Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Thanks. I've only noticed lag when streaming a game to the app (whilst the missus bogarts the TV). I'll have to dig out the stick this weekend when I get a chance, and see how I get on. Just glad to have found someone who's tried it already.

tv is usually in use by someone in my house, so around half of my xbox time is streamed to my pc :P

Hori just tweeted this:

I'm getting frustrated with Hori, lol

When's the FE2 already

I just got the Razer Panthera from the half off sale they had, and am quite happy with it so far. So much nicer than the Mad Catz TES+. More hand room on the top surface without the bezel which can be annoying, the L3&R3 buttons are much easier to press than the overly stiff ones on the TES+, the touchpad is easy to reach, and I actually like the start button on the right side better than the front, although I still prefer it on the top. Less of a reach but still not likely to hit, and you can always lock them if it's a worry.

It feels much more like a premium product. Heavy, but not too much so, and quite solid. It doesn't feel or sound overly loud and hollow like some do. Being able to open it is super cool, even if I'm probably not going to fiddle with parts at all. I really even like the default color scheme. The true black buttons look better than the grey ones Mad Catz used. If someone was looking at either this or the TES+, I would no doubt recommend the Panthera over it.

So glad I saw that special when I did and jumped on it. I already pre-ordered an Obsidian, but this was a ridiculous deal, and so far seems like a very high quality stick. Gonna have to sell an old one or two now, but totally worth it.

My only knocks are the lack of a headphone port, no physical PC switch, and you can't store the USB cable inside without having to disconnect it, but nothing huge. I like the default art, so that's not a con for me.

Heck yeah! Owning a cab is the best, got a new one moving in soonish myself

Friend asked me if I wanted to buy it, or knew anybody that did, and sent me a pic. I thought it was just a Kraylix. I already have one, so I was like...I'll check around. Then he sent me more pics and I was like...wait a second...

Now I need to start looking into arcade boards. #hype

welcome to the rabbit hole. if you need any help, feel free to ask. :)

Man I thought you guys would have posted these or maybe someone did make a thread

I want one but I want a Xbox ONE/360 version not just a PS4/PS3 one only for the fact that I want a Noir-style layout because thats what I feel comfortable with

http://www.madcatz.com/fightsticks/tekken7.php

Genuine Arcade Layout
Premium Components

The Tekken 7 TE2+ uses the very same parts found in Japanese arcade cabinets. Sanwa parts are built to last and can endure the abuse dished out during fierce battles, and OBSF-30 action buttons respond with pinpoint accuracy. A Noir-style layout gives you classic Tekken ergonomics and full access to an arsenal of moves. And, the Sanwa JLF ball-top stick is the benchmark for precision character control.
Internal Access

Mad Catz' Tournament Edition 2+ opens up for access to inner storage and components. Dedicated storage compartments give you space for your extra tools and parts.

I'd rather they just make more type-n panels.

Madcatz won't be getting any more of my money for sticks after the PCB issues they've been having.

I have a bad feeling I'm not getting the guardian bag with my obsidian. Which sucks because I'm pretty sure that deal was still live when I pre-ordered, but idk.

Having a problem wiring a Dreamcast stick atm.

The current PCB is from a Blaze Twin Dreamcast stick. I have tested the stick before taking it out of the shell.

Using tape to temporarily secure wires. Currently only Start, Z, and C are working properly. Not sure why the other buttons refuse to work.

Perhaps I'm not wiring it properly?

It's hard to tell from it directly, but unless you removed them for picture reasons, at least 3 of the green buttons aren't wired to anything other than ground. For the rest, I'd check connections, because that's one hell of a mess of wires.

The Obsidian I ordered from Focus Attack finally shipped! On the last possible day they would do it too. lol.

Edit: Just got off the phone with customer service at Focus Attack, they said that any pre order before Jan. 2nd will receive the backpack.

Just dropped in the Xtension 2 player stick into my Xtension cab. Whole piece is built like a tank! It was a little pricey, but worth it imo. Prior to this, I would just use 2 sticks placed on the table top. Feels a lot better when it's integrated into the cab.

Might eventually swap out the Sanwa buttons for Semitsu - other than that, I recommend it highly to anyone who has this model cab.

I put Sanwa buttons & stick into my Venom today. I need to get used to thm. I bought an octangle gate to try out along with it which I've never used before. I also got a spring for the stick in case I want it to be more stiffer, I haven't decided if I'll use it yet.

Maybe you guys can answer this question for me.

I have a Round 1 TE stick. I'm looking to order a black plexiglass replacement for a cleaner look.

Can I buy the TE-Full plexi and forgo using a bezel and have my stick look like this:

blk_tef_3.jpg

http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/index.cfm?loc=products&cat=1&subcat=&item=30

Or do I have to order the one that implements the bezel?

I really hope I can lose the bezel.

Well I got my Qanba Obsidian last night. It feels great, but mine is defective. It works on PlayStation but it doesn't work on PC. Regardless of the setting. I spent a few hours last night trying my best and trying different PCs and it just wouldn't work properly.

It's a shame, hopefully focus attack will help me out and get this sorted out quickly.

It's like driving a really fantastic car, but it can only drive on certain roads.

Also got my Obsidian last night, probably my favorite shell since the TE1.

It's probably not defective (if it works on console), it's just how modded sticks sometimes work. The USB port on your PC isn't supplying enough power, or something like that, I'm not a rocket scientist.

Try these fixes, http://forums.shoryuken.com/discuss...tor-request-failed-or-port-reset-failed-error

If those don't work (they didn't work for me), then use the USB ports on the back of your PC and it should work.

I got mine yesterday as well. I think it just uses a lot of power over USB, so it can be picky.

I use USB extension cords for both my living room PC and PS4 so I can plug sticks into those without putting wear over and over again on my PS4 and PC's built-in USB ports

I found that this stick is not recognized properly if I use the extension cord on either, however it works fine on both the PS4 and PC directly. The funny thing is on the PS4 I also tried connecting by plugging a little non-powered USB hub into the USB extension cable than then the controller into the hub, and it works just fine. Really odd.

I noticed the same thing happening with a TES+ stick I had. Worked fine directly on the PS4, not with just the extender, but fine with the extender+ hub.

So, I don't think it's defective, but perhaps these stick with a lot of LEDs is picky about the USB port being used. Try different ones on your machine. If you have a little hub sitting around, try that for the heck of it.

As far as the stick itself. I think it's OK, but not amazing. The LEDs seem pointless (which may be leading to some of these quirks), and the option/start button being so small at the top is not ideal. I much prefer the Sanwa buttons on other sticks for the select/start. I think I prefer the Panthera over it. If I had known I could have gotten that Panthera for half off like I did, I probably wouldn't have pre-ordered the Obsidian.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried the back ports and it worked for about 1 minute then it would just shut off.

I figured it was power because when I added an extender to the rear USB port (I did that when I thought the rear port was going to work) it no longer worked.

I'll just post what I sent their support team

Hi, I purchased a Qanba Obsidian and received it 2/2/17. I tested it out on PS4 and it functioned properly. No timing out or weird inputs.
I then hooked it into the front of my PC and none of the games I tested would pick it up. ( USF4, SF5, KOF98UM)
I then when to devices and printers to check and see what windows was picking the device up as. On PC setting it would show up as Qanba arcade stick but with a yellow triangle.
On ps3/ps4 setting it would show up as something like "14 button axis with headphones".

I eventually reinstalled the xinput drivers in attempt to fix the PC mode and it started showing up in device manager as a xbox controller but gave an error that said insufficient resources to run.
I have run Madcatz TES+, Hori RAP4 and Qanba q1 on my desktop and laptop without these issues.

I then tested it on the rear USB ports thinking that the Obsidian might need cleaner usb signal. That seemed to work for about 1 minute. The device would show up in manger without any errors and I was able to start a round of KOF98 but then the device stopped responding. This happened twice.

I hooked it into my roommates PC and had the same exact issues as I did on my PC and my laptop.

Thanks,

Well I bought a powered USB hub and hope for the best. If not focusattack is going to help me return it to qanba for a replacement.

Eightarc responded to an email and told me to make sure its an usb 2.0 and to hold options and share for 10 seconds to reset the settings of the stick.

I guess I have a few options to try when I get home.

Not liking the return to the old SCV molds.

With Madcatz more or less out of the picture I see Hori falling back into old habits. Guess they don't see Qanba as a threat.

my only gripe is that none of these tekken sticks use fanta levers, I know jp sticks are the norm, but if there's one thing tekken is known for when it comes to controls is that korea popularized the fantas.

but i want that white hori xbone t7 stick, i dont even have the console lol

noir cramps my hands. The day Vewlix became a thing I could use was happy for me, because my hands aren't tiny Japanese hands. They're giant Texan hands.

yup, that's why i made a custom stick with extra spacing for last gen. my korean uses the viewlix layout though so i've had to get used to it because of that.

iirc there's an hrap4 model with a larger space between buttons and stick

I'm actually excited for both the Mad Catz & Hori TEKKEN sticks. Probably just because I'm a TEKKEN nut.

Hope everyone has been enjoying the Qanba USA Obsidian, Dragon & Razer Panthera :)

I can't wait til some more sticks hit the market throughout this year.

What's a good 'min' arcade stick to use with a PC/Laptop? There's a Mini Hori arcade stick that works for PS4+PS3, but I think I can use it on Steam and PC using software like Input Mapper.

I like the Qanba Carbon a lot as a budget PC/Android stick. It has both X-input and D-input. The dimensions might be a little big if you want something that's Hori Mini footprint though.
