Disgustingly well directed immoral filth that in years past Jexhius would have had to trick us into watching.

Kakegurui 2

Boring like the first episode. Except now it's worse because it shows how formulaic it is, following the same pattern episode 1 already used:
1. 'I ♥ gambling'.
2. Big bet.
3. Feigns innocence.
4. Opponent (of course the bad guys are the council members!) cheats in an uninteresting way like having cards marked beforehand with a visual or tactile marker.
5. MC is the perfect cheating/gambling machine and knew all along, she wins without effort.
6. Opponent is super surprised, cue faces of both players.

I dropped this show in 2015 after the first episode because I thought the whole show going to be a revenge porn types of anime. I came back to it after seeing so many good review, the show ended up being a lot more than what it made you believe.

I don't want to spoil anything, I just want to say it was a pleasure from start to finish. The show even has a real ending, so you don't have to wait 10 years to read the conclusion in VN or manga. What a rare gem, I regret ignoring it for so long.

Restaurant Isekai 01

Isekai is a fucking plague. Like this is 10% the interesting part and 90% isekai bullshit where you get a big explanation for THE DEMON GOD AND HIS KIDS and then nothing else zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Dungeon Meshi where?

The first episodes of this series always start with a sort of bang, and this one was no exception. I can already tell I'm gonna love this Sympho season like the previous ones.

Yup, it's way too formulaic and when you can say that after 2 episodes already...

There's basically no tension or fun mind games to be had. All the show has to offer are its reaction faces and honestly, I don't think they're that good and generally speaking the show's visually unappealing to begin with. In Shokugeki no Soma I found the cooking itself appealing. Then you've got the final presentation with a bunch of surprises and the foodgasms were just the cherry on top. Those were (sometimes) great because they weren't the focus.

These gambling matches meanwhile are shit. I mean, one person is cheating and the other is perfect :| All the while mr Bland is offering his dull narration.

The setting is also your typical trash. Instead of being even remotely grounded it's just the overly crazy high school where rich people and those with special powers mad gambling skills, or, apparently cheaters here, are in control of the school. Of course, the student council president and co. once again represent the elite. How that sort of school is supposed to be functioning doesn't matter.

But to me, everything is inherently vastly less interesting if absolutely nothing is anchored in reality. Crazy becomes the norm if everything's crazy.

Most of this was apparent by the trailers and I'm not surprised to drop this after 2 episodes. Certainly not my kind of show.

But guess what, they had Better Call Saul day and date with the US AMC airing, every week! This just shows that anime is bad tbh!

I really don't get Netflix's stance of not simulcasting anime outside Japan when they do it inside Japan and show other shows episodically. If they had a blanket ban I'd get it, But that's no longer true. It is better this way though in that I can write them off completely and save myself some money.

Jabami:
Also Jabami:

The show is formulaic and I agree with what is said above about the match essentially being uninteresting, as the cheating feels very tacked on, with zero foreshadowing. However, I think this is an enjoyable show. The intensity doesn't come from the match but from the over the top craziness of the show and Jabami's personality changes. It's just the second episode and they're already betting parts of the body, I'm looking forward to see the stakes as this continues, even if, so far, Jabami is a little too perfect. And, well, I love the crazy reactions faces.-

Woah people weren't joking, this recap episode was far better than it had any right to be (And also by extention one of the better episodes in the series haha) where is this Meteora in the actual series?

I have a feeling the joke ending the Re:Creators recap episode will ultimately be more satisfying than the real ending.

Dragon Ball Super 98

Man they actually are doing it. An entire universe, erased instantly. They didn't even die. They just got...unmade.

I actually felt pretty sorry for Universe 9, shitheel Kai and all. They weren't evil, they were just a bunch of idiots.

Probably because I'm not used to watching shows in French and can't gauge good voice acting in that language, but mother of God am I liking Wakfu more in English. So thank you people who crowdfunded the english dub lol. Tres bien.

dang, I thought the english dub for wakfu sucked ass but alright

glad to have more people watching and enjoying it either way

Princess Principal 01

Actually it's fine episode.

But still, it's written by Okouchi, who know will he start crazy again in few episodes later.
Also Actas is one of the studio doing this show, so let's pray they won't end up trolled 3hz like their "usual" anime this time lol.

ATOM The Beginning Episode 12 END

S2 when, though I was getting a little emotional seeing A106 there with cobwebs and such on him while they openly discussed the next model. It seemed he was beginning to feel stuff emotionally yet still trudged on.

Death Parade touched on themes that interest me but the first few episodes down right infuriated me. I was not a fan of its approach, it sort of acknowledged that towards the end and it helped that we get a better perspective of the world eventually but I'm still not entirely satisfied with it, perhaps it just left a bad after taste with the initial few episodes.

It really peaked in episode 8(?) with the whole detective and older brother arc. At that point it more or less acknowledged what infuriated me so much.

I think this is one of those situations where even a moderately decent dub in your own language Trumps another language you aren't familiar with voice acting.

With Anime I've at least grown to recognize some voices and I'm already used to watching content in Japanese with subs. But in French the only real voices I thought were great were the two ladies and Nox. The rest of the cast I could give or take.

The judgement is designed to be flaw, to be honest, the whole void/reincarnation thing might be meaningless. None of the character actually know what happen to the souls afterward, they are just being told that one goes to void and another to reincarnation.

For all we know the players could just be dolls with memories implanted in them. There are no souls in the dolls (or soul just doesn't exist), in the last episode we saw them creating Chiyuki's mom with just Chiyuki's memory.

The whole thing could just be a way for those immortal beings to kill times.

That was my first impression also, but the show does have overarching story and its main focus is more in character development than the judgement itself.

What a fun show. I binged it over two days. Has there been any word on a proper season 2 yet? I cant see anything about it.

Is... Is this the one that I like? Lol

I recall hearing that a proper season 2 is being made. That the one we have as season 2 was just more like filler episodes, but they also had elements that slightly advanced the plot.

Kareshi is garbage, way too formulaic to be interesting. Aho Girl, Ballroom, and Love & Lies are all worth a look imo.

I read a bit of tsureruze children. If each episode is going to last 12 minutes that might work out. Because the show is seriously like gets small glimpses of couples. You will grow to like certain couples and not give two fucks of other couples.

Fate/Apocrypha Episode 2:

This episode was basically an introduction to most of the players and the chess pieces of the game, not much more to say beyond that.

Yep, I came to an understanding by the end but I'm still pissed off at it because of how the first episode doesn't show a sign of hesitation over its judgement and remains under the impression that the viewer would be compelled by it. In hindsight the events themselves kind of make sense but it still rubs me off the wrong way because of the way it glorifies them.

Still a lot of talking, but the action scenes continue to be very nice. And Mordred is amazing. Best Saber.

ehh kind of cute but not entirely interesting. I usually need either more comedy or drama to spice up a slice of life show and this one doesn't seem to hit either one.

Exceedingly average production tbut watchable. Tone is similar to Flying Witch so feels like it fills that void left behind there with the slight addition of apparent criminal consequences for not following the rules of the world.

Wakfu: Noximilian the Watchmaker

First thing I noticed when I watched this is that the daughter and dog looked straight out of fucking Kaiba. Then when the adults appeared, it looked like something I've seen before in Yuasa. And lo and behold he is one of the main parties involved (mainly the character designer). As usual with works involving him, it has a very distinctive abstract look that you can't really find much of anywhere in animation outside of shorts. It looked gorgeous, I don't think the stills do it justice (as is usually the truth with his shows, look much better in motion). I particularly liked how
the cube
had this other wordly CG look compared to the rest of the show, nice touch.

As the title implies, this is a prequel tale of Nox, the tragic villain from the first season. It's a tale of him and his family and his first encounter with the
powerful cube from the show
. As everything Yuasa it has a tinge of weirdness to it. When he tries to cheer up his kids he has this abstract fucking puppet show that looked straight out of a russian opera lol.

The rest is fairly common tragic villain background.
He drives his family away due to his obsession and descent to lunacy, he gets more and more powerful as the cube drives him insane, and ultimately he learns of his family's death which is the final nail in the coffin as he turns into Nox the time mage and vows to capture Wakfu so he can go back in time and save his family
. It's nothing out of this world that you haven't seen a million times before if you've watched anything with a tragic villain, but it's infinitely elevated by the visuals. It did do something though: it really drove home that Nox isn't such a bad guy and having seen this, it really breaks your heart even further when (season 1 ending spoiler)
his plan to go back in time fails and he ultimately just gives up on life
.

I think this would work well as a stand-alone if you are curious enough to watch it if you are a fan of Yuasa. I know some in here recognize names more easily so if you are fans of Eunyuong Choi or Michio Mihara they were the lead director and animation director respectively. I'll give it an 8/10.

Also, yes the text at the top right bothered me too, but with the steam video player being the main way to watch this it's not possible to get it to disappear when you pause it.

In a vacuum, this was far better than episode 1. The pacing was good and the action was very cool. Even though the CG is usually very noticable, it's at least very good CGI, so I don't mind it that much, and the show can look really cool.

Now the problem is that this episode doesn't exist in a vacuum. This should have been episode 3 at the very earliest. Much tension falls flat, because frankly, why should I give a shit about any of those characters I don't even know the names of and spent no time with?
What's so amazing about what Ernesti is doing compared to the regular way? We haven't learned shit about the magic system.
There's lots of squandered potential here, but I guess I'll stick with it because mechs and good action (the sonudtrack is pretty good too), and the hope that they don't go shinkansen-speed again.

KiraKira Precure À La Mode 22

Remember when mid-season had some of the best fights? I miss those times. I think we should've gotten some of the sibling bonding earlier. Feels a bit hollow dumping everything here. So Pikario was training to become a Precure? Either go through with it or don't tease us Toei. For better or worse it doesn't look like he was brainwashed. We're still full steam ahead on the Whip Train. Ichika is being shilled hard by Kirarin. Now I'm annoyed by the shilling. Maybe Parfait will get things back on track?

I don't get why they wanted to rush through the early chapters of Knight's and Magic so badly that they would sacrifice character development and worldbuilding.

Lord, I would love for us to get the anime continued....I don't read manga, so I have no idea how things end. For all the crap Bleach gets, I genuinely felt like this last arc you're going through now was a big step up from the preceding one.
