Had 5 online matches this morning and win all of them. That felt good :)

But, man was I invaded by Karin army or what. I think 4 of my matches were against 4 different Karin's. I actually managed to level down one of them, lol

The salt and the successes of ranked. Fluctuated between 2400 and 2800 LP today, learning new tech in how to blow matches. Floe would be like "man, how you choke so much, you choking choker you". Finally settled down after a while and got back to where I was before stopping to watch WNF.

I just need to keep grinding and get more consistent.

Man I pretty much had the same experience today. Started off at 2500, got to 2800 something at most. I told myself I'll call it a day if I can get to 3k. Started losing a lot and got as low as 2290 before I climbed up to 2700 something before I finally quit. I blame a lot of those losses on me playing poorly instead of feeling like I got outplayed. Of course people on the other side will probably feel the same as well but man, I really feel like I should have done a little better.

Cammy you beautiful son of a bitch.

There is nothing more intense and fun than a ranked match of SFV. Especially now that I can hold my own. I'm countering like a champ, defending the air like an F-18, and I'm aggressive enough to scare my opponents.

Silver here I come.

I am very close at maining Cammy again as my win luck or streak with Karin is dwindling. I love playing as Cammy but feel bad for ignoring new characters and just sticking to the old. Nothing is more satisfying than being the anti air monster that is Cammy.

its not the anti air thats the problem its his normals i play chun although ex head stomp is a problem try to react and have a bad anti-air trade

For bison i use bHK for AA instead of sLK for Chun. Less trades and his slow jump/head press gives you alot of time to react.

Gotta practice this combo with my Ken today as well:

Jump-in hk, b+mp,hp, hk tatsumaki
Hey, that's almost the combo that I practice *high fives*
Just switch the J.hk with J.mk to get the cross-up and that's what I've been doing for the couple of past days :)

Still can't do it in real matches though :( I usually just panic and go j.mk, c.mp, h.dp instead.

Yes...which overall symbolizes an invincible move that can be used as an anti-air

And what is an invincible move? An armor move where it goes through even though you get hit?

Lol that's funny. It's gonna be a lot of fun!

You might want to practice s.lp,b + mp, hp. Because with Ken you can hit confirm with the light into the target combo (if they block the air attack or something), and s.lp is safe if they block (+ i think). Also if you do b+mp it's - on block, but you can do b + mp, s.HP xx ex fireball to make yourself plus.

"Invincible" in fighting games means they have a move where for some frames, there is no hitbox.

"Armor" in fighting games still has a hitbox that your attack will connect on, your attack will just be absorbed by that armor and usually not stop them.

Invincible is Ryu's Medium DP passing straight through your button and hitting you with no effect to Ryu

Armor is you hitting Gief as he's doing his EX Running Grab and him visibly absorbing your attack and going through.

Invincible is also you not being able to do anything to Ryu as he uses Medium DP or you'll get hit, while armor is also you being able to just throw Gief out of his armored run, or knock him out of it with a quick two-hit move, etc.

This game is weird with tech throws, there is something off. Most of the time I can't tech even though I'm pretty sure I pressed the buttons at the right time :/

Anyway, after losing like a chump yesterday on ranked I reached the conclusion that I'm going to change characters every 5 losses (ranked and casual): Bison, Vega, Zangief. Zangief is so, so, so fun even when losing. People are generally scared as fuck to get close and the combo cr LP xx Lariat is devastating.

Not quite. Armor typically will only protect you from one or two hits (e.g. some of Birdie's moves have 1 hit of armor, and Necalli's charge has 1 hit of armor against projectiles). Instead, you cannot be hurt at all during an invincible move, so if you moves hit each other, and one is invincible, then the invincible move will always win, while a multi-hit attack can beat armor. There is also the notion of "throw invincible", which means just that, that you cannot be thrown during (part of) that move, as well as "projectile invincible", or "hit invincible", or "lower body invincible", the last of which applies for example to one of Karin's leaping attacks, allowing her to get over projectiles. "Fully invincible" is sometimes used to clarify when all of the above applies, but often that is what people say when they just say "invincible".

Oh wow. Here's some stuff for me to write down. I'm learning something every single day it's amazing!

I still feel very nervous about cancelling though.

One thing that helps make sure you're getting the right timing on your combos is to set the training dummy to block after first hit. If you're getting things right, your entire combo will hit otherwise it'll get blocked.

are combos your main problem atm?

You can asks questions here. We'll be glad to help. Alternatively, there's a fighting game newbie thread here, in which they discuss tips and arrange games amongst them.
Thanks guys. So far it's just been combos that are giving me a hard time.
Like this one for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxUsl83oQfg&feature=youtu.be&t=3m50s After the spinning kick I can't seem to land the shoryuken to hit my opponent. I'm doing it as fast as I think it's possible but no matter what it just doesn't hit the dummy.

The only character that feels straight up cheap right now is Bison. I just fought a guy who seemed to literally be mashing normals, and I still couldn't find a single opening as Necalli. Beyond frustrating.

No way, Necalli can destroy Bison only with normals. Your timing must have been off or something, because I've been destroyed by Necalli's that literally used no combos or specials, only normals. Necalli's normals are very good.

That's weird cause I've been maining Bison and Necalli is the one matchup where I have legit trouble. His normals are just so good.

Yo did you just play me? I love bullying people as Bison. You can dp out of most of it though lol

So um FUCKKKKKK hard survival mode.

I've slogged through easy and normal (2x for Cammy, Ryu, and Bison alt costumes) for colors and fight money.

And can't see myself doing it at least 19x more times [successfully] for the rest of the colors/FM.

I really hope they change their minds about the Survival mode stuff and let us get colours through other means. I dont think there is a single person out there that enjoys playing it.

Playing battle lounge to learn matchups.

i've learned that I'm basically fucked if I run into any FANGs, I cant figure out that fucker. I got triple double perfected from a FANG.

I need to play more battle lounge, just so I can learn the uncommon matches.

I don't know anyone that's ever enjoyed playing it honestly. It was one of those things you did like once or twice back in the day, then afterward left the feature alone forever altogether for every fighter afterward.

Where did the servers go? Is it just me? Got disconnected in the middle of an intense match vs. Nash, damn it was good. So bitter.

Tonight is the first time I feel like I'm finally getting into a groove, starting to get a handle on the game. Finally pulling out wins consistently, even beat somebody a league above me. I wish I didn't suck so much at Street Fighter, damn, but it's so much fun.
