Subway station gets flooded in NYC

If it's staged, that's some brilliant acting. Those guys deserve an award.
I mean, there's a camera conveniently recording the entire scene...

Also, I immediately recognized that something was off with his uniform (real MTA vests have more orange on them - I see MTA workers every day lol), as well as the fact that he's mopping a busy walkway with zero "wet floor" signs.

As for the 'homeless' dude, yeah I'm not sure. He had to sit on that dirty subway floor and get his soles that filthy..... :\

Oh, you're just speculating? OK. Yeah, I don't know.

It's not out the ordinary for people to be recording all kinds of shit, though, and the homeless guy was likely up to something before the person started recording.

I can understand the skepticism. But it’s obvious you don’t live in New York.

Fake news should be a bannable offense

Cretinously credulous
Used to happen in my city until they stopped fooling around and built proper storm drain reservoirs to hold storm water and then release it slowly.

The problem is cities don’t allow soil to soak storm water and during severe storms the water gets into the sewer and overflows back up the surface.

The book 'The world without us' has a whole chapter dedicated to NY and how the city being built changed the landscape (it traces the changes right from 1700s till now), and especially discusses in detail how much effort it takes for the subway to not be flooded even on normal days and the impact of the city on drainage etc.
Then it focuses on what will happen if humans suddenly disappeared. Very fascinating stuff.

I does sound very fascinating indeed!

Where does the money go?

If it's just that staircase, then why wouldn't she go to another entrance? There are at least 2 for every station.

Also, where the fuck is that water pooling if the trains are still running through the station properly? I assume there's a ramp leading upwards from the turnstile.

Never saw anything like that in my 2 years in Brooklyn, but I also stayed in Flatbush, and hardly ever went into Manhattan. By far, my biggest gripe with the NYC subway was the weekend schedule. They cut the frequency of the lines drastically, under the guise of "maintenance". Bullshit, you're just cutting costs. My travel time would almost double on weekends, mostly due to waiting longer for trains to arrive. Fucking horrible. Almost defeats the purpose of a mass transit system if it's only an efficient form of travel 5 days of the week.
