Nope! All of the file sizes are the exact same as Mika's regular costume so there is no performance impact.

Thanks :D to be honest I haven't played properly in nearly a week, just been modding and stuff. Played briefly yesterday night (I think) and lost every single match. Ah well :P
 
Mika's damage output off of whiffed hits or jumps-ins is insane. I can imagine she'll get a slight damage nerf in the future.

Insane compared to who? I can do 618 dmg easy w/ Birdie if I have meter/v-trigger and land a jump in or get a crush counter. Mika has to work hard, and her damage overall is slightly underwhelming imo.

I'm guessing you're referring to wallbounce combos.

That one game where we both started lagging was odd so just screwed around the last few as I figured we'd be done (was a good sign lol).

Forgot my combos the second set, was feeling like Ryan Hart did in Europe at the first CPT event haha.

(My life for an invincible reversal).

You deserve that character after the hell of Deejay.

It's not hard getting a wall bounce set-up.

Get some rest, man. Go lay down and think about getting a heating pad or taking a hot bath if you can. Had my car totaled a few years ago and felt totally fine the entire day afterwards. Woke up the next day and couldn't move because I was so sore. It was so surreal.

Thanks guys. Owens you aren't kidding. I felt fine and now I feel like I definitely have hairline fractures on my ribs/chest area. Hip area has some bruising from the seatbelt too, and that hurt a lot initially, but is fine now.

Stuck doing work out of town now that I got my rental car. I'd rather be at home resting, but I'm stuck.

At least I have a few days to watch tech on my phone. Up my Vega knowledge.

You honestly punished like 60% of my command throw attempts which was like 30-40% of my health each time lol. Your use of V-Reversal made me have to change up my whole gameplan because if I overextended too much I'd just end up knocked down. I tried to switch to regular throws because the command throws were getting too risky but her regular throw has like negative range lol shit goes no where. As much as I tried to take advantage when I had you knocked down, one blocked normal = V-Reversal and now I'm knocked down :/

Aside the fact that I am free to neutral jumps, how are people supposed to deal with Laura after hard knockdown.

I about laughed my ass off when I jumped out of one of your throw attempts and you still had time to do that dp / throw on hit move lol.

Both of us were getting hit by mad neutral jumps lol. And yea, I can whiff a regular throw and still HP elbow in case you neutral jump lol.

One thing that was getting me salty was that after you did the ex/regular head stomp, my HP Elbow would always auto correct into a thunder clap and I couldn't use it at all :/.

I was getting hit by so many Dash -> HK or Throw, I tried to hit the dashes before they got to me by pre-emptively throwing out a button.. eat a scissor kick for trying lol

but yea ggs, I think you did a lot better when you tried playing keep away, but honestly one ex fireball confirm and the game could be over

Fang is the antithesis of what Mika is. He's gonna try and slowly bring the other guy down from a safe distance. mind you, if he goes in he can still pull of some nasty ass shit.

Mika on the other hand, has fuck all options at range, and needs to work her way in before she can actually do anything, so of course she will be more effective in quick dmg output when given the chance.

You mean the grappler that has to be in melee range to do any damage does more damage than the guy with the projectiles and damage over time effect? Whodathunkit.

Yeah, felt like that too. I tried to choose when to go in (like after a successful V-reversal), because you DID catch some dashes and it was like once your Laura got rolling, it was a steamroller in potential damage.

Two big damage characters, oi.

That and the "Throw a spark so I can EX-headstomp you".

Sometimes I won that guess, sometimes you did a quick one and punished. I enjoyed the sets immensely.

One question, what's your opinion on that overall matchup? I have opinions, but curious of yours as the last time I discussed a match-up with you, you proved me wrong with f'ng math, so, will now accede to your opinion on it.

I do think I am going to consider Laura like Seth and feel no shame at getting perfected by her (she's fairer, don't get me wrong, but ouch).
 
Do any R. Mika players here have any useful links that might help a beginner out in learning her? What resources are you guys using?

So far she's pretty fun :)

  1. I have trouble pressuring my opponents on their wakeup
  2. I can't deal with getting jabbed repeatedly/I don't use my own jabs enough
  3. Issues with being crossed up/not connecting crMP
  4. Ryu

Really want to play her, but I'm shifting to birdie for a bit to clear my head, I think.
 
Mika isn't bad by any means. I win a lot of matches with her and she has a lot of options. She struggles against Ryu, Laura, and pretty much others like Dhalsim.

I find that Mika can be pretty scary up close...but her main challenge is trying to get in there. She seems to be lacking a tool to get in. Perhaps upgrading her V-skill will improve this. We all know her V-skill is really sub par.

It is a pretty bad v skill unless you know when to use it and take the hit. I get in with crouching fierce and if they block it, I command grab. Once I see them adapting by using neutral jump, I jump heavy kick instead of the grab. I also like to mix them up by charging my standing heavy kick into ex command grab. You can also do crush counter dash forward crouching fierce and reset into command grab or your target combo. But ideally for big damage you want crush counter dash forward fierce ex wingless airplane.

I haven't said she is bad. At least not that I remember, maybe I have in a fit of rage after a loss or something, but not seriously. That's not to say she doesn't have downsides though?

She clearly has weak aspects that can make her very hit or miss in a match. Some matches you are gonna get blown the fuck up because you go up against a player where either you lose the reads/guesses/mindgame war that happens most matches. Or you just meet a Ryu or Dhalsim who knows the Mika matchup pretty well and just zone you out completely.

And then other games you get the rioght jump in, put them in the corner and just completely run them over in 15 seconds.

Compared to Fang. Oh. lol. If anything that means he needs a buff, not that probably low tier Mika needs a nerf.

Something to keep in mind w/ Fang is that the game doesn't show the cumulative damage (meaning including poison) in training mode. So Fang may hit for close to the same damage when all is said and done, and in some cases more, provided you don't get hit right away. Also, he's got good stun for a relative weakling, and he's probably the only character (now that Mika's mic sucks) with whom you would want to almost let your opponent recover from dizzy before pummeling them. Let that poison tick away. Every hit point counts.

If cr.hp is blocked, you can cancel recovery of that with VT (back/front) and do a light WA for the Nadeshiko cross up.
 
Damn man I hate to ask this but have you compiled your posts by any chance. You've been posting some awesome gifs and mods, I know ive missed some.

If you can get right next to the opponent, f.HP is a very good option in general. It's a crush counter and is plus on block, so the only options the opponent has is (1) block, (2) invincible reversal, and (3) armored reversal. Not every character has the latter 2 and even if they block it you still get some pressure.

Normal throws are underrated on wake-up. If the opponent jumps over them, you can still usually anti-air with c.MP. IMO, you should start doing this if they jump out of your command throw setups.

f.MK and s.HK can hop over low jabs on wake-up and punish them. Not the best option unless you've got a read on a masher or something.

If you get a hard knockdown, like off of a crush counter sweep, try dropping the mic on them so that it hits meaty. Free pressure and power boost.

If your opponent's only invincible options require the use of their meter, don't be afraid to force them to waste it. I like pressuring Karin's into doing this just so that I don't have to worry about her super as much (and Karin's EX DP is relatively easy to jump over at point blank).

I think it might be 5-5. Both characters can go to town when the other is knocked down because they're both free as hell on KD. Once both characters get going it's hard for both characters to stop the momentum.

I wouldn't call Laura Seth.. maybe more like SF4 Ibuki. Seth had an uppercut/grab/teleport/divekick/good normals lol
 
Really feel like I'm getting better at the game now btw. You can sort of feel when that happens in every SF, it's interesting. Even my primitive Ryu is less terrible than just yesterday. Good stuff.
 
There are so few dhalsims online.
In two days i haven't been matched with any sim.

The matchmaking needs to be faster, i wait more than i am playing it also keeps matching me with people who have 2-3 times less points than me.
I wish there were ranked lobbies so i could choose my matches and have rematches if i wanted. Maybe with some restrictions for fight money earned so that it is not abused.
