Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I've known a few people with Razer sticks, a few of them really like the sticks and they work out, but a few others have had parts break or the entire sticks go out. They're not poorly designed sticks (I mean the MCZ TE2 stole from it heavily) but they have that Razer charm of never knowing if yours will break.

Considering the 360 is obsolete for every fighter not named UMvC3 now though I don't know who's going to buy them. They have an incredible Street Fighter team but no products outside of 360 sticks which is bizarre.

Every time I see somebody linking to that input lag stick test page I'm asking myself.
Is it something a mere mortal would notice?
Anecdotally I've gotten my high score in SDOJ (shmup) with one of the laggier ones on there (older PS360+), while I normally play with one of the better ones (eTokki adapters). I used both on my cab and couldn't really tell at the time.

...course SDOJ has a little bit of lag in itself so that might've hidden things a bit.
I take issue with the page on gates, particularly the octo gate stuff is off (they're bigger than the square ones, rather than smaller as shown there). But yeah everything else is probably fine afaik.

If you want to do something really quick and ghetto, print out one of the layouts and use them on a cardboard box.
wonder if the fighting stick mini will be a good pad hack option, even little wires alone would be easier for amateurs than soldering directly to a pcb
I thought those things used the latter (buttons on PCB).

Speaking of PCBs/making sticks, anyone try this one out?

$12 for a USB controller board!

With a bunch of stuff coming out on PC too I'm spending more time on there, so I figure a USB stick would be useful enough on its own nowadays. And I could use some other adapter down the line for consoles, although (as with all adapters) I wonder about lag with those.

They have an Xbox One stick, but with PS4 being the defacto fighting game console this gen, I can't imagine it's a huge seller.

Part of me wonders how they'll handle SFV majors. Maybe they'll finally give in and release PS4 stuff? Maybe let their players use their own sticks? Force them to use something like a CronusMAX to use the Xbox One Atrox on a PS4? Who knows. It's a weird situation to be sure.

To anyone it may concern, it looks like Street Fighter V will not use the touch pad, L3, or R3 in any way. The lack of L3 & R3 use is particularly odd since it was in the first beta. Maybe they'll add a quick-restart function to the touch pad when the final game drops, but I'm not sure right now.

Basically, if you have one of the older Hori PS4 sticks or a TE2 regular, you should be fine for SFV.

That's a big relief. I jumped the gun too quickly and bought a TE2, so that's perfect.

I'm happy about that, I'm using a modded TE stick so I don't have any of those buttons. Don't really see why they should ever add those either, doesn't make sense in general for people using sticks.

As did I, but I got my TE2 for $160. It's a win-win situation for me. And if I want to use the select/touch-pad button functionality on USF4, I'll switch my TE2 to PS3 Mode.

They should still use them for UI shortcuts like quick reset and other features for people that have them. Let those who waited for them or have the actual default pad not be shorted functionality. I hate that Mad Catz and Hori rushing out recycled old shells effectively gimped future software. At some point they need to just accept all the DS4 features as the bare minimum, even if the early adopters are left behind.

I have old TE2s and definitely agree. The bare minimum should be DS4 functionality...taking out touchpad shortcuts is silly.

I feel like quick resets using the touch-pad would be fair (& I'm probably gonna get a TES or a TE2+ at some point in the future for the sake of 2-player).

Wouldn't it be mandated by Sony that games use all of the DS4 functionality?

The large majority of people won't even be playing SF5 on sticks.

Aaaaand HRAP4 is back to $150. Hope everyone that wanted one got on board.

Got it @ $121.59, probably should have waited a bit more. Ended up being more or less the same price in AUD as this

including shipping.

are there any good pc/ps4 sticks? I tried googling and didn't really find much, but i'm definitely interested in jumping on the stick train!

edit: i found this on amazon at first and it was out of stock, didn't think to check their site

since this works on the ps4 I'm assuming it works on the pc as well?
You have to switch it to PS3 Mode for PC use, but it works. Normally I'd say to just wait for the TE2+, but since Street Fighter V doesn't use the touch-pad, L3, or R3, you should be fine with just the TE2. It's a solid stick (I speak from experience).

Have been eyeing that SFV Chun-Li TE2 stick since it was announced and decided to check them out tonight on Amazon because they ship to Australia. But then I noticed the TE2+ releasing in February for the same money and now I am hesitating.

Any chance of a Chun-Li TE2+ sometime down the track? And will Mad Catz sticks be available to buy locally in Australia for SFV or will I be importing from the US? Prices and exchange rates could result in me looking at Hori sticks shipped from Japan.

Yeah I'm pretty sure most if not all PS4 arcade sticks work on PC as long as you set them to PS3 mode. You might need to use Joy2Key or install fanmade drivers like this one that makes PC games recognize PS3 controllers as Xbox controllers, since a lot of games only have native support for 360/Xbone controllers. I know that's the case with SFV right now.

I heard on the Chun Li TE2 they made the plexi better. I'm really getting annoyed with my buttons not being 100% secure and the new plexi is supposed to fix that, can anyone confirm?

Yeah, they fixed the plexi on the Chun-Li TE2. Though in my case, I'll likely just buy a plexi form Tek Inovations. But for now, the current plexi doesn't annoy me that much.

How does one open the Mad Catz TES+ stick. Is it the four bolts on top? Is replacing the art difficult?

I assume the TE2+ is easy on both fronts.

Te2+ is just a clamshell that opens by the push of a button. That gives you access to the screws you need to change the art

It's maddening how slowly it's dropping @_@

Like, just friggen plummet back down to $112 (or lower) already so I can maybe get it for Christmas lol

Because I didn't want to buy an expensive stick to play street fighter 2 on mame or usf4 on steam whilst I live in china, I got a £8.50 USB one from taobao.

Its so cheaply made but it works so I'm a happy man. Even has old rubber sticky feet you get on bathroom soap holders....

Its a like a 5$ ...... But I love it!

With the Hori Kai I think if you pick one up now and it drops again, as long as its within a week of your delivery, amazon will refund the difference. I think the only requirement is that it's sold from amazon directly.

You guys think it would be possible to dual-mod my TE2 (PS4/PS3) for Wii U use using the PCB from the Pokkén Tournament Fight Pad?

Hard to say without seeing the PCB. If it's common ground, it could be done easily. If it's not it can still be done but it'll be a pain in the ass. There are folks out there with sticks that have Wii U pro pads in them so it may be cheaper to go that route.

$126 for HRAP4. Might as well buy it now and then Amazon will refund you the difference when it drops more.
