In the US, why isn't tax included in the sticker price?
Cause different US states (sometimes even different parts within a state?) got different tax rates.

wait, I dunno either.
Pretty sure it cannot.
Yes, it can be set down to the city level. There are also conditions under which tax might not be applied like tax-free weekends.
It sounds like a factor of menu costs. It costs a lot to update prices at different stores with different tax rates at the same firm. Consumer friendly legislation might help in this aspect.

I think your country's tax code is dumb, but I appreciate the answers!
Sounds like 4chan.Also, where did the whole "Virgin until 30 = wizard" come from? It seems to crop up everywhere, but I can't find a source.
So I was watching TV yesterday as a thunderstorm rolled in. At one point I heard an incredibly loud lightning strike just down the street from me.
Since that point, my TV no longer works. It just makes a near continuos clicking sound like it's turning off and on, but no images appear and the screen doesn't appear to be on.
Can a power surge affect a TV if the lightning strike didn't hit our house? Nothing else plugged into that power strip appears to be affected.
Have you tried unplugging your TV from the power strip for a few seconds and then plugging it back in? I have a nine-year-old plasma that occasionally fails to show a picture onscreen, and that's always worked for me.
anyone know where this gif is from?

Used google image search and found a link to this forum.

It seems to be an adjusted gif of St Vincent (the artist). She's a great singer.
Anyone? What's the name of the logical fallacy where subject A claims B cannot criticize C because B is not even remotely adept at what C does?
E.g. "Lol at people criticizing the Olympic gymnastics team for not getting gold when they don't even climb the stairs".
Is there a thread for help with photoshop? I have zero game in that area but have what I think would be a fairly simple job. Just want to change this image's text to The Culture Vulture. I know creating a thread would be backfire city so if anyone knows where it's appropriate to ask or can hook me up I would be grateful.

Anyone?
where an assertion is deemed true because of the position or authority of the person asserting it.
Actually not as simple as you're thinking. The image needs to be separated from the radial lines/gradient in the background. It's not easy to clone that with no artifacts. Then you rearrange the letters and recreate the background.
Another approach is lifting another part of the bg and managing to rotate/nudge it to the exact right place.
That said, I could do it in like half an hour. Unfortunately, I won't have a computer until Monday that I could do it on.
Guys i need some help. Im switching out my HDD in my laptop for one with more space. I believe i got the right replacement drive,I just need to know how to backup windows 10 or whatever i need to do so that when I replace the drive and boot er up Ill have windows still. I dont believe my laptop came with a windows 10 installation disk either but Ill double check when i get home. Is there some kind or windows recovery already in windows 10? Also I already have the files I want saved on an external storage so no need to back anything up. Just want a fresh install with more drive space. Thanks.

Check that page, download the tool and follow the directions to either burn a DVD or make a bootable USB drive. When you install your new hard drive you'll have to install Windows as normal with that, and then can copy your files back over from your external hard drive.
Probably a good idea to copy your Windows cd-key down just in case. I think all that is tied to e-mail now but better safe than sorry.
My girlfriend uses Her.ie but as you can tell it's Irish and a lot of it is focused on Irish stuff. So my wife is asking what is a good website for her to get "nerdy girl news and info without all the fuckery of tumblr or redit?"
I had no real answer for her. 😔
Bit of a silly question. My wife's leg has been injured so she can't walk the dog in the morning for a while. Would it be cruel to wake her up at like 6am(she usually gets woke at 8am)to get a walk into her before we go to work? Only twice a week but looking for any advice
I should clarify that the 6am walk would only be twice a week. She does get walked more than that ha

Please clarify whether "her" refers to wife or to dog. Kind of fundamental info that.
I'm not a dog owner, but I can't imagine that it would be harmful for a dog to wake up early occasionally. If she's tired then she can get back to sleep after the walk.
Like Archnemesis said, she's a dog. She'll wake up at 3 in the morning if she has to. She'll be just fine, provided that she isn't a very old dog

Let's say I have a Swedish cell phone and number, Country code is +46. If I use that phone with same number in Denmark, would it say +46 or Denmark's +45 when I call back home to Sweden? And what about dialing TO the phone from outside Denmark?
What about if I call Sweden with a Swedish phone from Denmark, would it say +45 on the other person's display? You need to add +46 in front of any number you're calling to when in Denmark (if you haven't added it already) or else it won't work. Any calls from Sweden to your phone will still work.

No.Do militaries around the globe look at wars and opponents competitively?

These anti-drunk driving ad campaigns are not going to work. People are still going to drink and drive no matter what.
Rebuttal
Complete eradication of drunk driving is not the expected outcome. The goal is reduction.
ThanksIs there a name for a logical fallacy whereby somebody attempts to refute someone's statement that a problem exists by saying that they should essentially shut up if they don't have a solution to that problem? (Like a "what are you going to do about it?" sort of thing.)
Edit: To the above: The Sun is about 109 times larger than Earth by diameter. Looking at that picture, the Earth in the main part is around 14-16 pixels wide, and the Sun would probably be most of my 1920 monitor if I imagined the other parts, so it's pretty close. If anything the Earth might be one or two pixels too small.
