Hopefully someone here is familiar with DCP (Digital Cinema Package) creation...

I was given a movie on Blu-ray that a client would like to be converted into a DCP for playback on a 4K projector. The problem I'm having is that the # of frames for the picture .MXF is 141,094 and the number of frames for my 5.1 audio .MXF is 21,984. My question would be, how in the world can I get the # of frames to match? They need to be equal in order to create the DCP. I'm using OpenDCP to make it. Trying to anyway :/

I've done it before with other files, some match and some don't. It's annoying and I have idea what the inconsistency between source files could be that would be giving me these discrepancies.

I just read that Microsoft will be offering Windows 8 Upgrades for just $39.99. Since I own a Vista (32 bit, Business I think) one, will it allow me to update straight to 8? If so, will it go straight to 64-bit? Running the Vista OS on Parallels on Mac OS X so I wonder if that will have any issues either.

You can't go straight from 32 to 64 bit. You would have to clean install.

Alright, a few weeks ago there was this video posted on Reddit of this guy going to a farm and making turkey noises after which all of the turkeys copied him. For the life of me I can't find the video! Does anyone know which one I'm talking about?

Why is HD rental on Amazon only available on select devices but not on your computer? What the fuck difference does it make to them?

My Ping is an unacceptable 300-400 ms. If I increase the download speed through my internet provider does that also lower my ping? For example, would going from 3 Mbps to 18 Mbps, would that make the ping better or would it stay the same?

You mean for gaming?

Question for ComicsGAF: I recall that the Ultimates had a prisoner in a glass cage dressed as Spider-Man that they called "The Spider." Apparently he talked a security guard into attempting suicide in 4 words, so there was some sort of Hannibal Lecter thing going on.

What was the deal with that guy? Was he ever explained, or did he just get forgotten about?

Do all TV's with USB ports play video files?
No and even those that do don't support all codecs/containers. Read the technical specifications first. Also if you don't mind spending some extra dough consider getting a small pc (ZBox maybe) with XBMC on it for playing video on your tv.

Yes as ping is a measure of how long it takes for a message to get from your computer to another and back again.

However as you might have guessed this means that your download-speed isn't the only factor contributing to the high ping but also your router, your upload-speed and the up/download-speed of your target. Thus it's hard to say how much influence upping your download-speed will have.

Though 3Mbps is disgustingly slow (even 3G is able to top that in the right circumstances) so I would up it to 18Mbps atleast anyway. It might not improve the ping as much as you like, but it makes everything else better.

Thanks for the suggestion but I was just looking for a cheap TV to watch while I'm on a treadmill. I didn't much to spend much at all. I'm looking at a IncrediSonic media player that seems to be what I'm looking for.

If you don't already have a TV where your treadmill is then is a "cheap" tablet like the Nexus 7 maybe not an option? Find a way to mount it on your treadmill and presto.

Well your ping is not an absolute measurement. Instead it's measured according to the server you're connecting to. For example, if you're playing a game and you join a server based in Australia but you are in the United States, a 400ms ping would be pretty par for the course (maybe even low...). But if you're connecting to a server two states away from you in the US one would expect a <100ms ping.

UK Gaf - is 'pudding' synonymous with 'dessert' or do a lot of people in the UK literally eat pudding?

Pudding is often used to mean the same as dessert ie 'What is for pudding?' but in my experience dessert is far far more commonly used. As far as I know we most commonly have pudding at Christmas, the rest of the year its not common bar maybe spotted dick.

my landlord put my name AND my old roommates name on the security deposit check we got back.

I didn't even know you could put two names on a check. Does this mean my old roommate also has to sign it also? My name is first on the check and I told them to make the check out to me.

I had the exact same thig happen to me. you guys have to go to the bank together to cash it.

my question is how do you edit your tag below your user name? is it related to how long you've been a member?

Can't make a thread unfortunately so hope people who have played the Splinter Cell games see this message. And those who have played the HD trilogy.

Are they as hard as I've seen people say?

Also, Eurogamer said this in their review of the first:

In an era of hints, waypoints and mini-maps, it's weirdly exciting to play a game that shoves you into a huge, intricate series of levels armed with almost no information to orient yourself. The genius of Splinter Cell, in fact, is how little it gives you to work with throughout the campaign.

Is this the same in all of the games?

And was the quick save function in the original games, or something in just the HD trilogy?

Thanks.

I actually tried a tablet and it just wasn't loud enough. I was able to get a CRT TV from my dad and set it up so that will work. Now I just need to find a low priced pair of speakers that sound good cranked all the way up.

I bite my nails like it's going out of style. Did anyone quit this shitty, disgusting habit? I do it when I'm not even aware of it. Advice?

I just got strict with my self and just stopped.

I'm sure you can get a type of gel to put on your nails that tastes bad, then I guess you loose the urge.

I'm trying to make an MP3 file into a ringtone for my phone.

It fits all of the requirements except that it has to be LESS than 40 seconds, and this music file is exactly 40 seconds.

What kind of program do I need to edit the file and cut off 1 second of time??

Audacity

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Just select, trim/delete, and save in Audacity.

You can do it in iTunes as well.

Change your import settings for CDs to be whatever file your phone requires (MP3) and then click "get info" on the song in iTunes, go to "other" in the tabs and change the start and stop times to whatever you want. Click OK, and then right click the song again in iTunes and choose "create mp3 version." Then right click the new one in iTunes and choose "Show in Windows Explorer" to find the file and move it to where you want.

I hate her persona. I can't hate her as a person.

Nicki Minaj is the persona. Onika Tanya Maraj is the person.

This is about mobile gaf:

I use dolphin as my main but recently it 404 on this site.

Thing is my chrome beta works fine!

Is it something to do with Dolphin supporting flash while chrome beta doesn't?

In the north yes, not so much in the south, where the French spread their wiley ways.

Indeed but if you want to be strictly correct, pudding should only be used when it actually is a pudding e.g. Christmas pudding, spotted dick etc.

This is according to my partner who is a restaurateur, amongst many other things, so he should hopefully know what he's talking about! :)

The rubber on the cord of my MacBook's MagSafe power adapter recently wore away and tore open, sort of like this, but I don't have an Apple Store nearby to replace it with my warranty.

I do however have a Staples Business Depot in my town which is an authorized Apple reseller. Would they recognize my Apple Care warranty and replace my cord?

Probably. Call them and you'll know for certain. But if they don't and it's just the rubber but the power adapter itself still works, why not put some tape over it and be done with it?

I plan to do that first thing in the morning, just wanted to satisfy my curiousity in the meantime. And I did apply some electric tape, but the slight burning smell doesn't bode well.

I've got a T-Mobile Prism, but I can't set my desired wallpaper to display correctly no matter what size i save it as before I transfer it over. It always wants to crop out the middle of the picture for the background, and I want to use the entire picture. Is there a trick to getting around this?

My wireless network has stopped working. The wired connection is fine but neither my phone nor my laptop can find the wireless signal. Checked the router (linksys wrt54gl) settings and it claims it's broadcasting, so not sure what the problem is. It was working fine before I went on holiday, not sure what's changed. Any advice?

Just to make sure, you unplugged or shut everything down (modem, router, computer) and restarted them one at a time? I know that may seem like it wouldn't help since your phone also can't see it either, but stranger things have fixed network problems. Otherwise, reset the router settings, or do a hard reset, which should be an easy task. Also possible that it's just dead.

Edit: If you Google your issue, a bunch of results from Cisco's website comes up. It sounds like it's flaky. I saw someone say they fixed it by changing the wireless channel.

Keep your nails cut and filed so there's nothing to bite.
