Student mistakenly Submits CD With Child Porn To His Professor

Police reports quote an e-mail Erickson sent to his professor, in which he appears to attempt to shift ownership of the disc from himself to an unnamed friend.

"Oh snap, I am sorry. I accidentally gave you my friend's mixed music CD that I meant to keep here and install the music on my computer," Erickson said in an e-mail to his professor. "I found the CD with the (final exam) on it. If there's some way I could send it to you, that would be great.

"I am sorry about that, and hope it didn't affect the grade at all. Again, if I could get that CD back so that I can install the music. Sorry for the mix up."

Funny thing is when I found out about this I thought I hit some kind of IP tracker site but really he lives like 10 mins away from me! Also wouldn't have posted this without his handydandy MYSPACE!

quick question, obviously with the kid emailing the prof and saying it was a music cd and not his already makes it look like he is guilty but i am just curious,

i don't have all the details but couldn't the kid just say that cd isn't his and that it could be another students or the professors? like what kind of evidence would the authorities need to get a warrant and search the kids home? Just the professors word?? Couldn't he just say its not mine and be done with it?

Was the CD labeled with his name and identification but then how do they really know that it was his cd and he owned it and burnt the images on it?

it would suck if someone would just go to the authorities and say this cd that this guy gave me had child porn on it, look, arrest him. this can't just happen right? but with the kid emailing the prof does make him look guilty.

Bingo. I hear what your saying but if the CD was someone elses in no way shape or form would you make an attempt at retriving the disc, you would just go into defense mode.

I came too late to read his myspace comments. Dammit, John Locke. Reading your philosophies on private ownership and the nature of conflict has cost me dearly. What did his comments say before he deleted them?
