What I can't get over is the ridiculous body proportions for the main females.
With breasts that big and a chest that small, how does she not snap in half?
body proportions are one thing I definitely find wrong with One Piece, and particularly the character designs themselves.
Personally, I think the character designs in One Piece
in general are great; Oda has a real flair for designing creative and interesting-looking characters that are aesthetically appealing in their own unique ways and always well-distinguished from each other.
That said, females have always been his weakness. At the beginning of the series, his main issue was that he simply didn't get creative with his female character designs as he did with the male characters. They didn't look
bad, they just all looked very...similar. He's clearly worked on this as the series progressed, and he now has a much bigger variety of female character designs than he used to (though they still pale in comparison to his creativity with male characters).
Unfortunately, as Oda's female character designs have become more creative, their proportions have also become more awkward. I remember back at the beginning of the series, Nami's body looked normal, healthy and really quite nice. These days, her chest is giant and her waist is minuscule, and the same goes for most other female characters in the series. This trend is obvious in both the anime and the manga, and I think it's just an unfortunate aspect of how Oda's art style has developed.
