Suicide Squad Official Trailer Drop

Despite not really feeling Deadshot, Harley, or the Joker I'm liking the rest of it. It appears I can get behind DC's approach to everything as long is it isn't Superman.

The trailer is pretty mediocre, which means the movie is probably going to be a lot of fun.

I have this rule: The better the trailer, the worse the movie tends to be, the worse the trailer, the better the movie tends to be. It's not a 100% ironclad rule, but with Hollywood, I've discovered that it's pretty accurate the vast majority of the time.

I'm totally down with Leto's Joker though. He comes off wonderfully unhinged in the bit we see, and Leto has the skills to pull this off ( I have a grudging love/hate for the man. he's so damn good at everything! GRAGH!). I haven't been impressed with live action DC (with The Flash being the only, amazing exception), but this movie has me very interested.

I'm in love!

DC has gone full on sex object for Harley Quinn for awhile now. Don't expect any deep character moments from her since she's mainly there for adolescents to jerk it to.

Not that that can't work in the context of the movie. I think her character will be fun and exuberant but mostly a one note character that's constantly being sexualized.

I suppose you're right. I'm not a fan of the over sexualization of her character though, it hasn't served to do much to add to the strong points that were already there. Obviously the actress is beautiful, but there's a lot more to the character than sex appeal. The dynamic of how she can be an unstable ally depending on how reasonable she is at a certain point in time is what makes her interesting to me.

How does it work in the comics? Do characters like The Joker and Harley Quinn really work as anti-heroes?

Harley can be. Away from Joker's influence she can be deprogrammed to a degree to be a lot more reasonable. She is still unstable, but you have to remember at one point she was a psychologist, so there is a lucid side.

Oh wow. I'm finally into this one now. Feels unique, tonally, and I like the Batman & Superman mentions.

This is precisely why I'm into this movie. I don't actually know much at all about any of these characters, outside of Joker and Harle of course(film/tv/reading about them), but this just looks fresh to me, coming off so many of those damn MCU films.

This trailer really sells the whole seedy underbelly, grimy and dark street level criminal world of the DC verse in a way no other Batman movie ever did.

I think having this feel more like a movie set within a world of superheroes, rather than be a superhero movie itself is kinda genius, The amount of world building this achieves in regards to establishing a cinematic universe in just a single film is brilliant.

Strangely getting Blade 1 vibes off the semi-neon tone

Kinda reminds me of Gun Loco, a canceled Square Enix game "in which muscular men in rabbit helmets and other deranged psychopaths charge at each other while firing guns in order to escape a prison planet."

I don't like him in the trailer either. It seems like they turned him into a random psycho, like last time.

If the movie has a tone similar to this, it won't be good.

Joker has never been 'random.' He's just aware that he's fictional and everyone else in that universe is fictional, so to that end he might as well be whatever the times ask him to be.

Hmm who's he with showing him around?
So The Joker is in this, not Batman vs Superman? Or will he be in both?

Sorry, I can't keep up with all the somewhat-related superhero movies in development.

Rumor from that latinoreview site a while ago was that he makes a cameo in a flashback scene in BvS killing Robin, flashback sparked by Affleck looking at his costume, this was posted while they were filming together, so it wasn't made based off the new trailer.

I'm sold on Harley and Joker but not really a fan of the rest of the cast or the trailer so far. Came off a bit too safe despite the premise not really pointing that to be the case.

Hopefully WB gets with the times next year. If they're afraid of general audiences taking a look at footage that is just too early, they're just gonna have to prepare themselves better.

This looks great though, not sure why they wanted to keep it comic-con only. That shit really needs to stop.
