haven't experienced any ragequits and seem to be getting matches a lot more often now. i still suck though. everyone kicks my ass. i don't feel the training mode is that great. maybe if the enemy fought back. survival mode is better but even on the highest difficulties it's still not that much of a challenge.

any tips? i'm playing with ryu mostly at the moment. i can figure out what the Y/B and R1/R2 combos do exactly. it doesn't seem to make a difference. sometimes he does that hadouken? shot but i really don't know HOW to do it. i'm really terrible at the game but i do want to get better.

Person who doesn't DC shouldn't get a win for doing nothing.

Why?

If your opponent doesn't turn up to your match in a tournament, they get DQed and you get a win. You should absolutely get a win if your opponent chooses to leave. You have expended your time to be there, and your opponent has chosen to leave, which in many cases is because he was about to lose anyway, you should absolutely, receive a win for that.

I don't have a problem cancelling a medium or heavy normal into super, but when I try to do Laura's cr.lk x 2 into super my brain just fails. I'm trying to use the first lk to buffer the motion but that makes the whole thing fall apart for some reason.

What rank are you at? From what I've seen, ragequits occur most frequently between 1000-3000 LP.

I have 1800 and a good 50% of my wins end in a final moment ragequit. Even from higher ranked players.

If you pre-ordered it directly from the PSN store or the Steam store, then you got the Chun-Li Alternate outfit.

In the character select screen, pick Chun-Li and you should be able to change your costume as well as the color.

Nothing showing up. I haven't used my PS4 much so not sure but does it have a section like XB1 that shows the game and installed/available DLC?

Winning by default counts as a win IMO. If someone quits on you in a ~real sport~ it counts as a win for you, don't see why it would be any different in this here competition of digital athletics.
Because it's an online ladder and I'm sure people would find some way to abuse it by forcing disconnects on others. The less incentive they get for that the better.

It usually does, it's the add-ons section.

Highlight the game in the Home screen (the XMB? don't know what to call it) and highlight street fighter. Then press down. you should be able to see the add-ons section.

Alternatively, go to the library and find street fighter and you should be able to find it there too.

EDIT: Though I think this particular thing doesn't show up there. I pre-ordered it and have the costume available but it's not in the add-ons section.

As someone who has never rage quit, I'm starting to worry if this is going to turn into a witch hunt. For instance, a few (very few) of those "rage quits" in the 100+ video look like people losing connection during the first round when they are not about to be KOed. Isn't that just the definition of a D/C? It makes sense they'd stop blocking (due to the server not reading inputs) and eat a combo before the D/C.

Also, it's super obvious / too much of a coincidence that a good amount of the fights in that video look like rage quits (high win streak, whiff a throw just before D/C, inputs just before D/C, taunt before D/C, etc.).

Until Capcom themselves set up a server side solution to it I have a feeling rage quitting is going to always going to be "guilty until proven innocent", which is sad. Of course, I'm not nearly good enough at this game to have to worry about it. I'll just keep hovering around 500 and popping in and out of bronze with my Ws and Ls, thank you very much.

Who cares if people abuse an online ladder? I'm sure if they abuse it to get to the top of the leaderboard (assuming there is a way to do it) then it will be very apparent through replays and it will be easy to ban their accounts. If they ever play in matchmaking chances are they'll lose/ragequit and give the better player their LP.

Why have the focus on punishing exploiters rather than having their victims not feel frustrated? A simple win/loss would resolve 100% of my issues whenever somebody rage quits against me.

I beat a silver Ken with 16 win streak and just waiting for the disconnect message at that point. But nope I got my points lmao! That gave me a 6 win streak. Re-queue'd ranked, we are matched together again. His win streak was gone (it registered correctly) but I lost the second bout down to the last magic pixel - damnit! I forgot his name but thanks for great matches online warrior, that's how it's supposed to go. Take the L like gentlemen.

It's never been a problem before, and sure they could DDOS them to make them disconnect, but you could also DDOS just enough to make the match unplayable on your opponent end. If people are so invested in cheating that they were going to 'find some way of forcing disconnections' there are plenty of other exploits they could employ, that work around a zero point gain on disconnect.

Plus, if it begrudges people of the win, then people will still leave, sacrificing their points to take the win from opponents. Being salty makes people spiteful.

Seems to be a common problem. You were right, the costume is attached to the game not as DLC. Even though I pre-ordered I didn't download until a few days after release so that could be why.

Because it would trivialize the point of the ladder so why care about getting the win then?

Disconnects should only net you a win if you actually won the match - ragequitting mid second round KO for example - otherwise you don't really deserve anything, then you're rewarding people with shitty connections in a P2P game because people can't stay connected to them.

It's not been a problem because other games don't dole out wins for disconnects, just punishments.

As long as you pre-ordered, you should be able to access it. If it's not there, try contacting Sony support/Capcom support.

It's not been a problem becaue other games don't dole out wins for disconnects, just punishments.

Well, that's just not true.

A player that disconnects on MKX, provides a win to his opponent. A team that disconnects on DOTA or League, provides a win to the opposing team. A team that disconnects on CS GO, provides a win to the opposing team. A player that disconnects on Fifa, again... provides a win to his opponent.

Just because you're familiar with crappy Capcom fighters doesn't mean the online infrastructures aren't better organised elsewhere. If you leave a match, you forfeit the match, conceding the outcome to your opponent, and that's how it should be. The opponent has invested his time, trying to win, playing his character, and therefore absolutely, deserves to take the match.

A minority exploiting something doesn't trivialise the rest of the system for a player-base. Even if you still want to make that argument then the win/loss on DC resolves that issue given any interaction players have with the exploiter would result in a regular match outcome and if the exploiter cheated enough to become visible to the playerbase on leaderboards then it would be easy to ban their accounts.

Finally managed to find a good Persian Karin player, YES! Had around a dozen of matches with him and man Karin's mix-up is sooo scary.

She goes from high to low to cross-up in no time! Few first rounds were me just getting my ass handed to me but I slowly started to get used to her and had a few wins of my own.

It felt good to have a number of completely smooth matches against a new character. I just wish that more people would pick up the game over here. Sigh, maybe more people give it a chance after Capcom releases the story expansion.

Most of those games also have systems in place as to not make teams lose because someone disconnected at the start by making it so the match never happened and only the leaver loses points. You can also try and win in most of them, you aren't given a free win in platter.

You can set your opponent to fight back in training.

I'm with you that we can't 100% prove it was a player DC on purpose, but the repetitive nature of DC'ing in the final round before KO in most of these videos is a good indicator. Unless all these guys are having packet loss just before they're KO'd
kappa
. Capcom can build their own reported list to see multiple offenders. The point is to just report it and move on to the next match, let Capcom be the judge. Good players will rise-up regardless of the DC's and the frauds will be exposed and dealt with in time.

Bombed out on Normal Survival at Stages 27, then 28 with Cammy thanks to the health recovery being low.

Thanks, Capcom. Never again. You're not getting a goddamn dime from me now for DLC if this is the shit you're gonna pull

Finally got some matches in. Played a seemingly string Rashid with my beginner laura. Got bodied. Next match, I'm destroying this cat and he rages before I can even finish the round. Sensitive fucking egos. What's the fun in playing only scrubs?

Just left ranked matchmaking going for 30 minutes. Not a single one. Man, I at least got something during the first week. I feel like things became even worse than during the launch for me.

mmmmh absorbing spammed Hadokens with Nash and blinking behind the opponents back. Worth every RQ.

Exact same situation for me. I only seem to get matched up with Americans and I get a 1bar connection to them which is unplayable.

It still worked well at the beginning but ever since the maintenance, I haven't gotten a single match.

It's sad to read that matchmaking is so uneven over the whole world. I get mostly lagfree matches every 1-2 minutes and then I read others have jackshit.
Hopefully Capcom fixes it.

Yeah I guess, but you didn't RQ and I'd hardly call what you did spamming ;-)
gg

Edit: wait you won lol

If anyone's still having long load time issues with the PC version try turning off the Steam overlay. That fixed it for me. Why the overlay affected communication with Capcom's servers is beyond me but I am very glad I found a fix.

None of the games listed treat disconnections any differently once the match has begun, regardless of whether the players or team disconnected at begging, or end of the match.

The team based ones 'play on' with forfeit activated if the enemy team don't rejoin after dc, but the one vs one games (Fifa and MK) simply provide a win to the guy who did not dc, regardless of when the disconnection took place, after matchmaking has finished.

Could it also be not enough players left in your region? They have abandoned the game due to bad matchmaking and not enough content? Who knows....I hope its just MM issues and not people abandoning the game like SFxTekken...

Just got beat by a Dhalsim and the game give me the cannot retrieve data error afterwards, smh at these servers.

At least it took the LP from me after it so the guy probably have gotten his earned LP and FM as well, but man, now he might see me as a RQer :(

I don't see why he would since you both got your changes in LP and you didn't actually RQ.

Out of curiosity, does the game place you correctly on the world map? I suspect that SFV is using something like GeoIP to locate players geographically, and then uses that information to narrow down the range of candidate opponents that are sent to your client. If so, then being misplaced due to inaccurate information could result in your client primarily being offered opponents who are then filtered out based on your / their connection settings.

Did you also get two different music tracks playing afterwards, when that happened? That usually happens for me if I get disconnected at that point.

I hate that you can only use canned phrases in Battle Lounges. I mean I get why, but it's a stupid reason, and means I can never really interact with dudes during/after sets, especially if they're on a different platform.
