Super Mario 3D World - Introduction video

I love the fact how even the world map seems explorable and featuring some simple platforming

platforming, platforming everywhere

Not sure I like the visual style of these levels, but the game as a whole looks good. No way in hell I'm watching this whole trailer though. No point, not when I'm already sold.

I agree about the art style on that level. Not quite sold. I did watch the video however. Apparently I'm not as good with going in blind with EAD Tokyo games as I thought. Just all around beautiful stuff.

It's crazy how I've completely lost interest in next gen consoles and would rather have a wii u than anything else now. This looks incredible, and to me, looks way more impressive and appealing than the galaxy games (which were excellent). So good.

I think the thing that particularly impressed me in the video was the way the camera reacted to the force of the canon shot and Mario's landing. It's the little things that get me.

ZOMG, floating platforms in a 3D platformer, what a travesty! :p

I like that you think Nintendo is out to impress you personally though. At least they seem to be doing a pretty good job impressing everyone else. Sucks for you I guess. Personally, I think I can put up with the occasional mega-mushroom amid a sea of interesting power-ups and mechanics. And who gives a shit whether you use a run button? It all depends on how the levels are designed. It's a staple of the 2D Mario games which generally feel great, and as long as the levels are designed around the convention it shouldn't be a big deal. I only hope you pick up momentum a little faster than in SM3DL.

They aim to impress me as they do with everybody else. And I give a shit about running buttons in 3D platformers as I don't like them. I prefer using the joestick to control the speed I use so I don't have to press to buttons at the same time to use momentum in my jumps.

It IS a next gen console.

And, surprise! Nintendo makes great software! That's never been the problem for ANY of their platforms.

Timelyt releases of said software. That's their problem (and why its tough maining just a Nintendo console for a whole generation).

Jesus why are you being so defensive, my post was mega positive. Why do people get so touchy about these next gen semantics, sure I'll agree with you it is a next gen console. When i wrote that i lost interest in next gen, i was referring to the upcoming ones anyway.
Also personally i think their first party software lineup is far weaker than previous consoles, until this came along. I literally want one just for this game and wind waker hd, no interest in another donkey kong (had my fill on the wii), smash bros (i have a 3ds), pikmin 3, etc. Even the gamecube had incredible timed third party exclusives like viewtiful joe (Game of forever), resident evil 4 etc. Only thing i may care for third party wise off the top of my head is wonderful 101 and maybe bayonetta 2.
Still, I'd be more than happy iust to buy a wii u for this game alone, the 3D mario games have never disappointed, even sunshine.

Damn this looks really good. I haven't played a Mario game since Galaxy because while fun, I found it a bit monotone and lacking in tension (because I got too good lol)

The multiplayer should spice things up as I can troll other people.

Apologies for posting a 12MB GIF, 3D WORLD TOO STRONK.

The best part of that gif is the subtle animation of Mario looking back and putting on a great OSHIT face.

Another great thing about this thread? 11 pages and no one shitting it up because its a Wii U thread.

I guess putting in a redundant amount of power ups is supposed to hide the fact that some of these stages are way too bloated and emtpy for the sake of multiplayer. But then they could have at least used more interesting ones, the giant mushroom might just be the most useless powerup ever created (from one of the worst Mario titles to date). And there's only so many Martinet ,,meow''s left before I might just finally throw up.
Other than that it looks okay, but it's sad that a couple of good ideas are wasted in this underwhelming package that's restricted by the 3D Land groundwork. Not sure where the enthusiasm for such a rushjob comes from, maybe it's some kind of stockholm syndrome or everyone else has gone blind? I mean, even if one's too lazy to look up Dolphin material of Galaxy which completely destroys this joke of a game, even MK8 completely shits on this shiny version of 3D Land and pretty much shows the minimum effort of how Mario in HD should look like. Although it's a little irritating, some of the reception is certainly less surprising to me after last week, in which people gave way too much credit to the hacks at Gamefreak for doing baby steps in a series that still essentially plays like Gameboy titles and is a complete technical disaster compared to any other quality 3DS title - but some parts actually look a little different from the DS titles oh how ambitious!1 lol

Speaking of 3DS, I'm glad Nintendo has at least one decent system out which makes it easier to pretend this thing right here just doesn't exist. Considering how half assed it looks, that hopefully means the Tokyo team's putting all their effort into an ambitious and unique title like Galaxy/Jungle Beat next year.

Wonder what that glowing camera icon in the top right under the score is.

I think it either means the camera is being or can be controlled at that particular point.

I could have sworn you were complaining about there being too much of a focus on the cat suit at one point. Could have sworn on my life.

People are excited because it looks fun. It's not that complicated.

Welp, spoke too soon.

Could be worse tho, could have been DragonSworne's driveby shittings.
