Laura's theme IS good. It's fun and energetic, like her character...and it reminds me of the first Rocko's Modern Life theme at some points.

Her theme is meh, but her Story mode theme is fire, I wish they let us use those. Goku's theme against Ken is really cool too, it even has a small hint of Third Strike there.

Yeah, I bounced on over to the subreddit to see if they had some discussion on the subject and that's the gist I am getting too. When I played with her, I liked her set up style (although, I dunno about DP motions for projectiles), but I wasn't too confident on my execution.
As an aside, I just need to get over my own character crisis at the moment given that there has to be a reason I keep trying to give this game another chance; won a set with Cammy yesterday and was like "nah, not getting anything out of this with this character." But I pretty much ran down most of the cast already and am running out of options.
I would probably give Necalli a fair shake at this point if his design wasn't so "this couldn't have been the best they could do." Could also join the Karin army, but I am way too defensive for that lady (unless defensive Karins exist in this game, well, as defensive as you can get in SFV for not being Guile).

Her character theme is straight. I think people only hate it because of the cuica and samba samples, but it's actually a little funky and reminiscent of 90s dance songs. It's nothing I would put on a mixtape, but I don't think it's in the bottom half of character themes in SFV.

shes a pretty risky character to play. Stuff like vskill, counters, pretty much all her specials are at least -4 or more. Your spacing has to be on point so that you wont get punished using some of her tools. Her vreversal is pretty bad. Her walkspeed is slow and her normals have short range. Though she does have some normals that are pretty good. I'd say shes like mid or low-mid or something like that. Not as bad as those 4 probably.

Well if you have a PS3 then I'd recommend playing through Yakuza 4 and then 5 if you have the time to spare. Yakuza 4 is the second best entry point into the series after Yakuza 0. It's as much of a reboot as it gets with 3 new protagonists, new characters and new places. Yakuza 5 continues from Y4.
Yakuza 4 was also the PS+ game for February 2015, and Yakuza 5 was also the PS+ game for August 2016 so if you had active subscriptions you might even own the game if you bothered with that. They can still be gotten digitally (Yakuza 5 is digital only, sadly).
Congrats on the wedding.
But seriously, play Yakuza 0.

And? Scarface is literally one of the most influence films of all time. In multiple mediums, its scarface flatout.

I still have it in my cart smh..SFV is keeping me from happiness lol. Every time I go to play something new, I don't and just turn on SFV for a few matches and then watch TV shortly after. I know I'm missing some great experiences, my backlog

Funnily enough, that's the same question I asked when I got into the series.
Fuck all of them, play Yakuza 0 first. All you need to do is start up a game and once it gets it's hooks into you then it'll be much easier to keep playing.
Otherwise it's a good ol problem of having way too many options to choose from so you choose from none of them.
If Majima or Kiryu actually do get added to Tekken 7, then I'll give away 2 copies on NeoGAF.
