Is there a haunted mansion type level? Somebody please say Yes, and mean it.
Difficulty in this game is a bit of a sliding scale, as there are various ways you can make the game a cakewalk thanks to badges and yoshi/nabbit characters that can only die from pits and don't otherwise take damage. Some levels are downright dastardly though, and without taking the handicaps I'm finding some to be incredibly difficult and require precise timing and platforming.
As for length, I'm about halfway through the game now, and I've played for 3.5 hours, but I've also been playing every level (even the optional ones). I would say the whole game could be comfortably finished in 7-8 hours. Rushing through with the handicap characters and skipping the optional levels you could probably easily do it in 5.
Yeah, this has to be one of the best end-of-lifecycle periods ever for a Nintendo console. Things are usually extremely barren with them focusing on the next system.New Mario and Zelda titles at 90+ in the same year. People thought this would be a bad year for Switch
To be fair 2D the more recent 2D Mario games tend to live in the 80's on the review aggregators. Starting this well is better than I expected for Wonder. It's kind of good to see it.that's lower than I expected for a new AAA Mario game. Seeing a lot of 8s in OPs post.
Lol 2023 has ZERO chill. Yet another GOTY nominee.
Have people not accepted that this is the best year for games ever?
Uncontested at that!! No one else is even close.Nintendo remains the best software house in the industry, I see.
You forgot the Metroid Prime Remastered. I am Happy Nintendo TRI-FORCE are in full effect.New Mario and Zelda titles at 90+ in the same year. People thought this would be a bad year for Switch
Why? It's clearly a fantastic game with the usual Nintendo flair, charm, innovation and playability. Anyone giving this game lower than an 8 clearly has reasons or wants clicks.94 is higher than I expected for a 2d Mario. Might have to pick this up.
For fun.I think I predicted an 80, but I forgot to adjust for certain factors.
Looking forward to the Super Mario RPG release in December as well.
Another remake to cap of what Metroid started back in February.
Nintendo stays winning...
Because those "new" super mario bros got old. Why? It's clearly a fantastic game with the usual Nintendo flair, charm, innovation and playability. Anyone giving this game lower than an 8 clearly has reasons or wants clicks.
Banger just like SM2
It's better than Yoshi's Island? Not only did I know it would score this high but I think it has to be considered for the best 2D platformer of all time. To me it's between this and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
Bare in mind as well that I really disliked the New Super Mario Bros games, I tolerated the first one but didn't like the rest.
This opinion has always been weird to me since the first nsmb is easily the worst and most plain of the seriesNot only did I know it would score this high but I think it has to be considered for the best 2D platformer of all time. To me it's between this and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.

well you might think my opinion is worthless after this but I never liked Yoshi's islandIt's better than Yoshi's Island?
Regardless what score it got I will eventually going to pick this game up but not at launch, there are just too many fucking games.
It possibly is but it was also the first 2D mario game in a very long time. It was nostalgic as all hell. This opinion has always been weird to me since the first nsmb is easily the worst and most plain of the series
But good to hear SMW is up there with Tropical Freeze Nintendo had the time to perfect this one
Don’t remind me, this Feb alone going to insanity……as all devs decided to release their game in that month….Next year will be brutal.
