The animation may not be top-notch, but as the show goes on, I find myself enjoying it. Not just for the Toqger jokes in my head, but because it feels kinda fresh. There's some light romantic comedy elements and some light fanservice elements, but in every episode so far - even the last one - it feels like the train security plot still takes center stage, and is treated with some degree of care. In both the previews and the show itself, I can see the love of trains. Plus cop shows aren't super common in anime, and while they aren't cops by trade, the feel is very similar. Mixing and remixing genres into something that can take the best elements of both - isn't that one of anime's strengths?

Aoi's learning how to shoot things in ways that aren't purely for hurting people, and the bonding the two of them had was kinda sweet. Getting a look at Naoto's life, he is the kind of person that would have a ton of model trains. I stand by what I said earlier that the show could use a lot more Haruka. She's the secondary heroine, she needs to increase her screen presence.

It does have a new director and a new studio, but it's also got some heart, from where I'm standing. It's delivering on everything it promised.

...People were hyped for it?
I went in blind wholly expecting a show about trains and expecting to learn something. Needless to say I'm slightly disappointed that it isn't that, but it's still fun nonetheless.

These stylish transitions honestly look great and more than likely will continue to, but the placement of some were just weird. Like this one

At this point, Hiro's subplot is more interesting than anything else than this show has to offer. This should've been what this show was about. He's trying so hard to not only not get caught, but trying to win her over as well.

[Log Horizon - Complete Series Review]

You know what, screw it, I can't write a Log Horizon review without the Database Opening. It's not really indicative of the tone or nature of the show at all and I don't even think it's a good song but it's just so damn catchy:

Database is a terrible song. Database is the greatest song ever written. Woah oh oh ooooh.

...

Sorry, don't know what came over me. Your feelings definitely mirror mine when I watched the show last year. The economics, politics, and mechanics of the world are really well-developed, and the show's focus on them makes it both unique and really entertaining. I loved some of the clever implementations of game systems, like how they took into account the fact that an MMO has short day/night cycles.

I really hope this show did well enough out here to give a chance at the LNs being brought over. Aside from the nice backgrounds (and Database), most of the strength of the show was in the writing so the LNs would probably be a lot of fun to read.

Seriously though, I still have all the English lyrics to Database memorized.

Well I was interested because I was curious about the lack of train anime given Japans relationship to rail. I'm still getting interesting rail tidbits, but this could easily be a police academy/beat cop show.

I wouldn't say I was hyped though, but then I cant think of the last time I was. I guess Log Horizon. It tends to be mostly with anime where I already love the source material.

Batman-niisama killed all the bad chinese mafia guys from the top of a tower a mile away by turning them into spirit flames. Just because he was mad. Also danced with every girl just cause he is that awesome.

So I guess this next Mahouka arc is all about wizard clan politics. Book readers where does that fit into the books? How far along are we?

Aria: The Natural 7

Very, very slow-paced, yet atmospheric episode. Mostly consisting of Akari and Aika trying to follow President Aria to wherever he's going, but being stuck in some loop through the old, abandoned parts of Neo-Venezia. It was nice for Akari to get even a glimpse of the cat meeting after going around like that.

Chibi Ran and Lum are totes adorbs. Poor Ran though, always getting shafted by Lum's shenanigans.

Barakamon 5

Wait, Hiro's around the same age as Handa? I thought he was in high school.

Anyway, fairly standard Barakamon episode. Some good laughs, some sweet moments, but I feel like I don't have too much to say overall. They sure went all the way with that sea slug though. Also, I'm sure Handa now has permanent brain damage.

New folks next time though!

Oh man, those blatantly ripped-from-Star-Wars sound effects. I hope Disney sues the crap out of them.

So get this, Gun Gale Online has this minigame that NO ONE HAS EVER BEATEN BEFORE. I'm sure you all know where this is going. Kirito has magical dodge abilities and can use the light saber that no one else can, because he's just that good. Also, he's girl now too. Is there anything he can't do?

Revealing his true identity and getting the classic face slap. Kirito beats his first opponent quite quickly through the power of super hearing he now has. Also, funny that they are sort of trying to make the viewer think Death Gun is Sinon. It's sort of stupid to bring up that death clan or whatever it was from the first arc though.

See I liked the return of Laughing Coffin. I guess any attempt at rehabilitating those guys is unlikely to work.

The Death Gun - Sinon link is weird though. The audience has seen Sinon in action separately from Death Gun so unless she has Death Gun as an alt I see no reason why they think that.

Space Dandy 18

Dandy's pomp was going nuts this episode.

Nice episode, lots of scenery porn. Liked the animation style.

Next episode looks pretty good.

Space Dandy S2 E5

Really boring episode, honestly probably the worst of both seasons combined. It had some pretty animation at times... but that's it. Just a really boring episode that went nowhere, had no jokes at all, had a bland story, and just meh

Space Dandy 18:
Nice and relaxing. I really loved the animation for this episode. It had a very simple look, but it was really distinctive, and it was nice to see in motion. The episode was a pretty enjoyable and relaxing way to spend half an hour, even if the writing wasn't particularly strong.

Awesome episode about fish tales. It was a lot more subdued than the other episodes, but beautiful, and fun.

Also plenty of manservice lol

And that art holy fuuuuuuuck

Everyone is saying the scenery was good. I didn't see (I was able to hear it though) much of it because I was busy. I guess I'll watch the sub version when it comes out.

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even insist
Then suggest incest
Unexpectedly

Just a little change
To laws of society
Both just want to fuck
A disgusting feast
