Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Really wish he would make the old panzer. :( friend has one and it's amazing perfect size and the wrap he uses for the art feels so good on the hand.

Old one was so good looking:

New one is blah.

yea damn, this is so nice looking

Yeah, that's nuts. $279 for an empty metal stick enclosure?!?

It has like some connectors I think, but yea

hi markman im in the uk been trying to pre-order when they gonna come back in stock http://eustore.madcatz.com/Categori...r-5-Arcade-FightStick-TE2-for-PS4-PS3-EU.html

also are these ever gonna be in stock ?
http://eustore.madcatz.com/Categori...Stick-Tournament-Edition-2-for-PS4-PS3_2.html

The SF5 products haven't gone up for preorder on our EU web store yet. You can preorder them via GAME (in store and online).

The regular Mad Catz TE2 will eventually be back in stock as well.

MarkMan, I'm not sure if you answered this already, but why ditch the right stick for the FightPad? I was hoping that it could double as a 2nd regular PS4 controller with a superior d-pad & sticks with rubber that won't break down.

Any chance if you know if they'll be back in stock in the US in time for SFV? I ordered one off Amazon in hopes that it would get here by then.

Glad I got a pair of those for my CMVS (the person who designed the graphics in the picture was really nice and let me use it for my pair as well). It was expensive. I won't be buying anymore with the new design and price.

So I have one of these and love the living hell out of it.

However I've pondering some minor mods to make it more Korean. To make it more Tekken authentic I guess you could say though I'll be playing the hell out of SFV in the mean time. Any recommendation with the stick and buttons? Or should I just leave as is and continue to love it.

I understood the consensus to be that the stick is fine and the buttons can be swapped out for Sanwas without much effort.

Yeah the modding is super easy. I did some mods with a TE stick back when SFIV came out. I may swap out those button. Maybe pick up a bat top but does that require replacing the entire gate?

Yeah the HRAP4 Kai stick is easy to mod. I swapped the buttons easy with Sanwas. The HRAP2 gave me a headache, had to use pliers on that.

For the Crown Korean stick, certainly. If I recall, those things are about as easy to mod as a TE2(+). The issue may come if you want to try to mod a Fanta stick into your Hori Vewlix. To my knowledge, that requires a bit of modding of your stick to fit the thing.

Bat top shouldn't require replacing the gate. IIRC you can just pick up a normal bat top and it'll be fine. Don't remember if you need that converter thing like with Sanwa sticks though.

I absolutely love my SFxT stick but I'm gonna have to customize it when I have more moneys. Not sure what I want to do...

Personal opinion from someone who has used fight pads in the past, that right stick would just be in the way.
I get that it would be cool to be able to use it as a 2nd PS4 controller, but thats not really it's purpose. It's made for fighting games, and optimized for use with those games. Personally I would prefer no sticks, as even the left stick can feel in the way for me. I get why it's there, since some people do use the left stick for fighters. But trying to arch your hand to get around a right stick wouldn't be comfortable at all.
Also it's not like MC decided to just ditch the right stick, I don't know that I've ever seen a popular fight pad with a right stick. This is actually the first I can really remember in awhile with a left stick.

Yeah I really enjoy Sanwa. With the Kuro though it's using that Hayabusa joystick. Is a Sanwa Denshi bat top going to work? Going for the silent buttons too since I used those on my last stick.

The stick can use Sanwa ball tops so you should be able to use a bat top with a Sanwa adapter. If you get a bat top from Focus Attack, they all come with adapters.

arcadeshock comes with adapters so should be good to go then. :D Thanks much.

Will be interesting how this plays out. Never used a bat top before and always been curious how it works out for me.

Stick is pretty loose with this Kuro. Wave dashing on the thing is pretty dreamy. Though I think with Tekken 7, probably going to stay away from the wave dashing and more on other characters. KBD all day. Also seeing that Ling is looking good this go around, time to bring her back into my line up. :D

Yeah, I didn't mind the Kai's Hayabusa at first since it was my first stick, but after playing on my friends Qanba I really want to move to the stiffer sanwa stick. I feel like I mess up motions a lot more due to how loose it feels.

Can't wait for my TE2+ to arrive.

Serious question: Does anybody have any suggestions where one might find HORI and/or Madcatz sticks in L. A. for decent prices?

There are no Mad Catz ones at retail stores, however if you order from New Egg you can pick it up at their LA distribution center (this is for the Chun-Li TE2).

For Hori, I believe some mom and pop stores carry their products, as does Fry's Electronics in the area. Actually now that I think about it, Fry's also carries the Xbox One TE2 from Mad Catz and the Razer Atrox.

Thanks for the info. I'll order the TE2 for PS4 then.

I have a question; any experts can you help me understand something...?

I'm on old hardware; original 360 TE stick with a cthulu board so I can use on PS3 also; and now I'm trying to use it on PC.

to play Crimzon Clover.

The stick is all out of wack!! like the lever itself is mapped incorrectly; pressing right moves up and pressing up hits enter?? And you cannot configure it in the menu since you cannot remap the DPAD; only the buttons >_<

so I tried to use joy2key, and it didnt work either becoz the game still reads the cthulu board, so if you map the lever to a keyboard button, it registers both as the keyboard and whatever the game reads the lever push as

>_<

so I did some googling and found this support thread:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/285440/discussions/0/540743757274948493/#p2

where Post #23 says it's something to do with the cthulu board where you need to hold down the start button when plugging it into my PC.

I did and yeay, the stick works now and I can play Crimson Clover no problem and adjust my controls as necessary.

so question is... what exactly did I do?? What feature of Cthulu board did I unlock / enable by holding start down on plugging it in?

and does this also have any strange effect if using it on PS3 as I originally intended when I installed the thing??

As far as I know, the cthulu board, by default, reports movement using two different methods (X/Y axis and POV Hat) at the same time, but holding down start or select disables one of these. It shouldn't have any effect when you go back to PS3.

Debating whether I want to get the Chun TE2 or the TE2+. I don't really care about the touchpad or L3/R3, since I'll be playing in training mode on PC with my VLX most of the time.

I do want that blue case, though.

You can get $40 off the Chun-Li TE2 because of our new year promo on the web site (not exclusive to the Chun-Li FightStick), use '2016' promo code at discount. http://store.madcatz.com

Sorry for yet another stupid question. (i'm full of em)

What's the difference between upcoming 150 and 200 madcatz quid sticks. Please.
Most likely you will be able to, it's just in the last beta there wasn't any directinput support for SFV, so it's only an assumption (albeit a safe one) that it will have dinput support for the final version.
Cool. I hope so.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond.

150 is the old style TES body, looks like a rectangle. A bit harder to open up and mod (will need a allen head screwdriver, that's about all). USB cord is stored in an compartment on the stick.

200 is the newer style TE2 body (looks like a rectangle with bits on the top and bottom) that opens up easier and is moddable w/o tools. USB cord is detachable.

Both sticks will have the touchpad
