Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

The white HBFS-G2 buttons are solid, not translucent.

Awesome I think I'll put an order in for some and put then in my VLX.

I can't figure out how to switch in/out of theater mode without using the touchpad. Delayed pause on in MK doesn't work.

So with a TE2 or the Hori FC4 pad, I guess you're out of luck, unless I'm missing something.

That sucks...I was playing MKX with the HRAP4 before the VLX arrived and I couldn't stand playing KOTH windowed. Ironically, you can get around it if you use a PS3 stick!

Is MadCatz releasing a Fight Pad anytime soon? I'm thinking about picking up the HORI Fighting Commander 4 for MKX.

So I'm trying to put a LS-56 spring into the Hayabusa and the spring is not wide enough, it does not fit around the base of the first part on the underside of the stick. The spring already in there is wider.

I've seen at least 2 people saying this should work...how? Please.

Just to be clear, the bit you can see the spring at in these pic, spring does not fit around that.

Not until SF5 apparently. Also the FC4 doesn't have the touchpad so see the stuff about the touchpad above in MKX.

So still no work-around for the lack of touchpad on the T2's? How long before they re-design one with it? (not sure of the turnaround with fighting sticks).

Somewhere in this thread, he said a new classic TE will be released. Neogaf exclusive!

I know which exact post you are referring to but how he's basically said nothing about it since then has me questioning if that's what he really meant.

By "Retro" doesn't Markman just mean TE2 with old-school colorways?

I'd love to see the old school cases see a return but I'm not sure if that's what he meant.

this is more how I'm viewing it now. =(

I'm currently tri-modding my two VS fight sticks with a MC Cthulhu with IMP V2, MKX XBOX fight pad, and a PS4 hori fight commander pad combo. Both sticks were originally dual mods of MC Cthulhu and 360, but I recently added mkx xbox pads to both sticks by taking out the old 360 fightpads. Now I'm waiting for the ps4 pads to arrive in the mail.

Both sticks have two switches, which are placed inside the conceal compartments along with a rj45 feed through. The smaller toggle switch on the right controls D+, D- wires from the imp v2 to the ps4 pad and the xbox pad, and the larger toggle switch controls the state mode on the xbox pad. All three controller pcbs will be connected to the imp v2, so I can have them all connected to the rj45 feed through. Here is a video of me testing out the MKX xbox pad inside one of the VS sticks. I switch from MC Cthulhu to 360 to Xbox One.

How did I miss this post? Can you explain what are the pinouts you used for the state modes? I've done something very similar. I modded my TE with a ps360+, imp v2, mkx xb1 pad & a hori fc4. I used a dpdt switch for the ps360+ & the imp v2, then the pads are connected to the imp. I would have added a switch for the state modes but I didn't understand them.

Yep. It'll happen sooner than you think. :)

Anyone got a link to those anodized aluminum hex screws for the Fightstick TE? Would they be compatible with HRAP2 SA?

they are different sizes.

"RETRO" in the vein of revisiting an old design and putting a new twist on it.

I'm just going to take this as confirmation it's at EVO. I don't care what you say. Nothing will dissuade me from my belief!

But really, that's cool. I'm set on sticks for the generation, but awesome for the peeps that love that classic case. :)

Nonsense. You know you can't stop.

You've been using the Hori FC4 pad, right? How do you like it for MK compared to the DS4? (touchpad issues aside)

I like it a lot. The dpad isn't the best, but it's decent. Better than the DS4 for sure. The butons feel nice and solid. They're a really good size, too. Something I didn't realize I wanted until I started switching back and forth from the DS4. Makes it easier to hit multiple buttons at once on the pad. It's definitely worth the 50-60 bucks.

Also using it for some old arcade games (D & D, TMNT) and MAME is a bonus.

I play with this layout:

1 2 block
3 4 throw

And I love how the controller is made to be held with one hand. I actually prefer using the FC4 over a stick for MK. I haven't played any matches online yet, but I do miss the touchpad for training mode and position reset.

Cool thanks, for the info. I was most curious about the d-pad. I'm probably going to pick one up as soon as Amazon gets more, but for now, I find the stick easier to use than the DS4 because B-F moves give me so much trouble.

Amazon.co.uk really isn't helping with my HRAP4 order.
Ordered it on April 18 but they still haven't even shipped it and now the store page has it listed as "Temporarily out of stock."
Starting to get the feeling they didn't have any when I ordered it in the first place.
Then again of course I do not have an alternate store option. Or at least I don't know of one.

Unfortunately we won't have them there. We saved our final batch of these for EVO this year.

are you bringing any ps4 sticks to combo breakers? I may need a new one, and it seems like everywhere I check the te2's are out of stock

Sorry to hear that...it's probably the USB cable. You could try replacing it, it's a pretty simple repair:

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUi7BOmkaUM

If you do end up getting a TE2, you might want to check out this awesome Namco Noir faceplate:

https://mobile.twitter.com/MarkMan23/status/593834050080477184

I tried to do this just now, did not work. I spliced the cables (fucked up the first time and burned my knuckle). It could be the connection straight to the circuitboard but I dont want to rip it out.

So markman those te2 sticks

Well, I'm talking about the state mode for the mkx xbox 1/ 360 pad. I should had used system mode instead to described the mode change on that pad. Anyway, I unsoldered the system mode switch and soldered two wires from the spdt toggle switch to the system mode pinouts on the mkx pad. The image below is a basic layout of where I have the D+, D-, and the system mode wires placed between all the pcbs (images of pcb boards were taken from different guide on srk and some images on google search):

The spdt toggle switch controls the system mode for the xbox pad. The video link that I had in the previous post shows the spdt switch in action.

So markman those te2 sticks

Yes, we'll have plenty at Combo Breaker. We'll also have them available again online on the Friday (May 22) of the event at noon PST.

Shit, you can be in line after I get my 8.

Lmao @ 8. Necessary for the 8 player orgy brawl mode to be announced for Street Fighter V at EVO no doubt. Only playable if you purchase the official Sony 8 port USB splitter for $19.99 (scalper's price)...$50 for the rest of us on eBay.

So after googling I'm not even close to being the first person to be told this only to discover it is false.

Is this some fightstick myth people repeat without actually knowing?

MarkMan is MadCatz community manager. He sells MadCatz fightsticks :P

He's the reason we have TEs.

And, imo, the reason so many fightsticks have stepped up their game and brought us out of the generic parts ghetto.

<3 Markman

So he would be the one we'd want to ask about the lack of a sensor pad on the TE2, if there's any work around for it in MKX, or if there's a newer model coming out soon with one?

Also...would he have any info on rainbow affect underneath the plexi glass on the T2?

I've had a T2 sitting in my amazon cart for a couple of weeks now. Just trying to get that nudge to pull the trigger.

Thanks man. I should have wired the way you did because it makes more sense to use the dpdt to switch between ps4 & xb1 because that's what I use most. I end up forgetting what system I played last with the stick, so having to hold home for the imp and replug has not been ideal because I do it too often.

Also thanks for info on the spdt, that's way simpler than I thought. I really don't want to rewire but I guess i will.

So this is the topic where arcadestick-related questions can be answered I guess?
Are there cheap options (<100 euros) (even <70 would be great) working for both Ps3 and PCs out there? Or PC only I'd prefer that.

I bought a used Madcatz Ps3 Standard edition SF4 Fightstick years ago and I pretty much ignored it because I've never had someone to play fighting games with, but now my housemate took interest in trying to tackle this genre with me so I'd love to use my fightstick not only with the games I've got on Ps3 but also the ones on PC... Too bad that this piece of crap won't work at all because it uses some old USB standard and from what I've gathered my only option would be buying a multi-console pcb like Toodles Cthulhu. :\
Maybe this would be the cheaper option instead of buying a brand new arcade stick? From what I can remember the SE Fightstick would be pretty easy to mod...

And if I'd like to spend between 150 and 200 euros what does the market offer to me? I'd love to being able to play both fighting games and shooting games (especially bullet hells), but I don't know if the two genres would benefit from very different types of arcade sticks or not.

The best bang for your buck would be getting one of the newer sticks available like the HRAP4 and TE2 as if you ever do get a PS4 you can use it on the PS3/PS4 and PC. I am not 100% sure of EU pricing on the sticks but the HRAP4 is more easily available and cheaper than the TE2 at the moment.

If not there are some pretty good PS3 sticks you can get from man places like amazon, madcatz, hori, or even used options in the BST thread here and on shoryuken.com. There are many choice so you need to decide what best fits your current and future situation. The sticks should also work just fine with bullet hells and other arcade games are these sticks are just arcade controls for home.

How's the cab coming along skilletor?

Also need an opinion for my Gamerfingers for VLX. White base with black caps or vice versa?

The panel is being wired up. Should have everything done next week. Ended up buying a few more of the chibi sf buttons from arcadeshock. I bought 8 at EVO last year, so now I have enough for both sides of the panel. Also got matching dust covers.

Have the TV and everything all set. Need to look into the raspberry pi 2 for my emulation needs.

FYI, This is from the latest MKX patch:
Added the ability to go full screen in the KOTH viewer by PS4 players who use devices that do not have a touchpad button
