Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

THE HAYABUSA COMETH!

...and now I'm faced with a quandary; a very stupid one. Chalk it up to me never having swapped out a joystick before. Which way is right-side up (so my directions inputs won't be backwards)? :)

I also vaguely recall someone a while back saying something about flipping the connector over in a Round 1 Fightstick TE. Can anyone clarify?

For the TE R1, it's one of the top two diagrams. Most likely the first one up top.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the diagram. So maybe the comment about flipping the connector is to have the ground wire (black) to be in the right place.

EDIT: For those interested, I found the old post I mentioned previously where someone clarified the trick to putting it into a SFIV R1 Fightstick TE...

The stock wiring harness should just need to be rotated. The Hayabusa apparently has the same 5-pin layout as Seimitsu sticks, which means you literally just install the stick with the pins facing the same direction as stock then flip the harness over so the wires rotate and you're good. I've got an LS-40-01 in mine and before putting my PS360+ in a while back that's all I had to do since the JLF harness is a "mirror" of the Seimitsu one.

Mine is on the way, but i do not like that orange bezel. Wonder if it would look better in another color.

Is the plexiglass crappy/moving around?
I'll mod mine by the end of the year, no doubt. Probably Classic Sonic related.

The plexiglass moves around just a little but it doesn't bother me.

HRAP 4 Kai came in today, kind of seeing what Skilletor was talking about with the lever being a little loose. I'm a scrub aspiring to be a mid-level player, and I wasn't sticking some stuff that even I know I should be hitting. Eh, the spring is cheap. Couldn't hurt to try it out, and if I don't like it I can always change it back.

Not sure how I feel about the Kuro buttons. They definitely feel... different. Do they really not come in anything but black? I kinda have to replace them with Sanwa buttons anyway then. Which I've already got on order.

As soon as my ball top or buttons get in, I can check the color against the artwork and send that in to Art's Hobbies and get that taken care of too. Even if I completely suck at fighting games, I still get a kick out of customizing the stick.

Picked up an FS Pro SFxT stick for very cheap, non working. Gonna padhack that one for PS4 as well cause why not?

Now the question is what to do with the art, cause I'm not gonna be keeping the SFxT art it has now.

So question for anyone who has bought the HRAP 4 Kai (or any other hori stick). I know cracking it open to change parts voids the warranty and I know that the hyabusa lever isn't totally compatible with Sanwa restrictor gates. But if I wanted to snag one of the hori sticks and gut it and put all Sanwa hardware inside, would this require extensive modding? The buttons should be fine and just pop in and out I'm assuming. I'm more curious about what extra mods, if any, I would need to make to put a JLF in.

Question, could someone make me an arcade stick, USB, that has a Nintendo arcade stick built in? I want it.

Look into the MC Cthulu board. I have a Xbox 360 dual modded Mad Catz TE-S with it installed, so I can also use my stick on PS3, PC, GameCube/Wii, OG Xbox, PS1/PS2, Saturn, Genesis, SNES, NES, etc... via detachable rj-45 cords. Got mine modded by Gumm0wned over at SRK. Hoping to get it modded to support Xbox One & PS4 once I have some spare cash

This might help: http://www.focusattack.com/kowal-flat-plate-converter/

That stock hayabusa and jlf share mount patterns and wiring harness layout, so no modifications would be needed.

Anyone know if there are plans to have more colors for the TE2 side panels? Right now it's just the red, blue, and I think the third is a clear black. Just wondering incase the Rivals stick doesn't go back in stock sometime soon.

Hey guys, need some help.

I'm looking for a ps3 to Xbox 360 converter.
I'm heading to a tournament soon and only got a ps4/ps3 stick, but AFAIK the tournament will be on Xbox 360.

Any suggestions?

anyone here (or know anyone that is willing) to whip up a TE2 artwork for me? I have ZERO photoshop skills =(
Have the rivals stick. Gonna keep with the orange theme but is there a way to incorporate ERyu somewhere in there. Maybe even ERyu and Ryu (or Akuma) as the 'rivals' as they're my two/three most used characters lol

PM hibachifinal. His work is really good and I believe he's doing commissions now.

I'll be honest, any PS3 to 360 converter you get will probably be banned at the event. The main one out there, CronusMAX, is piece of garbage. It adds a lot of lag, fries USB ports, and can actually interrupt the other players commands.

Cronus makes a few other devices but they're all pretty bad.

I've been using a CronusMAX since shortly after launch with my SFIV Fightstick TE and I haven't noticed any lag and the USB port I plug into still works fine. I've played the game over 40 hours. I can't speak to the command interrupt for other players though, none of my friends are into playing the game. I only play against the CPU and online.

Is the plexiglass crappy/moving around?

I've just returned mine. I loved the artwork but the plexiglass IS crappy and DOES move around, which is unacceptable to me. Not only that, the orange frame digs into my wrists because it protrudes from the stick surface . This is more pronounced if you lean back than if you're upright. Both of these flaws are an artifact of wanting to make customizing the stick easier but they are absolutely not worth the problems.

I love my Madcatz TE edition from 2008 but this TE2 is an abomination. The only clear improvement is the foam underneath that makes the stick warm and comfy when I'm wearing shorts.

Otherwise, the original TE is better.

With all that said, mad props to Madcatz for the way they handled the return. Absolutely zero hassle. I explained my issue and they issued an RMA a day or two later.

I will definitely be returning to buy the TE3 if it doesn't suffer from these issues. the top stick surface NEEDS to be smooth. The only protrusions should be the buttons and the stick. Nothing else!

Is the plexiglass like 1/32 thick? As in very thin.

Just got my TE2 for PS4 today. Overall I'm very impressed with it, but the plexiglass moves around. It's not really a huge deal, but it's kind of annoying. Is this a normal thing with these units? Or should I return it?

Edit : Just read a few other posts with the same problem I have. Damn that's dissapointing. I like everything about it more than my old 360 SSFIV TE, but the plexiglass man. Why would they make it like that. Gonna have to really think on whether I should keep this or not. I'm not really a tinkerer, I just want my stick how it is.

There's one player here who uses one. It definitely shorted out one of the USB ports in a 360 we use for locals. It's also messed a bit with other players when playing him while he was using it.

Needless to say, we've discouraged him from bringing it anymore. Especially because he's a pad player and there are much less obnoxious methods to get a pad working on 360/PS3

The plexi problems on TE2s are just central to the design of the thing. I'm hoping they get wise and switch to a firmer one like the one Art's Hobbies sells.

If you like your TE2 and want a firmer, less moisture-sensitive top panel, buy this. Made a huge difference for me.

A friend of mine and I tested the cronusmax on 360. I was 1p, using the Cronus, he was 2p. I could literally see the dropped inputs on his side and he said he felt a lot of lag on the inputs that did come out. We stopped using them for vs. If I get an XB1 ever, then I'll use it for single player, but...yeah, don't trust the thing for vs.

Hmmm since the shipping was free I think I could swing this. I really would like to keep it. So this will keep it in place and is thicker?

Hey guys,

Anyone know if I can use the Qanba q2 led with my PS4? I would especially like to use it with SF5 and I can get one at a really good price right now, thanks!

Damn, then I will look out for a Xbox 360 stick at the tournament...

Can someone recommend me a Stick for USF4 on PS4? Just downloaded the game last night and the controller is wrecking my hands.

Not looking for a crazy expensive stick. Something decent that does the job, preferably with 8 face buttons.

If it's a ps3 stick, you can only use it with a few games right now. It's likely that sf5 will allow ps3 stick support, but not confirmed.

The Q2 is a PS3 stick so...maybe? You can use it with USF4, Skullgirls, and MKX right now. As far as SF5, depends if Capcom adds the PS3 driver to the game.

ya, what Skilletor said

Edited your comment for clarity. When I drop $200 on videogame controller, it damn well better be perfect and make me happy. I'm NOT going to spend years being slightly annoyed and slightly regretful of my purchase.

If you're like me, then you'll return it.

With that said, the stick doesn't impact victories in games, this is all about comfort and finish, not functionality.

I use one for single player and it's been great. Apparently there were issues with an old design that were remedied when the devs had a falling out and the CM people revised the hardware. There was also a big firmware update. The current devs made a point to explain how their new hardware is designed properly to avoid these reported issues unlike the old one and the Titan One. They had a post about it on their site. Take that for what it's worth.
