I was initially interested in this show because of Cute and strange headless chickens in the preview trailer, but I am glad that it has lived up to its promises so far. Favorite new anime of the season for sure.
I thought Symphogear was okay but the art and animation quality was all over the place. That scene's quality is so poorly obvious. I saw quite a few people who didn't seem to normally care about animation even commenting on it. Hopefully it was fixed for the Bluray. Apparently there was a ton of fixes/changes.
That one girls English is really bad too. I don't want say the seiyuu's name as it might be a spoiler but it was really hard to tell what she was saying half the time.
Yeah, even Cosmicblizzard mentioned it caught his attention when he usually doesn't care about most animation issues. I think it'll end up being pretty average in the end but the early episodes are just trying.
This just keeps getting better, so much so I'm glad I stuck with it. Even the CG mecha looked like they were animated better and with greater care (even if nothing else did.) Top Gun has some self-loathing to work out too. :lol Maybe the quality will keep going up until the end.
To be fair, my impressions for most of the Oshii stuff I watched were rather light aside from Patlabor. Of course that was partly because I didn't think I could do them justice.
I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but wouldn't it be amazing if Femmeworth actually posted impressions about shows and didn't hate everything?
My yuri power is strong enough for it to actually be visible. You see a trail of yellow roses behind me wherever I go. I try to contain it, but its always a losing battle.
Compared to other shows on Nick like Spongebob or Fairly Odd Parents its crap, its not comparable against a ton of Disney shows, its not comparable against Batman TAS or even Justice League and it is certainly no My Little Pony.
Avatar is overrated because its a generic shounen in an artistic medium that thankfully did not have many generic shounens before this.
How is it a generic shounen? the dialogue and humor is a step-up from most shounens in terms of quality. It's definitely lacking in terms of direction compared to say something like FMA though.
I hate you people. Avatar was trash. Never in my life have I watched anything as painfully dull (the filler in this show is beyond awful) with insufferable characters and a overly simplified storyline that is just completely dull. The voice acting in this show is some of the worst I've ever listened to in any show.
This is one of the most offensive shows I've ever watched. It's a show where a lot of thought, eforrt and work were placed into a show that was so painstakingly mediocre. I will never ever understand why people think of this as something better than your average shounen series. It was the American equivalent of Naruto. It's certainly not even close to being the best American cartoon ever, or the best American action cartoon.
I would have rather rewatched Ro-Kyu-Bu three times then have to put up with those 60 episodes of Avatar.

This post deserves more hate. Avatar's animation was pretty fluid throughout and it's certainly not generic with the cultural influences. I do have issues with the show, Turtle ex Machina, but generic is not a word to describe Avatar.
Count me among one of those people. It ended a bit abruptly for my tastes, but the series was a delightful slice of life. I haven't started the second season though...
So good, I encourage fellow fans of historical period pieceanime to hop in. Civil war, political intrigue, and so much awesome samurai action. We don't get shows quite like this anymore.

What do you mean? Since Top Gun's arrival into the anime, Muv Luv has gone from being at rock bottom awful, to quickly becoming really enjoyable. He's really a great character that makes the episodes all the more entertaining and compelling.
I really liked Ghost in the Shell, Innocence to a lesser extent. I've only watched the first Patlabor film, which didn't fix all my of issues with the OVA. I don't know if I'm going to jump into Beautiful Dreamer yet without having at least watched part of Oshii's portion of Urusei Yatsura.
Daria 1-3 (to lazy to put up the "original" japanese title) - Show is pretty damn good so far, I watched bits and pieces of it back when I was a kid, and it's even better than I remembered, plus to a extent I appreciate it a lot more now that I'm older. The dialogue is so good. Can't wait to watch more of it in the coming weeks.
PS. This show has has one awesome OP. La-la-la-la.

Oniisama e was before yuri was an allowable subject to begin with, but the author was a woman and the audience was female. Marimite also has the same audience considerations.

1. Great Personality? Yeah, just hope you aren't Japanese or you don't get any respect.
2. Motive? What motives?
3. Skill? He had trouble controlling his mech the ENTIRE episode and had to be bailed out by the others.
Maybe if you looked passed the fact that he has a penis you would notice these things too?
Personally, I love doing that. It feels good when you're familiar with someone and you recognize them after only one spoken word when watching a show you haven't seen before.
For the really prominent seiyuu at the moment like Kana Hanazawa or Rie Kugimiya all I need is a simple laugh and I know it's them. The crossover fan art stuff is fun to see too.
I know a lot of people say their eyes glaze over during staff talk but I love that stuff too. Finding similarities between different shows by the same director even, like Penguindrum and Utena. An example maybe being
how the Double H PSA's in Penguindrum reminded me of the shadow girl skits in Utena.
Remember that if you're not feeling it at first, give it time.
Does it have a slow pace or something? I never really found Angel's Egg that boring. The only scene I felt maybe went on for a bit too long was the one still shot where
the guy sits by the girls bed waiting for her to go asleep and it just stays as that still shot for literally 2 or 3 minutes.

Yeah, I thought the action overall was really good and I personally liked the music. It had some interesting ideas like the freeze frame displaying the attack name was kind of different.
Overall though I probably thought it was average as well. Didn't love it but didn't hate it. I don't mind minimalistic designs if they are used in an interesting manner but the designs of the noise creatures didn't really do anything for me.
My favorite scene is probably at the end of episode 12 I think it is. You'll probably know it when you get there. It really gets you pumped up. Aoi Yuuki can really belt out a line if she wants to.
