I like the first VLX more than the Diamond tbh. It's the color scheme.
Nice, I really want the hori bag, there's just no way to get it now
I like that the Diamond ver. has metal where my palm usually rests so the cover doesn't rusts away.

FYI, there's a how-to video on YouTube that is completely wrong in its explanation of which button wires to connect where. When I installed mine, I started by following the video, and there's a weird jump at one point where he skips a series of wires. Since I had no idea what he had done, I just started over. At that point I just opened up the PS360+'s PDF manual and used its wiring diagram. Everything works perfectly.

As for the two different versions of the VLX I tend to agree that the first is more iconic/better color scheme but the Diamond version just has a way more classy and quality finish.

Did not find one of the SH sticks at Yodobashi a few days back but here in Kyoto they had them both! Gonna pick up the PS3 version this afternoon!

I love the Diamond over the original! The only thing I dislike about the original is the cheap paint it uses for the black surface. I wish it was anodized metal.
Also grats on the SH! We've been selling them out in Japan and it is hard to keep up with the demand from retailers. I am fairly sure we are out of Xbox 360 ones now too.
I was just at Yodobashi Akiba last week and I remember they had 1 or 2 left. Must have sold since then!

Good price on the SH here too with the exchange rate. Clocks on at just under $200! It will be nice, too, knowing that it is my only stick bought in Kyoto!
Guess I'm gonna grab one of the new Kuro Hori sticks since they are everywhere here. Just gotta decide on blue and wifi or red and wired. Prolly gonna go with the blue since it can be wired as well as an option.
Even after swapping the joystick out of my SCV and into my Tekken Hybrid TE-S, the goddamned balltop is still unscrewing off. Im guessing it has to do with the glued down top sitting slightly higher than the sunk-in-bezel top of the SCV.
I am so sorry i bought this Tekken Hybrid stick. It's been nothing but trouble. Real misstep for Mad Catz with this one. I think my next step is to order a case and just transplant the contents.

I'm not sure I see the link between the case and the lever balltop coming loose, those seem completely unrelated.
i dunno, i cant explain it any other way. why it would be fine in one case and not in the other. ill do a more thorough investigation when i tear it down to harvest the parts.

Scored this off of craigslist for $75. My first stick too :> It had been hardly used and for Pac Man of all games.

I'm not sure if you know but we (Mad Catz) don't make the balltop/stick, that's made by Sanwa. Also, if it is unscrewing it's because it is not tightened.
If you have a flathead screwdriver you can easily alleviate this by applying pressure to one end and manually screwing the balltop with counter-force. This will keep the balltop from unscrewing. Hope this helps.
If you need any tips on stick modding or maintenance, feel free to post here.

When I transplanted the joystick lever, i did just that (in the bold).

You're really going to have to post photos of what you're talking about. The balltop is attached to the joystick shaft, and the joystick shaft alone. The joystick shaft is suspended by springs within the portion of the lever that attaches to the case. In no way does the case affect the state of the balltop or the shaft.

The construction of the case really had nothing to do with your complaint (balltop screwing off). So I wonder what else it could be? As previously mentioned, if you post pictures or a better description of what the issue could is. That would help.

I let my VLX get scratched up and it's been sitting out in the open collecting dust for a while now. I feel like such a horrible person. It deserves better than that. Whenever I get around to doing a design mod on it(maybe I'll just ask to restore it to the way it looked like before), I'll make sure to take care of it better so it doesn't end up the same way again.

I absolutely love my dual-modded 360 VLX.
I'm glad that I purchased Toodles' VLX Kitty, when it still available.
Three years later, the VLX still remains as my go-to stick.
Now with the Hayabusa, I just can't go back to Sanwa JLF's.

Good stuff. I had no idea these sticks existed until a few weeks ago. I got SUPER lucky with the diamond edition. A guy posted up on srk that he was selling one...and he lived local. I was able to swoop in and grab it at a great price.
I was bored so I modded a TE2 with Guilty Gear Xrd art/buttons. This is my personal TE2 that works with PS3/360.
That it awesome looking. Madcatz is doing a licensed stick when Xrd comes out, right?

Haha, I fell asleep and lost this auction.
Can you still get the Diamond VLX? Or hell, any VLX? I desperately need a new stick of some kind and the Diamond VLX is awesome. Right now I just have a smattering of Hori sticks (PS2 Tekken 5 stick, a couple of "FS3" sticks from when the PS3 launched), and one Madcatz Tornament Edition SF4 (Round 2) stick for the 360, all stock.
