Fantasista Doll Episode 2: Did I even watch the first episode of this? Anyway, pretty bog standard magical girl stuff mixed in with some high school or middle school slice of life antics. The gimmick here is a combination of cards and smartphone apps.
I would put it behind Illusion Girl but ahead of Fate/Iilya for the season. Just interested enough to watch further episodes. I would also still willingly watch this ahead of Blood Lad or Highschool DxD New. Those shows need less horrible people.

It's a Spy!

So Cure Ace is going to be the drill instructor mentor of the group. OK, I don't know how I'd take a forth grader yelling at them seriously, but OK. All honestly, this episode was kinda depressing and actually kinda boring. I don't know if its my mood right now or what.

But anyway, Sebastian is the best character, and looks like he might be featured a bit next episode! Hurray!

Stop teasing Pink's skirt. Also bail amount based on weight. Poor fat kid.

Despite Pink's resolve to bail her buds out of prison in a tearful display of all of her decos, all she got was a Bitch please. Amazing.

Pink's skirt shall be unearthed!

Okay, I've got to know what the hell the context is for that screenshot, because it's hilarious.

Makopi's quitting the idol business, so Mana thought it was a good idea to put on a mask of the Princess to try to talk her out of quitting. Needless to say, it failed for several reasons.

It isn't the problem that people don't like Shaft or Monogatari but that the same people repeat the same discussions.

As long as there are people that love things, there will be others to say that everything they love is a terrible lie. The best course of action is to ignore those people and secretly curse them. Wait, no, I mean rationally explain your side and try to understand their position. While cursing them. Silently.

If MAL ever catches wind of this everyone in this thread is doomed.

What would you say is their best work?
I don't have a complete familiarity of their work, but of what I have seen Soredemo.

I don't find the visual style itself unappealing but the execution so far for Monogatari S2 has been excruciatingly lazy to the point of insulting. Like, they literally hang on this still repeatedly. They come back to it because it is so deep and meaningful and they want to make sure the viewer understood everything though I'm sure. I'm also sure they copy and paste the cardboard tiger cutout because they want to give the viewer the best experience possible. And this boring fucking framing that allows them to cheaply animate most of the episode is super brilliant and engaging, so much so that I cannot even count the number of times it was used.

Gotcha, thanks. I love how she bothered to tape two extra pieces of paper on the bottom of the mask to emulate hair curls.

There were Rikka NTR tears, so I'm satisfied. Also pleasing: Meguca basically telling everyone that they fucking suck and that her authority is inviolate because she saved their incompetent asses. Any character immune to Mana's bullshit is a good character.

However,

next week is going to be the BEST EPISODE IN THE HISTORY OF THE FRANCHISE AND RETROACTIVELY JUSTIFY ALL OF MY SUFFERING. The concept is so inherently amazing that not even Toei can fuck this up, and I am the last person on the planet who would normally make such a claim.

Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Ilya 01:

What's sad is that the most engaging character in the story is the fucking stick.

Also, so many fucking lewd shots, fucking hell!
Which means it'll sell tons.

What the hell is that? Power Ranger Kamen Rider Batman with a mustache?
Alice's butler Sebastian transforming into what is basically Cure Batman. You won't be seeing him in any future All Stars movies, but he rocks. One of the best non-magical world allies (actually, the only one) they have, and he's also Batman.

It hasn't set my world on fire visually yet (except for the shower scenes...I believe that's where their animation focus was) but it hasn't yet sunk to a point where I'm worried about it. Reusing assets is pretty standard practice (although I'd obviously rather they didn't) and they've used that framing before to show how pitiable Senjougahara's current living conditions are.

I do hope they step up their game though.

I have learned that the answer to this question is NOOOOOOOO.

Well besides Ilya's face being a little weird and that she was basically naked for half the episode, it wasn't bad. Decent amount of energy mostly from the stick and I am looking forward to seeing how the cards work. This could be a fun magical girl show drowning in Fate references.

Sailor Mercury 8
Oh Usagi, you're so dumb. Everyone knows how to use computers to an extent!

Keep in mind when this was made. XD The 90s musicals even had a song which said knowing English (beyond basic loan words) and how to use computers made you an elite.

Mercury's stock footage is shorter than Sailor Moons, she's very considerate to her viewers, even giving us a near underskirt (which we already've seen based on Moon's stock footage).
Just to make sure, though you might be joking, you know they're wearing leotards, right? There are no actual panty shots when they're transformed.

Because that's what the franchise is. It's like filming a bunch of teenagers talking about school life and stuff and then getting sidetracked by the holes in their socks. Or maybe not because that would actually be more interesting than anything in the entire Monogatari franchise.
That would be like me saying that One Piece would be much more interesting if the characters didn't spend all that time punching each other though.

Eh, I'm assuming they're just going to power up the rest of the characters and it's Batman's turn.

I will say though, it doesn't really make sense why the villains would essentially go out of their way to attack Precures when they're about to give up. It's like they don't understand the concept of the power up arc or something! :p

Just talking can be good, like that one segment of Panty & Stocking. The dialogue in Monogatari is just so banal in every way that its popularity is baffling to me. I can usually see the appeal in things I dislike, but that's a mystery to me. The schizophrenic direction doesn't really make things more interesting either.

Thing with pornomonogatari is that it always takes 5 hrs for the characters to say something simple. At the very least there's pantsu during these frequent, inane segments.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes - 110 (FINALE): The End of The Dream

~ The legend ends, and history begins. ~

And so the book closes, in a matter most reminiscent of Greek tragedy. No fanfare, no long speeches filled with bravura, a sacrifice so dry and uncompassionate it barely registers as an event, merely the denouement of a tale that has unfolded over the military careers of two young men in which neither truly got what he desired. I could see some might find this kind of ending anticlimactic, maybe even boring, but I loved it. It truly gave the feeling of a giant passing away in slumber.
The only thing which would have made it better for me, was an epilogue, a look into the future that Reinhard and Yang had crafted. Hildegard's regency, the young Kaiser Alexander, the continued support of the High Admiralty, the new republic Heinessen, Attenborough in parliament, Julian's wedding and life... But those aren't tales part of this legend.
Lastly, von Oberstein's death saddens me. Von Oberstein was a character that grew on me tremendously. I didn't trust this traitor, and I disliked his meddling in Reinhard's affairs, especially concerning Kircheis' position in the Fleet. But throughout the series, he proved a loyal and highly skilled servant, who was willing to attract all negativity and hatred towards his position, in order to let the Kaiser shine more. And, he had a dog he clearly loved. That's a bonus point for me.

Thoughts on the series:

I'm not good at writing analytical paragraphs, so I'm just gonna write my simple thoughts on each element of the show.

- The story was of a grand scope, rich in imagination and mature in its execution. The slow pacing is often derided, but fitted me perfectly. At some point, around season 2, the pacing and the developments of the storyline became so well crafted, I nearly got addicted to the show. It just got better and better each episode. Although this crescendo wasn't maintained, overall watching one or two episodes LoGH was a highlight of the day. It felt like reading a good book, just before going to bed.

- I feel very confident putting this work of art (because this show definitely is art, irregardless for the contempt one might have for works of animation) in the small list of transcendent masterpieces. If I were to compare it to a similar work in other media, I am leaning towards Tolstoy's War and Peace (which, I wonder, might have formed some inspiration for the original author of LoGH?) and the Wagnerian opera's (which share the same grandiose cadre).

- LoGH's combination of starfleet battles (sometimes incredibly tense), diplomatic maneuvering and political one-upmanship proved infectious. As someone who is in love with grand strategy games (unfortunately without much skill), LoGH suited my interests in that regard completely. What is most surprising is the amount of humor it contains, mostly of the cynical variety. Yang's crew especially had these in large amounts, with the constant bickering between Poplan, Attenborough and Schenkopf taking most of the stage. There were some funny moments too, like von Eisenach speaking and Reinhard's enormeous flower bouquet and even larger blushes.

- The characters were incredible. Not everyone got to share the same amount of attention, but throughout the show you really start to like and get familiar with these men and women of war. Mittermeyer, von Oberstein, Bucock, von Bittenfeld, von Reuental, Poplan, Cazellnu, etcetera, etcetera, these are names I don't think I will ever forget. I personally am partial towards the Imperial High Admiralty, who functioned as some kind of legendary Crown Council filled with the most competent men available, a pool of resources any monarch would dream. On the other hand, the trio of Poplan-Attenborough-von Schenkopf gave this show much of its spirit and light-hearted tones. But both crews will stay with me for a long time.

- The music, well, what's to say about the music? An amazing collection of classical music, and it all fitted the show beautifully. Not to be elitist, but classical music has this grace other genres find hard to approximate, and it was an excellent cadre for this show. The opening bars of Mahler's Third Symphony specifically will always be connected with LoGH for me.

- The artwork is harsh and uninviting, and probably is its toughest component for modern viewers. Luckily, I have no eye for the graphical arts, and I felt it was at least very functional. I did enjoy the lavish Renaissance themes for the Empire. Neo-Prussia? A weird thing about the art is how it manages to embed its own charm. I'm sure others can explain this better, but to me, it clicked and 'felt' right once I got over the age it showed.

- Lastly, the dialogue was amazing. Each episode I tried to pick one line that best represented the matter and insights at hand, and sometimes it was difficult choosing between several quips. Yang Wenli, specifically, was the leader in this department. Great writing there.

And that's the end of an amazing, months-long journey. It's not always easy for me to write down my thoughts on art work, mostly because I am more emotive than thoughtful while enjoying it, but it was fun to write this little logbook. I hope everyone enjoyed reading them. I was very wary to avoid spoilers in the quotes and the images (I think), so I hope others might feel inspired to pick this show up.

I specifically forbade myself from marathoning portions of this show, just so I could absorb the emotional tension more, and I'm glad I did so. I would advise everyone to watch this show at their leisure.

This show gets, what else, a rating of 10/10. It joins a couple of other anime, but in honesty surpasses those. It's really quite unique.

Prosit!

And now I feel the hole one gets after finishing a marvelous novel.

That's the thing, you might find it banal, but I find it almost lyrical. In the same way that as much as I think Aaron Sorkin has been revealed to be a shitty hack, I still do enjoy listening to his dialogue. The dialog is probably the one good thing about -monogatari anyway.

Fantastic anime with a great conclusion for this part. The game taking up nearly 16 or so episodes was well worth it as it gave tons of development to each character and allowed their individual personalities and character, both antagonists and protagonists, a great chance to shine. I think its definitely in my top three for sports series and one that I would want to go and experience more of the anime of and the manga eventually. It was just really well done and pretty amazing.
The closeness of the game, the changing conditions of the terrain making for logical mishaps that affected both teams, and a few minor details made the outcome difficult to predict and expect. I was half thinking that the game would be called because of the rain or something, or that Mihashi would break down and switch off, but thankfully he's super selfish and has a huge support group around him.

Best 5: Tajima, Kanou, Mihashi, Mizutani, Aba...with Haruna growing on me from that special
New appreciation for him with how they handled that backstory there in the OVA and how he seemingly is presented as being rough and too serious about things to being just earnest in what he wants to trying to make up for how he was wrongly treated in the past. He's a good inspiration to everyone on his team, and although he has that 80 pitch thing, it makes sense. Best of luck to him
.

Dont think there was anything wrong with the anime that I can even think of, maybe if it had more handholding and clarification of the fouls (it seemed like you can get infinite number of them and no consequence).

Best family.

Yep, really well episode introducing each member of the family. Really made me warm up to the entire family over the course of the episode.
