Super Mario 3D World - Introduction video

Does anyone else get a SM64 vibe from this? I don't know if it's where they made the levels to just be more like ummm "video game levels" or something.. Or the way the wholesale is just always kind of alive doing it's own thing as opposed to more recent Marios where it focuses more on where you are.

Anyway, for me lots of throw backs to SM64. For a game everyone seemed to be moaning about it looks like Nintendo may have put together a really solid 3D Mario title.

Man, looks fantastic but I really hate cat Mario. :X

Still can't wait for it!

Also, the music in the video sounds really good and much better than the awful NSMB games.

WHAT?!! Sir, do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

1) Would you agree that Kibbles 'n Bits make a great afternoon snack?
2) Do you occasionally have an uncontrollable urge to pee on a fire hydrant?
3) Catching a frisbee in your mouth would be one hell of a trick, wouldn't it?

Did you answered "yes" or barked affirmatively to at least 2 of the 3 questions? If so, I think we've identified the root 'problem' here. ;p

Come on, someone HAS to take that gif and edit it so the dino says "All aboard the Hype Dino!". Please.

I guess putting in a redundant amount of power ups is supposed to hide the fact that some of these stages are way too bloated and emtpy for the sake of multiplayer. But then they could have at least used more interesting ones, the giant mushroom might just be the most useless powerup ever created (from one of the worst Mario titles to date). And there's only so many Martinet ,,meow''s left before I might just finally throw up.
Other than that it looks okay, but it's sad that a couple of good ideas are wasted in this underwhelming package that's restricted by the 3D Land groundwork. Not sure where the enthusiasm for such a rushjob comes from, maybe it's some kind of stockholm syndrome or everyone else has gone blind? I mean, even if one's too lazy to look up Dolphin material of Galaxy which completely destroys this joke of a game, even MK8 completely shits on this shiny version of 3D Land and pretty much shows the minimum effort of how Mario in HD should look like. Although it's a little irritating, some of the reception is certainly less surprising to me after last week, in which people gave way too much credit to the hacks at Gamefreak for doing baby steps in a series that still essentially plays like Gameboy titles and is a complete technical disaster compared to any other quality 3DS title - but some parts actually look a little different from the DS titles oh how ambitious!1 lol

Speaking of 3DS, I'm glad Nintendo has at least one decent system out which makes it easier to pretend this thing right here just doesn't exist. Considering how half assed it looks, that hopefully means the Tokyo team's putting all their effort into an ambitious and unique title like Galaxy/Jungle Beat next year.

Answer: people have different opinions. Now that you know that, you will be a happier person.

It's ok to not like things you know.

Is it me or is that the first time I've seen nintendo post a 1080p video of the game? Normally they do 720p videos. It looked amazing at 1080p.

WOW, I'm at work and I havent seen the video yet but those gifs are enough to make me drool.... It feels like instead of giving us just Galaxy 3, they blended it with more of classic super mario bros, added a ton of new stuff and 4p co op to deliver the ultimate Mario game. Couldn't want this game more.

I think it either means the camera is being or can be controlled at that particular point.

Probably the same as in Galaxy games, you can control the camera at that point.

I never noticed it in the Galaxy games! I recall there being a note in the tutorial but not after that.

Also, I don't know if I like how the coin counter, lives and score are on the screen at all times. I liked how clean the Galaxy games could look at times.

I would never own a pet and this has nothing to do with my preferences for any sort of animal. I just don't like the design. The "meow" sound effect is grating. :X

Also, running animations are kind of important to the feel of a game and I've never really liked when characters use four legs for a running animation (and that includes DKC). Really, though, it's that "meooooowww" sound. *shiver*

You're making him wait until christmas?

I know. I'm a tyrant.

Actually, he just got the new Pokemon game for no legitimate reason ("uhh... good grades... yeah...") so he's definitely waiting until Christmas for more gaming stuff. But you know, I usually take off work his entire winter break and I've been known to break down and give him a gift early during the break (much to his mother's chagrin), sooo...

I really want to watch it, but between the Nintendo Direct footage and the demo, I think that's enough coverage for me.

Hope I forget everything I've seen by the time the game comes out next month...

Loving everyone's reactions here though X D

Bayonetta 2
Mario Kart 8
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Zelda Wii U

That's just what we know of so far. The system will definitely have enough exclusives to be worth owning. It's just a matter of when you jump aboard really, not if.

Only a new Zelda really interests me there - and yeah if she's a gooden, Nintendo have my sword.

Every thread about this game hah...

Any chance for a Nintendo Wii U Super Mario 3D World bundle?

EAD has mastered the art of making videogames. Looks incredible in every aspect.
This! The thing about Nintendo, is that it's the same core group of people that have been making games together for the past 30 years. There's not many teams in the industry who stay together for that long and there's not many people who even stay in the games industry for that long. The wealth of knowledge and expertise that these guys have - when it comes to game design is second to none.

It's crazy how I've completely lost interest in next gen consoles and would rather have a wii u than anything else now. This looks incredible, and to me, looks way more impressive and appealing than the galaxy games (which were excellent). So good.

I'm not even gonna bother jumping on the next gen bandwagon until there's a killer app. I might wait out for a year or so until they iron out any possible bugs or hardware issues etc. I'm not gonna be a beta tester for new hardware.

Pure joy bottled up in that video. So fantastic

Its a smart move. The two best games this christmas will be on the WiiU and 3DS so why jump in early. I am but then again I have a sickness.
