Thanks, just random then.
I saw 3 people banned in a thread earlier and only of of their avatars disappeared.

Another question for anyone, why does my neogaf tab never stop loading these days?
The little blue spinny thing keeps going round and round.

Gifs.

Is there a better alternative to Tile Creator for creating custom tiles in Windows 10? Not a big deal but it's jank with how it pops up for a bit before the linked application loads (usually with some error) and it's baffling that there seemingly is no official way to do it.

Guys I need some driving tips. Cant seem to get good timing on my turns. My left turns are narrow and right turns are wide.

Basically, for both turns, when do I slow down, start to turn and speed up? Do I hit the gas as I'm turning the wheel?

Umm, slow in fast out? LOL

That's kind of a weird question. I think even for regular driving the rule of thumb is brake in a straight line, start turning and coast to the apex, then slowly accelerate to cruising speed.

I guess my advice would be to practice in an empty parking lot. Work on turning into parking spaces and driving down the lanes. Look out for light poles.

I think if you're regularly missing turns, it's likely that you are beginning your turn too early to hit the proper angle. That's what I see a lot, especially when people take lefts too narrowly.

I see this every day. The red line started their left turn too early and came in narrow and clipped the oncoming lane to the left. You should make all of your turn inside the intersection like the green line did, not in the road space near the intersection like the red line did.

As far as the gas and brakes though, yeah, slow in and fast out. Slow down to the speed you will make the turn at, make the turn, and accelerate when your car is pointed in the direction you intend to go. It's not something you ever think about after you've driven for a while.

I have a question about repairing or patching cracks in headphone cables.

My wife has a pair of Bose earbuds and they still work fine but the rubber sleeve that the wires are in is broken in places, mainly in high bending areas like right where it meets the earpiece. I've used electrical tape to fix this in the past for my headphones and that was a huge mistake because over time the glue wears down and the tape unwinds leaving the wires all sticky.

Does anyone know of a really thin and flexible tape that could wrap nicely around thin wires or a non-tape solution that would work well?

Is there software I can download that would let me completely disable my laptop trackpad and buttons, like the mouse buttons on it?
Mine did come with driver software that provided it. Look for the downloads on the manufacturer's site.

Are you sure you'd need them at all and you can't just disable the pad with the corresponding function key?

Pretty much every laptop comes with a 'function' button, it's usually written in a different color (like blue), then pressing this button + the F buttons (F1 - F12) will give you different functions (duh), including disabling the trackpad.

I've spotted a (minor) bug on MobileGAF; how should I report it?

(Or is there an existing list of known bugs to avoid dupes?)

So I'm in work today and I spot two people speaking in sign language. That's fine.

But then I wonder, what if I had to go speak to the deaf person without knowing they were deaf? And then they start sign language to me? Presumably at this point I'd realize they were deaf.

Then what?

How do I tell him what I need to tell him? I can't sign language. I feel like it'd be really rude to pick up paper and start writing on it. It'd be even more rude to just walk away and then send an email instead.

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no experience in dealing with deaf people so this question will probably appear REALLY stupid to some

If you need to communicate then I don't see how it's rude to use written language. Sign language is difficult to learn and it is not international.

So, dumb question that maybe others have had happen.

I noticed last week that on phone's Facebook app would show me a notification or a status update with the click to read more option. If I tap the notification or click that read more link, nothing happens. The notification shows that I have read/looked at it, but otherwise does nothing.

The only fix I've found is to reboot my phone. clearing the app's cache doesnt work.

Any ideas?

Writing something on paper wouldn't be rude, deaf people can usually read lips pretty well too.

The RMS Titanic was built in Liverpool. After completion, it was moved to Southampton, where it embarked on its fateful maiden voyage...but wouldn't the maiden voyage be when it was moved from Liverpool to Southampton?

A voyage is more of a long journey by sea, going from Liverpool to Southampton was more of a short journey/trip. Plus, I could be wrong, it wasn't carrying fare paying passengers.

I... I need to get some air.

I Decided to dismantle my entire room setup and start from scratch as I do every 9 months or so, when I saw something silver quickly get away form under my bed. then a minute later I saw it again...

So I grabbed the first spray thing I had and a shoe, wasp spray and a converse, ready to act at next sight. I saw what now due to movement and shit was a silverfish, sprayed to stun, and whacked as hard as I could. Only, then did I lift my shoe, and found its tail. And then its legs, and then its everything else. Not only had I killed the silverfish, but apparently I killed a Mediterranean gecko. I've only seen them IRL a handful of times, and I killed the silverfish, and an innocent little lizard. Knowing that they are insectivores, the poor thing must have been trying to get it for me, insteadI killed them both. This is like the first time I accidentally kill the wrong thing. I feel awful. What the fuck do I do now? I can't really do anything. I killed the wrong one.

It was built in Belfast. (Liverpool was its registered home port, but it was not built there).

The trip from Belfast to Southampton wasn't its first outing - it had sea trials first - and the trip from Belfast to Southampton was just getting it from the sea trials to the point of embarcation for the voyage.

All you can do is learn from it.

I think there's a feature in Windows 10 where you only need to hover over a program to be able to use the scroll wheel without the need to click the program first. Can I do this in Windows 7 Enterprise too somehow?

Hey guys. I'm a new member, though I've been lurking the gaming board for a while.

I'm wondering, how the hell do you guys keep track of discussions when the site doesn't notify you when you're quoted or not? I understood that these notifications don't exist because it would be too much of a strain on the servers. Thing is, sometimes threads grow so fast that I don't see how to keep track other than going page by page and searching the profile name to know if there's a quote or not. But that feels really cumbersome.

Read the whole thread starting from the unread posts.
Or search for your username.

Been using a little utility called WizMouse for years - should do what you are asking for.

Do you say thank you after a CS person solves your problem via email? I'm mean specifically situations where the problem is clearly solved and there is nothing to clarify. I try to be as nice as possible when working with CS people since it's a terribly draining job and they're rarely at fault but with emails it feels off since it's an asynchronous conversation. Not that it's somehow less deserving of trivially saying thanks but while I haven't actually had to a CS job that involved just going through a ton of emails, I know that I get annoyed when the emails I receive from whatever aren't pertinent. It's not a undertaking to flip through emails, I'm just wondering if it's valued or just another email to go through.

If someone helped you out it's nice to thank them. Usually when I deal with a really friendly customer service person on the phone I tell them to send me one of those customer satisfaction emails so that I can leave them positive feedback.

Stuff like that actually gets you stuff in a lot of situations. I was on an intercontinental flight a few years ago and the guy in the seat next to me called the flight attendant over about halfway into the flight to say that the flight crew was doing a great job. They brought him a customer satisfaction card and he wrote a nice note and then they brought him (and me) drinks and hors d'oeuvres from first class for the rest of the flight.

Having a customer-facing job is really stressful, and people who go out of their way to be nice stick out.

I have to review one of my colleagues in work. I've had a lot of positive things to say about him, but the trouble is, I can't think of anything negative. This man is confident, positive, dependable, produces excellent work, communicates very well, co-operative, supportive and works well both on his own and in a team.

He's pretty much perfect. But I need to find something negative. GAF, if you've ever reviewed a colleague, are there any little things that I might not have thought of?

Why the need?
