I don't really have a problem calling MHA the current best ongoing shounen.

One Piece fans about to rip me a new one doe

oh no it definitely is.

Well Hunter x Hunter is back for a bit so that is, but once it's gone in a month MHA is back on top.

The ultimate question of where MHA stands vs things like One Piece, Hiatus x Hiatus, Bleach, Naruto, etc will be determined once MHA has been ongoing for several years. Will it fall law to the shounen rule of one actual shitty arc?

Had some expectations from the description and the episode did not disappoint. Sucyworld is wild, there were so many references in this one, the Akira one was surprising. Also I really liked the movie theater scene with the old-timey animated recollection of Akko's antics which even she got a laugh out of and the stylized meeting of her and Sucy. And the voice acting been really on point.

From the really heavy first OP to this quasi romantic OP... It's certainly different haha.

Not much to go on with this episode, Azazel has been completely shafted in this series, so of glad though, never did like him.

In 1991, Japan as a whole went into complete economic meltdown whose damage is still present today.

Coincidentally, this was also the year when Godzilla vs King Ghidorah released and had them destroy the main tax building in Shinjuku. Audience in Japan are said to have cheered when that happened.

I like the intern-pro hero pairings, particularly interested in Jeanist and Bakugo haha.

Todoroki and Endeavour should be interesting as well, let's see who teaches who about being a Hero.

I've heard people shit on the Villain invasion arc at the end of season 1 enough to be convinced that it might already have one albeit I personally don't think it's all bad.

I think it's easy to overstate MHA as the best shonen from fans who are emotionally invested in the story and characters - myself included even if not explicitly. On the flip side, these praises are easy to identify, you really need to look for more nuanced praise towards the show (like this one for instance) for a better perspective.

I mean this kind of goes for every anime...

Uh, but that's a good arc? As far as I remember the complaints were mostly against the botched art in the anime compared to the manga. And probably some flashback overuse in the anime.

Like,

It's definitely important to distinguish between the two, as there's some stuff the manga achieved that the anime didn't quite live up to.

Great first episode, there's a clear attempt to push everyone on a character development and/or career front. Aoba has a chance at becoming the character designer straight up and Nene's starting off as a programmer secretly.

Yun ironically had some complicated feelings about her situation comparing herself with Aoba and Hifumi. That was interesting and surprising.

More over it's revealing Shirobako-esque proverbial dialogue about work and specifics about the role.

Like,

The criticism was on how the events folded out with students having a clear advantage over the villains despite being their very first encounter and the encounter itself being premature at that point of the story.

(re-)Watching all the Death Note movies because fuck it's been a while. They're still great, I don't think I ever saw anything past the first two ones so I'm looking forward to do that also!

Order after 1 and 2 would be:
L: Change The World
Light up the new World

?

Where would this "New Generation" and/or new TV series fit in?

Man, they changed the metal af OP with something out o Eurovision...

In any case, good episode. Nina is a bliss. I liked how she had to inform every single person that she's back home. lol

I don't follow the LA series but according to wikipedia the New Generation stuff falls between the second film/L and Light up the new world.

Great episode seeing Deku think of a different approach to using his quirk and getting a glimpse of all the others. I really like the new opening, replayed it a bit and the new ED is neat too, they used the designs that are from one of the manga's polls. Seeing these next episodes adapted about to be dope. Also the preview bit with Deku and Shigaraki was just great lol as well as them re-showing when Deku first arrived at the house.

RE:Creators Episode 14

New OP and ED are really awesome. Though some of the character sheets in the ED, some of them arent in the anime??? Unless I need to take many closer looks.

I enjoyed the whole behind the scenes stuff with the anime planning scenarios and event planning as well as the coordination with doing the crossover, I didnt ever thing it would be so hard with all agreeing to the plots and at least trying to go to the edge of canon as possible.

Damn that new ending is already awesome, like it alot better than the opening song.
Good first ep back, looking forward to learning more about All Might from Gran Torino.

Hitorijime my Hero Episode 1

I liked settie before he went blond, but I do like his high school look, actually all of them too. Kensuke and Hasekura have a fun relationship too just because of how he keeps running from him while hasekura keeps seeming to think everything kensuke does is cute, I can easily see like their scenes the most. Plus Kensuke has Matsuouka-san voice, instant win.

Was disappointed only the girls dressed festive...but the animators didnt forget and gave us Ren and Akira in the extra stuff. Lovely.

Typical festive episode with the main girl breaking her sandal and needing to be carried.

not sure how the current stuff in either compares as I haven't read either for like a year.

MHA S2 14

It had a break for two weeks and now it has to remind us the name and the quirk of each character.

With a new season of shows starting, I am sure they are just giving a nod to new viewers that might jump in midway while checking out other new shows

to be fair MHA also has a large cast that is hard to keep track of so there are plenty of characters that a refresher can be good for.

I haven't seen the episode to see if it covers a lot of the lesser characters or only the main characters which are pretty easy to remember.

Like the new opening, though does sound at times a bit too close to the original but in some ways that's why I like it.

This is one of the few shows where I really don't mind watching characters stand around and talk.

ehh it's okay so far. Not familiar with the source material but hoping it doesn't fall down all the pitfalls that BL often tends to.

Solid opening and setup. Incredible background work, neat animation and lighting.

Yes, this show really hits the spot, production wise and I can't help but take a lot of screens hoping this gets more attention.

That's a very interesting chair arrangement, I'm genuinely jealous I didn't get such an arrangement in my school.

The world is made significantly interesting over the visuals, I get a lot of JRPG vibes out of it, very reminiscent of Etrian Odyssey games.

Riko's charm and energy relays well through reactions and character animation in general, it's fluid and dynamic sometimes took me in by surprise. They've really left no stone unturned on the way it looks and feels.

Ehh pretty boring episode. Wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the ones that I keep watching but I don't know why.
