Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Definitely one of the most bizarre things. Dude was always good to me, even sent me a free Seimitsu orange bubbeltop one time cuz I had been ordering so much from them.
Yeah, Lizard Lick vanishing is still a pretty big bummer. I'm guessing he took way more orders than he could actually fulfill and decided to just bail instead of sending refunds. Really bizarre considering how well-liked they were back in the day.

Focus Attack is a pretty good substitute, though. The dude who owns FA seems like a really solid guy who cares about his customers. I had to deal with the customer support once because my buttons didn't arrive on time and he offered to give me a refund if they didn't arrive in the next few days (eventually they did).

So.. i have been playing with my new fresh Hori RAP 4 now for a few days and have deceided to stick with the buttons and joystick. they feel very good.

However i still have one small issue myself and that is playing SHMUPS , how fast i throw the stick from left to right it feels theres an input delay , i have no single issue playing fighters, but i do feel the left to right joystick motion in shmups causes the microsecond of delay.

Been reading into it and now i will opt for a KOWAL 1mm Oversize Actuator and the Hayabusa Octopus Octagonal Restrictor Gate (and a 2lb spring while we are at it.)

Any experiences with that ? Will it throw off my fighting games and fix the shmups or anything ?

in general i advise strongly against octagonal gates but i guess some claim it's a preference thing.
these changes will have no effect whatsoever in any input delay though. what monitor are you using?

By input delay, are you referring to an actual delay from hearing the joystick click to seeing motion on screen? Or are you simply referring to the large amount of joystick movement needed to switch directions?
If the latter, an oversize actuator and a 2lb spring should be enough. I don't recommend switching to an octogonal gate just yet.
Alternatively, you could pick up a Seimitsu joystick like the LS-40 or LS-56; both are well-recommended shmup sticks due to their precision and tight feel.

yes im referring to the large amount of joystick movement needed to switch directions.

i know its like a split second of input lag moving from left *neutral* right , but if i can shorten it with an actuator, the better.

i ordered the actuator and spring, ill get back to u guys once they are installed ;)

thx for the thoughts!

Update on the Panthera:

The box says that it is xinput compatible, but when I plug it into the PC, it registers as a dinput device. I find one youtube video explaining how to install a driver to the stick, but it's not a razer driver and I don't want to mess with that and make the stick not work at all on PC (super not tech savvy and not sure how this stuff works).

I wanted to try out KI with this stick, but I can't right now because I don't know how to make it an xinput device through razer approved/provided instruction.

Edit: I'm dumb. There's an xinput driver on Razer's website. They should probably tell you that this is not xinput out of the box, though.

Edit 2: Not dumb. The driver installs an X360 Controller driver for the panthera, but the PS4 driver is also installed. I still can't play killer instinct. When I test the controller on both drivers, it reads all of my inputs.

Not sure if KI is picking up the right driver? Don't know how to make it default to the xinput driver. I can't remove the PS4 controller, because then the 360 controller doesn't work.

Grah. This is frustrating.

This sounds awful but tell me one thing--does it work on PC SFV without issue? The stick looks great and the design is enough to make me buy it.

I was able to plug it in start up sfv and it asked me to set it up as a dinput controller. I assigned my buttons and was able to play without issue.

I haven't tried installing the drivers that skilletor did or try it on any other FGs.

Good enough. I will figure out other fighting games eventually, which means for me just Melty Blood and Under Birth on Steam. Which I like but never play cuz of limited time. SFV is it.

Looks like a great stick, easy access to mod and sturdy. I will probably put in an LS-56 and some Hayabusas.

Works fine on everything I tried except KI. I only used KI because it's the only fighter I could think of that was definitely xinput.

I've been playing on it all weekend. It's a great stick.

Games I tried:

Fightcade (A2, A3, XvS, MSH, SF3, Garou)
KoF13
SF5
GG Xrd: Sign (don't have revelator, fuck that price :P)
KoF2k2
DoA5: LR
SFxT

Love it.

Where did you get the xinput driver from for it? I haven't seen it on their website page for the Panthera. I don't need it but it'd be nice to have just in case.

Thanks, Skill. I gotta reinstall Fightcade. My HDD died a couple of weeks ago and I still haven't gotten to recovering everything.

Gonna cop the Panthera in a few weeks for sure.

Bidding on this Blast City bezel! Always wanted one of these, wish me luck!

bezel?
good luck!

Yeah or I guess housing is the best word. I have a Namco Cyberlead top panel I'd want to put in place of the one on there already. Do you know if it will fit or is it a different size/configuration?

Here's a pic of the Namco Cyberlead panel:

I've been looking for a Versus city panel and housing for a while. If that housing won't fit your panel, would you mind PMing me where you're bidding at?

How do you guys manage to fix custom art on your sticks? For my venom stick I Will print out a custom art but how can I cut out all the circles and edges smoothly? Guess I could Always bring the Picture to some local store If I can find one. Any website that offers this?

The Venom stick specifically sandwiches its art between a metal plate and a sheet of magnetically attached plexi, so you don't need any special kind of paper or anything. I basically just detached the plexi to use as a template and very carefully used a combination of a regular craft knife and a swivel cutter to cut out the parts.

No particular advice about printing, though, as I was lazy and reused some Japanese stick posters I had lying around for the Venoms.

Since we mentioned LL recently, I have suddenly been missing them. Working on getting a new American cabinet but I want to try Japanese sticks in this one. LizardLick was a great place to get the sticks I want but finding them now...good luck getting them at a good price.

Anyone know a good spot to get legit Sanwa JLW-TM-8 sticks at a decent price?

EDIT: As I finish typing I see they are in stock at Paradise. I swear to god they weren't when I looked 5 minutes ago!

not a bad price for a legacy PCB at all

no Genesis support tho?

Genesis support would only be possible if there are enough places to wire to the board. There's not a way for a 9-pin controller to hook to an 8-pin RJ45 or similar connector, so it would have to be direct. This would require some engineering work on it.

If anyone looking for a MC Cthulhu to play PSX, PS2, OG Xbox, SNES, Sega Saturn, GameCube, and Dreamcast. Jasen Customs might have a special discount of "defective" MC Cthulhus at $13 to $15 per board on Jan 19th or 20th.

By defective, I mean that they can't be used to play PS3 or PC. Anything that needs USB.

Here's the post on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jasenscustoms/posts/2186402008252476

Wow, I had no idea they were doing this. I always wondered why Toodles didn't go the route of just extending the board a bit and giving it an RJ45 connector instead of or in addition to the USB, since that would have made things a lot better overall. then the PS360+ happened and, well...

I've been keeping up with this thread for ages, and now I can finally post.

So, hello.

I've been using a Madcatz TES+ for a while as my primary even though I had to get one exchanged from Amazon because of random stick inputs.

Then I've got a Hori Rap4 kai. I've got some custom Fate art and plexi on it and I'm using seimitsu buttons. I actually really like it but it has a very different response and feel from the madcatz.

I've also got this ARCsys monster. It's all sanwa like the TES2 but its wider and lighter. I like it but I rarely use it.

I'm waiting on the Qanba Obsidian to ship. I've got it on pre-order and I'm pretty excited to check out how it feels.

Is that the old HRAP or the new one with xinput?

Switch getting a fightstick... I wonder what FGs will show up on the platform.

Definitely interested. The RAP is basically a commodity now so seems rather boring for the system. More interested in this stick for any potential VC that might show. Fighters are all on the other systems and PC so really no need for them on Switch.

quick shoutout to arcade shock. ordered a ps3-ps4 adapter for my friend who is going to UDF for Curleh. they accidentally sent a ps3/4-wii u adapter. emailed them and they sent out a new one right away with quick shipping and emailed me a prepaid return label. all this within a couple hours of my first email to them.

Arcade Shock has always been excellent. They come highly recommended from me.

Yeah, Arcade Shock is legit. They even got my JLF in a day ahead of schedule (I.E. today).
