Madoka Magica rewatch
I decided to watch this with a friend ( his first time watching it) this afternoon. I skipped around a lot, but overall it was still enjoyable. It also reminds why Wixoss was kind of lacking to me. Ignoring Madoka's ending, Wixoss just copied the general set-up without making good characters to fill its cracks. Madoka was a terrible character but the rest of the cast fills the niches the show tries to portray and wrecks them appropriately. Madoka was also better at teasing the plot points that made me appreciate them while rewatching them.

Hard to compare stories when WIXOSS is only half done (at least), but I can confidently say that the pacing in Madoka is much more my style. WIXOSS is much more of a walking-paced brooding show compared to Madoka where once it reaches a certain early point, it's a mad dash to the finish. Madoka already exposed everyone to the "girls enter a contract with a dark twist" conceit, so the impact also just wasn't there in WIXOSS when they do their "reveal". I really enjoyed the WIXOSS finale though, and I'm fairly excited for part 2.

Yeah I just saw one of the scenes that was mentioned. This isn't bad at all and it's just them talking in the baths, no other shots or anything.

I re-watch Madoka every once in a while and still stands as one of my top three shows of the past few years, probably (I don't really make lists).

It is hard to compare but I enjoyed the characters in Madoka more than I did Wixoss even at Madoka's halfway point. Akira and Iona weren't good antagonist and Hitoe and Yuzuki were kind of annoying and pretty one-note.

also I noticed one thing, she says (13:55) "why does my heart beat so fast when I see him iyaaa" with a different voice because she was thinking it and not actually saying it. but that "thoughts voice" is actually decent, couldn't they fucking use the same voice for all of her dialogues.

I dunno... I think the illusion breaks when her voice breaks either way. lol

They really cannot win. Either get roundly criticised for recasting by one group, or hear complaints from people who only know the dub.

They recast everyone else. I would understand if they brought back as much of the gang they could... but why only keep her and no one else?

I fully understand everyone has different buying habits. I buy the series I want to support, and hope the series I stream help warrant a future physical release. I too don't often watch some series more than once after purchasing them, but what can you do owning 44 anime series along with 65 anime OSTs listen to and 100+ individual manga and LN volumes to read.

I have something like 400 series on disc and while its a pain in the ass to keep up with in terms of space, it is rather enjoyable to collect.

It's safe to say it's kinda ugly and likely to stay that way.

honestly the original series was pretty ugly until well into the later seasons.

My brother told me this movie was good the other day and I totally didn't believe him. Didn't help that he said it was the only Transformers movie he saw, so there was no point of comparison lol

There's no Shia in this movie right? That would make me more receptive to it (Nothing against the actor really, but the cast of human characters were painful).

Thankfully. It has Mark Wahlberg. I like Mark in movies. Much better than stupid Shia. This movie had lesz of Michael bays stupid one liners and more fun robots breaking stuff.

...It's two chapters in two episodes.

The original series took half a dozen episodes for Ami to even show up. This show has her transforming already.

Anyone find it amusing in Barakamon - 03 that the villagers were talking with such thick accents the show had Japanese subs for the Japanese viewers so that they could understand?

I love it. Hearing regional accents makes me a happy man; it gives a bit of added color to the proceedings.

Skipping Barakamon just because of her (who is a minor character) would be a regrettable mistake. You should definitely still check it out.

But I agree with you. I actually don't like her very much and I didn't enjoy her parts of episode 3, whereas I've adored pretty much every other part of every episode thus far.

• Wish the framerate wasn't so jank. Some cuts look so smooth only to be followed by somethign that feels like I'm playing Crysis on an old computer.
• Some of the character designs didn't translate too well like the old protestor. The bear gets a pass for being a bear.
• Goofy animeisms like the MC in interrogation or his Lupin-esque fall into the rice bin were far more distracting than endearing.
• OP mentions the title in the song so it passes one step of the Jexhius Quality Anime Test.

A friend of mine told me that SAO still fucking didn't get to the scene I've been waiting for and that Kirito barely enters the game at the end of episode 3 so I said fuck it and am not watching it until episode 4 is out as well.

This arc is short, but I guess they're gonna milk the fuck out of it to get 12 episodes or so for this arc.

I never watched or read it, but I somehow came across some anime blog that talked about the ending of the manga so I was spoiled. Knowing what happens makes me kinda apprehensive about checking out the anime, though everyone says it's good T_T

One day I'll just suck it up and watch it.

Manga goes much further. Youll get a lot of enjoyment from the anime as it doesnt go "there" and just focuses on him taking care of Rin.

I wouldn't recommend it, no. Although I have been eating, sleeping, and breathing it for the past couple days. Played for 18 hours straight when the beta first opened.

Well the MC is like in his twenties, like 23. So he isn't old. And I believe there are more characters to be introduced. So we will just have to wait.

I was impatient with really good series so I bought them as they released. For less important ones I did wait for a full series release but even back then the full set cost 100-150$ kids these days dont know how good theyve got it lol.
