Stupid Questions |OT| of questions that don't deserve their own threads

What's a good program for recording parts of my screen for windows. I've got CamStudio which is almost perfect, but if I make a video of more than 10 minutes, it usually ends up corrupted and unreadable.
 
There were two bathing/showering threads on GAF. One about giving up soap and shampoo and another about taking cold showers. I've given up soap and shampoo for the past 2-3 months and I've been taking cold showers for the past month. I'm thinking about walking up to random girls in bars, asking them how I smell, and recording their answers as favorable, unfavorable and indifferent on a Google docs spreadsheet. I've thought about categorizing the women I ask but I don't know if I want to do it by ethnicity or hotness. Maybe both.

Now I've asked a few people how I smell already, namely my mom, some friends and a girl I fucked on Sunday and they were all surprised when I told them I hadn't used soap and shampoo in 2 months.

Anyone think this is an endeavor worth pursuing?
 
Although I'd be really interested in the results, you seem like a cool guy so I'm going to say no, that's not a good idea. Not unless you're going to move cities soon and not go back there. Don't go around telling people this. If they find out, cool, but don't go around announcing it or taking polls on your smell.

Have an odd problem in Vista..

speakers work fine, sound scheme looks normal, laptop plays the windows theeme when it starts..but all other sounds don't work...

I just need my laptop to beep when the battery is low but I can't get it to work.

When I click on "test sound" nothing happens..

any ideas?

As I said, speakers and drivers work fine!

Oh btw..I just realized recently that when you press ctrl+b it automatically bolds the highlighted text..does anyone know what I have to press to spoiler-tag that way?

Right click on the volume icon in the notification tray and select "output devices" (or something like that [currently on linux]). Make sure the default device is set to speakers. Vista had a weird bug with HDMI out which would cause sound to be rerouted to the HDMI even though nothing was connected.

How old are you? If you're in your early 20's say its a social psychology experiment.

awesome! It wasn't exactly that, but right clicking opened a menu in which "windows sounds" was set on mute.

Upper 20s but I'm Asian. I've looked the same minus weight fluctuations for the past 10 years.

I did think about approaching girls with the preface of an experiment. And I wasn't going to hit up every bar in LA. Just something to do when I am in a bar with friends and I feel like flying solo into a pack of girls. If it works, I get instant kino from a bunch of girls sniffing all up on me.
 
Does anybody know where that thread of tattoos went? Did a search and couldn't find the one I wanted. This guy had a badass tattoo of a ship on the water with seagulls and I really wanted to see the artwork to use it for an idea for my own tat.

How do I download an amazon instant video rental to my panasonic bluray player? I have the player registered but when I go to the drop down of available devices to dl my rental to on amazon.com the only thing that shows up in my list of registered devices is my pc.

Best answer I found for this was it is OK to leave it out for 10-15 minutes, but not OK to leave overnight and not OK to nuke it. I'll give that a try.
 
Do you think if humanity started interacting with multitudes of other alien species (think Citadel in Mass Effect) that humanity would be united and racism would disappear and we'd move on to specie-ism?

If the aliens didn't just wipe us out, they would probably exploit our divisions to get the resources they wanted with minimal effort (ie have a few cooperating humans control the rest of us). It could have already happened.

Of course there would be speciesism, which can only help racism. It's like uniting against a common enemy. ...We're just not a very nice species.

Does anyone recommend getting rid of cable in place on an Apple TV? My dad wants to cut back on monthly costs, and it is just important to us that the on demand service is as good as regular TV. Dexter and Breaking bad are essential.

I, personally, would take this like out:

"I've never sold a computer before, and don't really know what I'm doing"

you kinda don't want to tell people that you have no idea what you're doing. Just say "Contact me with any questions" or something like that

just watched an episode of prison break where a fucking animal vet reattaches one in like 5 hours by himself in his clinic

At least it becomes apparent in subsequent episodes that the quality of the job matched the effort put into it.

Sure there would be some unification of humanity, but the two don't have to be mutually exclusive. Maybe someone who isn't racist could be xenophobic/"specist"(speciest? hm), but someone who is already racist would probably just be that much more discriminatory towards an alien species than the average person.

I wouldn't recommend using Apple TV/iTunes exclusively. But a combo of that, Netflix and Hulu would cover an awful lot of bases. The big things you would miss out on is sporting broadcasts and premium channels like HBO.

Because of the heat? The do have an awful lot of fur! I did voluntary work with a dog sanctuary for awhile and we got a lot of huskies in. Gorgeous dogs but a right handful! Need lots of exercise and cope very badly with being left alone. If you do decide it's okay to go ahead, I wish you well with him/her :).

Do Americans really not usually have electric kettles in their kitchens? This seems insane to me, its probably one of the most fundamental things I'd expect in a kitchen here.
