I have a question too, I imported a Vita game with FedEx, it's the first time I'm importing with them so I don't know much about how they work and maybe someone can help me out. When I checked the tracking yesterday it still wasn't in my country but it had a delivery date of 20.3.13 shown though when I checked it today it showed me that it arrived in my country but the delivery date is gone :/ Does that mean it's stuck in customs or is it on track for the last shown delivery date? Thanks for any help, I'm just confused :(

I can't find the science questions and answers thread, but:

How long do metabolic enzymes typically last in the body? Once an enzyme is produced, is it "used up" after it works it's magic one time, or does it function continually, causing the same reaction over and over?

If the answers to these questions differ drastically depending on the enzyme, then how about 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA lyase, or 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase?
It functions continually. They catalyse a reaction and move on to the next.

I don't know any numbers for an enzyme lifespan but I doubt there is a "typical".

Is this for a school project?
3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A lyase (HL, E.C. 4.1.3.4) has a unique dual localization in both mitochondria and peroxisomes. Mitochondrial HL (~31.0 kDa) catalyzes the last step of ketogenesis; the function of peroxisomal HL (~33.5 kDa) is unknown. On density gradient fractionation, normal human lymphoblasts contain both peroxisomal and mitochondrial HL whereas in lymphoblasts from a patient with Zellweger syndrome, in which functional peroxisomes are absent, only the mitochondrial HL isoform was present. To study the kinetics of the dual targeting of HL, we performed pulse-chase experiments in normal and Zellweger cells. Pulse-chase studies revealed a biphasic curve for processing of the HL precursor. The first phase, with a calculated half-life of ~3 h in both normal and Zellweger fibroblasts and lymphoblasts and in HepG2 cells, presumably reflects mitochondrial import and processing of the precursor; the second (t1/2, 12–19 h) is present only in normal cells and presumably represents the half-life of peroxisomal HL. The half-life of mature mitochondrial HL was 14 to 19 h in both normal and Zellweger cells. Studies of the HMG-CoA lyase precursor in isolated rat mitochondria showed a rate of processing ~2.6-fold lower than that of the ornithine transcarbamylase precursor.

can you buy a prepaid phone and use it as a postpaid phone with a regular monthly bill?

my friend's friend needs a regular dumbphone and it looks like prepaid phones are the cheapest. he still wants to have a monthly bill though. does it just need to be unlocked/compatible with the carrier?

Yep, I have a pre-paid T-Mobile and I just set it up to auto-pay every month. Don't know what would happen if I go over on minutes and incur extra cost, but for all intents and purposes it's like a post-paid plan.

I got my phone unlocked, so I could do a not-available-in-stores deal and get a less-available model, but I'm pretty sure you could go in to a shop directly and work from there.

I'm honestly not sure, but I think so. Like Hop, I have a prepaid T-Mobile plan on auto-pay, but I think it's possible to set the phone up with a regular contract plan as well. I think my phone might be compatible with AT&T or Straight Talk as well with the right SIM card, but I'm not sure about that.

Is there a program out there (or even in windows itself) that allows you to lock out say a folder and have it unlock on a certain date? So basically I can't go into the folder, or access it until a certain date arrives?

I feel like I need some advice. I have just been offered a job, but it is door to door sales and commission only. I would only need to get 3 sales a day to make it minimum wage and could be potentially earning a lot more depending on how good I am. Another factor is that they are offering me management training so I would only be doing the door to door sales for a few months.

Are you good at sales? Are you interested in sales work?

Is it an actual sales job and not cutco or something?

I live in the UK, I used to work in Game and really enjoyed sales, but I just thought I should consult GAF incase I am getting conned into a pyramid scheme lol

Well, googling the name of the company and "pyramid scheme" is a good way to find out. :P

The wording you used in your first post did kind of sound MLM-ish, which is why I asked if it was something like cutco. But can't really draw conclusions just from that.

You can make WAY more than that in door to door. I once shadowed someone to see if I would like it. I remember her saying $58 per sale. The day I followed her she got 5 sales and said it was a little better than average. I'm sure you could tag along for a day to see if you would like it....

I shadowed someone today, but the pay just seems a bit too good to be true lol. It would be £17.50 per sale and on average I would be expected to make 5 sales. It would be almost 2k a month. I am moving out in June and won't need to pay much rent anyway, but I still don't wanna get suckered into anything dodgy.

I got a sore throat when I woke up today and I think it's gonna turn into a cold..anything I can do to prevent it from progressing worse?

Recently bought a used ipod touch and wanted to sync my icloud account with it again.

I signed in with my icloud account, backed up the storage// my question is, how do I view all my old photos?

Not really, but you can ease the symptoms by resting, keeping hydrated and taking an aspirin. Most of the common house cures for colds doesn't work although there was recently a study praising the effect of garlic.

Try it out. I wouldn't get too committed to it though. From my experience most direct marketing organizations are a bit dodgy...

This has been driving me nuts.

I have a vague memory of a certain type of town or village and I can't remember what they're called. It's usually a small cluster of little houses and I think it's, like, Scandinavian or something. I also feel like they're usually in snowy areas. What the hell are these called? Just villages or something more specific?

Hamlet?

Obviously I was a bit off in my memory. Sheesh.

Maybe you were getting the word confused with a chalet? They could seem similar if your memory is fuzzy.

Are the facebook comments under an article (on a separate website, not facebook) a selected few from a wider discussion or all there is? A few times recently I read comments that sounded like they were replying to nonexistent comments, I thought maybe they were missing...

I don't use facebook btw.

I'm on verizon. I recently got my first smart phone. I planned on using my iPhone as I did with my iPod touch. I have had my iPhone since last Sunday. I have 2 GB as my data plan. Now, last night I got a text saying I have used 50%. So, what do most people on Verizon have as there data? Is 2 GB even sufficient? I was planning on playing games on it but I don't know if I can.

I have 3 hard drives I have to completely destroy before I take it to the dump. What is a good, common way to do this?

Please only ways a normal person could do it in their homes. No "put it in sulfuric acid" or something like that.

Thanks guys.

Break/Bend the PATA/SATA pins/slots and it you have a torx screwdriver open up the drive. You can also beat the shit out of the drive with a hammer or anything else that is heavy enough.

Sorry for asking the question in this thread as it's Gaming related but I have no idea where the thread over there is.

My question is, I recently just bought a DSi game on my Aqua Blue 3DS. Whenever I launch it, I get a white screen, and then it turns black. I can still press the home button to get out of it and I can still press the power button to turn it off. Is there anyway to fix this? I am able to play all my other Digital Download games like Kirby Adventure 3D and Link's Awakening but this DSi Game isn't working.

Thanks for your time guys.

Is it from the same region? DSi games are region-locked. Regular DS games are region-free. (I have no idea how accounts and regions work on the eShop)

Downloaded it digitally on the eShop, it's Magical Whip for DSi, it loads it up, I see a white screen, and then it turns black and I don't see or hear anything, but I can still push the Home button and the Power button. I also checked again by downloading a 3DS demo, and it works fine.

I'm getting ads on GAF from Amazon for the exact items that I looked at on Amazon the day before. How is this possible? And does it mean that my privacy is somehow being violated?

Google shouldn't be able to look at my Amazon cookies. That's just creepy.
It is unnerving, I'm sure Google don't actually do that, the ad space is sold by Google, but it probably pings Amazon directly. I'm pretty sure you can disable it on Amazon's site, they have lots of information about 'interest-based ads'.

I'm trying to download koush's ClockworkMod Recovery from here for my S3. When I download it from the page it downloads as a .img file. I have MagicISO and POWERISO and neither of them will open it. Saying it's unsupported when it should be. What am I doing wrong?

Have you read the instructions? It is pretty clear that you are not supposed to mount the file.

Are there any free month subscription offers out there for Hulu as opposed to the regular free week offer? I know they have them every once in a while.

Alright I need gaf help with this one.

I`m modifying my shed to become my motorcycles new home, I was just planning to put a sliding/barn type door on it. But I got to thinking... I want to put super fancy overly designed stupidly complicated door. Something that slides up in sections or folds into itself.

Does anybody have any websites or examples of some doors that are neat just for the sake of being neat?

I was thinking of Majoring in Political Science, but I hear there are no jobs in it. Is this true? I don't have the time or money to get a master's or doctors degree or go to law school, I'd just have my undergraduate Bachelor's degree. I can't teach, but my professor did say I could work for a think tank or a non profit group.

The first time I asked her she said there aren't a lot of jobs right out of college with an undergraduate degree in political science since it's not as marketable as nursing or accounting. She later said it's the skills I learn like how to write well, critical thinking and how to function in the real world accompanying the degree that will land me a job.

This is my sophomore year of college and it's almost over, and I register for classes soon, so I have to choose a major and I am really passionate about Political Science but why spend all this time and money on a degree that has no jobs in it? I know it seems like a stupid question but that's what this thread is for, right?

So if I major in Political Science and maybe minor in history, Public Law and Government, Public Administration, International Affairs, Non Profit Management or something like that, is there any chance I could get a decent job somewhere?

In a spreadsheet, you have rows and columns. Imagine that you added a third dimension to the spreadsheet; what would you call the field variable of that third dimension?
