have an internet connection going). SFV is currently like a quasi always-online fighter in a weird way.

Too few people are playing for anyone to be penalized.
